Everyone has goals they want to achieve in game, whether they be large or small. I'm not talking about the goal to have fun, as we all play the game for that reason, or at least all of us that aren't using UO as a form of employment and income for RL. I'm interested to see what different people have set for themselves as long term goals for themselves to achieve in game.

For me, I've already reached one of my long term goals, which was to have my first 100mil in the bank that didn't need to go toward powerscrolls, artifacts for my suits, or other necessities that I felt I needed for my character's development. I've met and exceeded this goal with the current event, so have set my sights on my next goal, which is to get enough gold to be able to buy a Luna house. I'm actually starting to reconsider this goal. I'm not sure if I really want a Luna house anymore, and am having a hard time deciding one way or the other on it. I'm finding lately that I miss the extra time I had to wander around Ilsh hunting, time that is now being taken up with maintaining my vendors and getting additional stock to keep them full. I've still got plenty of time to make the decision as I'm only a little more than halfway to the 400mil I estimated I'd need to make the purchase, but the more I think about it, the harder the decision is.

Anyway......I was just curious what everyone else's goals in game were.

To be able to solo all 6 peerlesses, halfway there. Probably not going to happen at the rate all these people are *****ing about something that has no effect on them.

My goals change all the time. I'm kinda all over the place with what I'm trying to do at any given time.

I think my goal for tonight is going to be to figure out if greater dragon paragons drop good loot (never killed one).

I have a goal to build a really sweet pvp caster suit.

I'm constantly setting goals to try new and truly bizarre templates. Most of them turn out to be horribly ineffective for one reason or another. Sometimes I come up with stuff that is really powerful.

I have a goal to deco my house in a way that looks really good and has lots of storage. I want to have the storage not look like storage, so the house ultimately looks like it's just there to look good.

I have goals to get various 5x max mod items.

OOps. Forgot one of my most serious goals. I have a goal to get 1 of each super-slayer scrappers. So far I have Undead, Demon and Reptile. I really wish I had bought that ele slayer one I saw for sale a while back.

I have a goal to get every 20 PS on one or 2 of my chars.

I don't really have a goal in UO , i just take day by day.

I do love in-game parties , and it's been ages since i had a party in my private beach somewhere in trammel (with no housing and no spawn)
Maybe i should try to host the biggest beach party ever.

for me, i enjoy getting home from a hard day at work and logging into "happy land" where i have a huge house and cool pets and cool friends :)
UO also feeds my OCD-ish tendencies... like right now, my OCD-ish side is having a blast trying to get 1,000,000 points on the 10 shards i have chars on... it's sort of turned into an obsession. this only became a realistic goal when i realized they weren't planning to shut off the casca quest after the first week... 1,000,000 points per shard will allow me to buy my main char on each shard a full sorcerer's suit (600k points) and a full luck jewel set (300k points). with 100k leftover for me to get one piece of knight's or scout's armor (which will eventually make it back to my house on napa). it takes a long time to get that many points, but it's sure fun to try.

In no particular order (and not a complete list)...
Make a localization inspection mod for KR that lets you single-out new localized text.
Make a better mod for extracting text from books.
Help Zym with whatever he needs to finish up his Legacy mod.
Get a Crimson Cinture.
Learn Gargish well enough to not need to regularly use a reference.
Learn the Runic Alphabet well enough to not need to regularly use a reference.
Make a mod to enable translations of spoken text from common UO languages into English (and maybe worth with others to expand that into other languages as well) (ie: Somebody says "Ku Ort", it comes up as "Ku[with] Ort[magic]" or "Ku Ort [with magic] or "Ku Ort" above Sombody's head, and "Sombody: Ku Ort" "Somebody [translation from Gargish]: With Magic" or something...)
Get all the powerscrolls that would let me get my characters to my desired templates.

To keep on having fun in UO, a goal that can never be achieved. But what is the point of achiving the goal? so that I can have an excuse to quit? The goal that is associated with the items (gold, houses, rares) are subject to the mercy of cheaters (scripters/dupers/etc.) and game design changes. As matter of fact, there is not many items left in the game that envies a powergamer. Val runic hammer used to be THE GOAL for any BODers and it took me 4 years to get it. Look at it now. The list goes on - a full set of doom arty, rare event/server birth items... either got duped out of wazoo or made easier to get.

On the other hand, interacting (trade, kill/be killed, help, or plain chat) with other players and exploring the unkown of the game in an enjoyable way sound more attractive to me.

I have no goal other than to just play and have fun.

I don't know really all I want to do is play , I do not need an uber suit, or millions in the bank, my house is for logging out, thats it.

Wow, almost the reply I was going to put, word for word... But since you beat me to it....

I've always felt that if you're not playing to have fun, why are you even playing?

I am just now starting to reach some goals I set for myself over 5 years ago, through simple playing. Other goals had to change with the game, but were replaced by new ones...

And I've done it having fun all the way.

Up till recently I didnt have any goals since most of mine have been met in the past. I took up making a shard rune library and a rares museum.

I already had a few decent rares and I started marking rune books earlier in the year. I opened for the first time a second account so I could use 2 houses for both of my interests.

