Are selling kegs good bussiness?

I doubt that the profit margin you would get for selling kegs would be worth the time it takes to make the kegs and fill them.

Since they added in stackable potions (with hotbar/hotkey usage in KR WITHOUT the need for UOA), I've totally ditched all my kegs. Easier to have a secure with one stack of each used potion type than however many kegs. Less item count, easier to grab the potions I need.

Tried a potion vendor not too long ago and it didn't do so hot.

It isn't good business. Despite inflation, players still expect kegs to cost the same 5,000 gold per they did 8 years ago.

well it not "they breaking the door down rush" to buy, but I do ok on my vendors, so will keep selling them by the keg.

greater heal kegs are probably your best best, but even those sell for a meager 6k or so. i have an alchemist and i haven't bothered selling anything because it's really not worth it.

High turnover, low profit type of "good" business, yes. As pointed out, keg prices haven't kept up with inflation, but thankfully neither have reagent prices.

Means you're doing more "work" per gp but at least you get a steady income from it. Basically, very few basic crafts compare with goldfarming for profitability, but ask yourself how you want to spend your time. If you're content/happy making up kegs & selling them, rather than say beating on troglodytes *yawn*, then do it.

You can price all your kegs like dp/gh/gc/stam and such at 10k and they would sell. Most people these days dont care what they cost, and will buy them. Trust me i know =>

But, stackable potions are the way to go these days. Id rather have a stack of 60k pots than 600 kegs any day.

I have had a mixed result on selling kegs sometime I can keep them on the vendor for weeks sometimes not even days. I decide to do a package deal and add plant items in and they have seemed to do well if not better for me.

Ya but a keg takes 10 bottles where your stack potions takes 60,000 bottles, sure you have one item but those 60k of bottles cost $300,000gp. Where a keg cost me hardly anything as most I can get myself and make. 10 bottles cost 50gp. And I am selling Gexp for 10k a keg, same with DP, my GP is going for 5500gp, the rest I sell at 5k per keg and this way I get repeats on my vendor.

I've always offered a mix of kegs and bottles, though I price the kegs a little cheaper as they're not as expensive to construct. I find they sell as well as they did before stacking bottles, probably because fewer sellers stock kegs now.

Well, I just recently gotten back into selling Kegs. That is mostly because my Bro just recently acquired a Luna House. I started by trying to sell off the kegs I created via training my newest alchemist. Those have since sold. When I have the time I try to make more to stock up, but I'm not going to go hard core. I'm not doing it to make money, however.

I try to keep 3 GH/GC on my vendor at all times and put on others as I have the regs. Gathering the regs take a good amount of time or money. I originally priced my kegs at the old price of 5k each. I may have to raise my price, now that I actually have to put some effort into it. I see most in Luna keg vendors sell for 7.5k. You won't make millions off of Kegs, but you could build retailer/customer relationships with people. I buy my own regs from NPCs for 3-5 each and make my own kegs from resources I gather, including bottles, so i don't spend alot to create them. Throw in the fact that I am still training alchemy, it works for me.

Good luck!

there are people out there who are very rich that are willing to pay MORE for bulk kegs delivered to their Felucca home or guild house. you would think bulk price would be lower, but in UO, because of the inflation it is HIGHER because people don't want to make the kegs themselves and they don't want to fool around buying them off vendors.

let's say someone wanted 100 each keg Gheal, Gcure. the normal price is what? 5-10k each. that is 1-2 mil. I bet someone would pay 3-4 mil if you actually made 100 each keg and delivered them to a secure in their house, ready for them to use.

same with the bottles. if someone wants stacks of 60k bottles, they may be willing to pay the premium for someone to make and deliver them to their home. people just don't want the hassle.

same goes for other stuff like remove curse apples or any PvP equipment. a lot of PvP'ers hate stocking their house and just want an unlimited supply of everything they need without having to worry.

At GM Alchemy with no Talisman, based on Base NPC pricing for resources, these are the approximate costs of creating these full kegs. (Empty Keg ~300 included in these costs)

NS - 600
GA - 1800
GS - 1800
TR - 2800
GC - 2900
GH - 2600
GE - 4600
GP - 1600
DP - 12000

GConflag - 5300
GConfusion - 4600
Invis - 4400

I have a Fel based vendor house. I have vendors that sell 10 of each type of pot and they sell out almost every day. I put kegs on there just in case I run out of pots and someone is in need. I do this also because I'm selling nearly 800 bottles every day and that adds up in a hurry.

Though it's not a business that will make you extremely rich (the best way I personally think is killing monsters for leather. I sell barbed leather at about 175 gp per, which does add up. If you go dragon killing in Wind with say, a greater dragon you can run up and down to the bank easily and you have the loot of the daemons and drakes spawning there), it's still something that can be a lot of fun and very rewarding. If you have a well stocked potion vendor on a good location you can sell a lot every day. And people will love you for it ;).
