There aren't any high population shards as it is. Every shard is at extremely low population.

I guess you don't play on Oceania, compare that to Atlantic or Napa Valley. I like my low population Oceania and if I want to play on a high poopulation shard I will transfer all my characters.

Something like that wouldn't work because EA makes money off of character transfer tokens.
Plus, I like my quiet shard. I'm aware of who not to trust and who is a stand up person. I have memorized a lot of people's alt chars. Plus more populated shards tend to not have many polite and helpful people.
Regradless, something like that would be very problematic.

If you don't like your shard then move. Smaller shards have so much more to offer than more populated ones.. like community, housing space and a sense of helping each other. And we like it fine thank you very much.

And they should put them together via moongates so people dont loose there stuff and they wont loose there "shard" and there house .. just give people a chance to move around more etc... with out using xshard tokens, yeah the xshard tokens would still work to move from EAST to WEST ... etc... but I am all for combining shards VIA MOONGATE only. Because we all know that a big merge would be a horrible thing in which people would loose alot of items, and homes.

LOL, and if it weren't FOR the trammies, the game would be dead. Sorry to disappoint, but the population of Tram far exceeds Fel, and those people WILL be listened to, not a minority in Fel. And before I get lumped in with being a Trammie, I spend far more time in Fel than Tram. Flame away.

ok please explain to me why there should be only four shards and how you would do it so that we people that have a tower, keep, or castle we alway wanted can still keep it, but not be stepping on someone else tower, keep or castle in the same location on the shard they call home?
I happen to like Sonoma, does that mean all the west coast shards are going to move to Sonoma? Sure let them come, but no they cannot have my housing spots!!! Does that mean I have to move to say Napa? Sorry no I like Sonoma wine with my Fish, not Napa. Pacfic is that the shard that will take over as the #1 west shard? I think not, surely this idea has more holes in it then swiss cheese. So leave it be and as they say in the movies, "move along".

This is where you're wrong. It's because of u trammies the game is in the condition it is.
Face facts, the only reason why trammies out number fellucians, is due to trammies ****ing the game up.
I like LA just fine the way it is and I would bet a lot that echos the feeling of the over whelming majority of LA players.
Keep on telling yourself that and even you might believe it someday.
The vast majority of nerfs are due to PvP'ers pancakes and moaning.
Trammel was created exactly becaues otherwise the game was going to go down the tubes.
Before you go off on me (you will anyways), I live in Fel and spend about half my time there playing.

How would this solve anything? The only thing it would do is move the instancing inside the game instead of at the server selection screen, and probably just make things more confusing.

Ok, then tell me this, who get's to decide who gets to own the house right outside destard that I currently own on catskills? Because I'm sure the 4 other east coast shard players aren't going to give it up just so I can have it on the new East Coast Supershard. And same goes for me. I'm not going to give up what I've worked for just so someone else can have it.
Shard merging is not an option at this point, not unless they can come up with some fair way to transfer everything over. We're in too deep on each shard to start over, or merge.
If you want a higher population shard to play on, then transfer yourself there. The rest of us are fine where we are.

If there is such low populations who the heck owns all those things surrounding my house? I certainly dont want to see them cutting down all the trees to make room for more. And I aint no genius but, the work involved in creating a gate between shards seems like.... I dunno ... a lot of work.
Honestly tho I only recently see more people playing because of the armor give-away. Does anyone know the real pop on each shared? I read there were 150000 paid accounts or somethin. What the number of people actually playing the game at a given time? There is no way even 500 people are playing at the same time. Maybe Im wrong but at some point their gunna come up with some form of this and yank the plug..

If one day internet technology became sufficiently advanced (eg. http://www.usyd.edu.au/news/84.html?newsstoryid=2411 ), that all shards could be connected via moongates, we would see a significant resurgence of interest within current UO players, and possibly from ex-players as well (though probably not new players).

As for your suggestion. No, and here is why: Housing. Two houses can not exist in the same location. People on shards you don't play on have built custom houses, player run towns and other crap that is just as important to them as your 1337 speakin', child like, lord of the flies, PvP posturing.