Now over 140 runebooks and a lot of gold in rares later, Im still not done! I always get new ideas for new rune books so I continously add on and theres so many rares in the game its nearly impossible to have all of them. So there you have it. I have 2 goals.

1) to have the best active shard rune library

and

2) to build a worth while rares museum

My goal is to have all my valuable items packed up into my characters' bank accounts within the next 2 months so that I can cancel my account prior to being billed again... I'm not saying this just to be negative, that truly is my goal.

Re: What's Your Goal?

Whatever it is, I havent reached it after 10 years.

I enjoy collecting rares.. RPing mah thief.. I try to play a lot of active quests/events (if history says anything, this is where a lot of those rare items are handed out) and I loved all of the player establishments from years past.. even those off of Pacific (Catskills = best RPing) Still have a guy in Gathered Spirits.. Hmm.. Looking for ways to make easy gold.. (unlike most here, ive rarely had over 10mil.. spend it as soon as i get it..) I dont use UOA.. or icq (anymore) My rare lvl 12 cloth map/pin set is in the basement somewhere.. thinking about roleplaying 'a plague rat' (sherry tha mouse, your days are numbered..) Thinking about leaving a buncha trapped boxes everywhere.. (need a shack in the Trinsic jungle first..) Maybe ill finally make a tamer..? (lol) Magic trapping other peoples doors is always fun.. so is dropping 500+ eggs and bandies inside the house.. spelling out 'FL Sucks' on top of the mage building.. hiring an NPC, and stealthing around having them follow you..

Its a big sandbox man.

Smash it up.

My goal is to try to keep from getting bored and quitting before the next expansion comes out. Seriously.

With that in mind I restock my vendors every day because I try and make myself believe that other people are counting on me. Otherwise I would possibly take a break on my subscription until the next expansion.

At the moment I think 4x Legendary Bard will keep me busy, just got the music scroll so just have to get in the mood to work hard on provoke and discord (have had those). He sometimes wonders what happened to his friends Tellute, Dell, and his old guildmaster Cherveny. He keeps a small shrine to them when the house is in order.

My niece the smith really would like a Valorite hammer, but that's not going to happen anytime soon. She'd like to make an artifact with her name on it (or artifact level anyway.)
My ..umm.. rogue... wants Legendary stealth, Gm Remove trap, Legendary Thief (not even close) and lots of jewels. He thinks begging is fun too, but hasn't been working on it much.

My sorceress sister-in-law would eventually like to Legendary, but I've never been rich so that's a long way away unless I start vending. She wants to summon the red-robed ones to correct the injustices of the lands, to wipe things clean and begin anew. Can't say I want her to get that goal at the moment.

The undead warrior would like to find his lost love, but his memory is pretty sparse and he hasn't remembered exactly who she (or he) is yet.

My "brother" has been working on bowcraft and lumberjacking. Someday he'd like to make unique furniture or bows, and remember what happened to him during the Troll wars.

The strange elven lady that rents a room seems to want to be a legendary tamer/necro/mage someday.

Goals I've done in 10+ years:
House plot big enough for all my characters (haven't designed it, but probably 2 or 3 houses.)
Legendary Bard.
Legendary Smith.
GM Lockpicking.
GM Hiding.
GM Detect Hidden.
GM Alchemist (before the new menus)
GM Incription (before the new menus)
GM Carpenter
GM Tinker
GM Miner
GM archer, swords, fencing, macing, armsman, healer.
A nice evening with a Seeress.
A nice chat with a Dragoness.
Saving the world.

I'm still trying to figure out how to do that, but it's the goal.

My goal now is to obtain a castle in both trammel and felucca. I could live with a keep in fel though but I need a tram castle to fill with rares. That has been my goal since day one of this game though. I think I have seen and accomplished everything else I ever wanted to in this game I just keep playing for fun and one of these days when I get the cash I will grab the castle for my museum to reside in.

To be a PvP God. Which I've succeeded.

You see, *everyone* can be a PvP God, for which my definition is (a far superior definition compared imho) anyone who is capable of performing at his personal very best, regardless of the magnitude of opponent firepower. In other words, even if you die to your opponent, if you've done your very best, you die with no regrets, and you're a PvP God.

While this does not necessarily require (per se) top gear, but top gear is helpful in the UO context as it better allows you to execute your best (most brilliantly thought up) pvp strategies and templates.

From years of PvP research in UO, I've figured out the most effective templates, suits and strategies to make one highly survivable, almost unkillable, which makes pvp (particularly duels) all the more fun - when both opponents are supremely tough to kill, it forces both to do their best, to come up with the most cunning strategies, to do each other in.

UO is (more) fun when you're a PvP God.

Forensic Evaluation needs to be beefed to adding a tracking type arrow showing the killer, which work at much (much) farther distances than normal activated Tracking. It should also give a brief excerpt of how the creature / person died. What skills and/or attacks were used against them? If spells were used against that person, how high was the murderer's Evaluate Intelligence and Magery? Things like that.

Taste ID should tell you not only if it's poisonous (does it still?), but also who poisoned it. (Among other things.)

Item ID should tell you if the item was stolen, who stole it, and who it was stolen from. (Among other things.)

Item ID & Taste ID should work inside backpacks of others if Snooped.
