The following suggestions seem to be more common sense:

Don't buy gold - and the scripters will have no one to sell gold to.
Don't act like a fool in the internet - and the hackers will have no one to grief.
Don't buy from Luna vendors but trade fairly with players in-game - and all the boting/farming/scripting accounts will lose their customers.

If you don't like the game - Quit!
If you like the game - adapt your play style to be less item based!

you'd kinda have to be a moron to play a UO2 though... with all the scripting/duping going on now. ultima is fun and all, i suppose, but there is absolutely no way in hell i will ever be playing or buying anything from EA again. they just can't be trusted to care about their own games or their customers.

Now i'm addicted again...and now i'm probably addicted till the end.

Till EA forces me to quit by pulling the plugs.

It's not the game itself but it's the pets and the houses and decoration.

Unfortunately the OP is correct. But noone will do it, because IT HONESTLY IS CRACK. And Mina got it right. It's not the GAME ITSELF. It's what we, the players "OWN" in the game and who the players interact with, like friends and guildmates with which we have become emotionall tied. Quitting UO is a form of emotional self-blackmail after 10 years, if the term makes sense... I surely cannot describe it better.

UO is simply like crack... + it's the first online game i ever played.

So UO sort of de-virginised me when it comes to online gaming.
They say you never forget your first...and it's true...i'll never forget the first online i played.

While i played WoW...i compared everything from WoW to UO.

i kept missing houses...i kept missing my own stuff..orginality of my own character , my pets.

Every month i wondered how things were going in UO...who of my old friends were still playing.
I kept wondering if my pets would still be in my stables.

My bf even named one of his WoW chars 'Delucia' cause we both used to fight for DDi (Minax) and had some great time back then.

I met my bf through UO even...

I freakin' grew up with UO...i've been playing UO when i was a teen..i'm now in my mid-20's.

It's just sad to see it decay...filling up with more and more scum...scamming people , duping things...greedy people hungry for pixel money...even trying to scam their old friends whom they've known for years , just for pixel money.

I'm always glad when i meet honest people with a good heart.
They are the true UO player that contribute a good spirit to UO.

All this duping and scamming people is scaring away the FEW good people that are left.
The population is already devided by 10 compared to the old days.

EA already has plenty of resources to be able to (re)make a UO2 without all of us killing off original UO in the process, they did the first time too, they just got scared (biggest mistake EA has EVER made in terms of potential revenue lost, just look at what WoW turned into).

UO2 will happen one day, it would be unthinkable not to make a sequel for such a successful, loved and enduing game whos (all time) earnings are (easily) in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

I live and run a vendor in Luna and I am not a scripter or chaeter and I pride myself on running low cost vendors. I have researched and found that my vendors are cheaper then those outside of Luna too. So dont be so rushed to judge all the Luna Home owners. I do agree that some are WAY over priced and I myself simply dont shop there. I refuse to pay 900k for a soulstone frag from a tradespot house when right down the street I can get it for 300k (only example , I dont need frags). So maybe rephrasing it to "Dont buy from the overpriced vendors (not just in luna) and then those overpriced will have to drop the cost of their goods"

The internet is like crack to some but UO isnt. Personaly I like getting outside to much , a sunny day with a cool breeze is my crack.

They already pulled funds AWAY from UO for other games, what would ever delude you into thinking a loss of players would drive them to redirect moneys into another UO?

We've seen their renewal attempts. UOTD and KR are what you have to look forward to. Ugly, buggy, and undersupported. Do you really want the same team that made those to try and build a new UO?

UO has thrived this long on aspects of the game that are left from when RG put it together with the OSI division of EA. RG got sick of them screwing up his ideas and sold the bulk to them and walked.
OSI got canned and absorbed into other games.
Now EA/Mythic doesn't even list UO on their website.

It doesn't take a 190 IQ to see what they think of the game. It is a little side-hobby that they occasionally send a bored GM to visit. They will do exactly what it takes to keep the majority here and nothing more.

I don't think there will ever be an UO2.

Do you know how long they've been 'planning' to create UO2?
They started it...but never finished it...and deleted it from the 'to do list'.

Kingdom Reborn is quite sad...nice atempt to copy WoW.
Their 3D client should be the best one...to attempt to lure some people.
Cause not everyone loves those 2d graphics.
I do cause i'm used to them...but people who are used to play EQ or WoW or DAOC will not be convinced with these bad graphics...aspecialy if they contain a record amount of bugs and players ready to scam you , right from day one.

I also think EA has given up on UO and is focussing on other bigger games.
I understand it's hard to keep a 10 year old game intresting.
But ignoring your customers is not the way to convince people to stay.
+ very vague about weither things are being done or not.

Even the future of UO is very vague...will UO still be here next year? Noone knows...
We never get an exact date or a 'could be around that time'.

I love UO and i know it could recapture it's glory of EA puts some effort in it.
But i'm afraid that won't help...


+the old dev team that made me fall in love with UO left and is now the dev team of SWG.
I seriously don't trust the new devs.

I would say yes , but first I'm trying to give it to players I know , just so the gold sellers wont get any of it , after that maybe drop pieces around the server sort of a mini easter egg hunt. I would just give it all to friends but they are already near max storage from other players doing the same.
