there are a lot of new players on SP right now. SP is starting to look like a shard again. A lot of these new players are hitting 70s and are complaining that ROT 2.1 a day just sucks. can ya plz redo rot?? before we lose our new players.
all we want is:
-2.1 a day changed to around 10 points a day
-timers cut in half
-rot to start at 80 instead of 70

if this isn't possible, can yas think about putting black-rock spawn back in? or power hr? or spawns that drop alacrity scrolls like the last event, the spawn was at the 3 shrines?

Please help our new players! We're happy to have them and would like them to have the ability to play, instead of trudge through 6 months of training, which many have given up on in the past. :please:

It is possible and we shouldn't settle for less than what we deserve. No half-assed solutions. No blackrock or power hour or whatever...Just give us a ROT change and make it a good one devs.

You say Siege players are only a small percentage of the population so we're not worth the time, but you forget that if you'd spend just a little more time on us we'd have many more people. See past the current numbers when you think about changes and see the real numbers (players that might move from one shard to a shard like Siege, vets that may return, etc...).

As far as the specifics of the change, it needs to be a major change. Some people still suggest a small change. If you plan to do some small tweak, then you might as well just ignore Siege and not waste the time. A small change is just that...a waste of time.

As for your posted suggestion krystal, the timers need to be reduced by more than half. And I don't see why we should move ROT from 70 to 80, plus that's just another part of the change which might add on more time. Leaving it at 70 is good.

because mas when 120's were put in uo, Rot was never adjusted. we dont want to make gaining super easy, just shouldn't have to take 6 months of logging in every day.

i suggest black rock, power hour or alacrity scrolls, because someone said that a dev member said its hard to fix rot (cause its old). so for the time being this simple solutions would help greatly until they figure out how to go about fixing rot. im just thinking of the current flow of new players on sp right now. and there are a lot of them. i hate to lose more new people yet again...

How about keeping the current gain limits and intervals, but making the limits PER SKILL, not total of all skills?
ie. You can train 1, 2, 3 or however many skills 3.6 per day from 70.0 to 79.9, gaining .1 every 5 min.

this is why i dont play SP, what are you suppose to do with such an underpowered character when you cant gain anymore that day??? i mean i guess i could go farm a weak enemy, but what fun is that if i cant gain, its not like i can log on to another character and work on them, nope just stuck playing a newbie for months, i have patience but not for a game that i played a million times when you have to be a newbie for such a long time, honestly id rather play a different shard or game, its not the difficulty that drives me away, its not being able to go hunt with people until 6 months or longer from now, mongbats and cows get old after a while when you fight them all the time......i really feel sorry for the crafters, what will they do once they have gained for the day?

O god please don't lower the start point; poisoners would revolt.
I am all for boosting the skill gain per day.

I play a good bit. I spend a lot of my time lately on siege. I've hit the ROT cap now and it's really boring. it's more of a grind than I want to be involved in.
I'm most likely going to stop playing siege after it gets bad enough because my skills are too underdeveloped to compete in a lot of areas without months of work ahead. I already did the hard part on the prodo shards and don't feel like doing it even worse.

What you said in your first paragraph has nothing to do with why we should up the ROT start point to 80 and why we should maintain high time delays (yes half the timer would still be high).

Blackrock/alacrity scrolls benefit the vets far more than a newer player. People who are new (the people we are mainly asking for a change for in the first place)/non-PvPers/the less wealthy should not be disadvantaged in training. Nor should we settle for some half-ass solution because the devs don't want to take the time to give us a real ROT change. If we do settle for that, they won't come back and do it right. We're stuck with whatever change they do give us. If not forever, for a very long time at least. It would be better to have a change now of course but if we have to wait because the devs won't listen, then I guess we have to wait. It's better to wait than be stuck with the wrong change. If they do give us the wrong change you can count on at least one person leaving for good since I know there would be no point in staying. Just saying... (no doubt many of you want that though hehe).

Wow. So whiny power gaming has finally hit Siege now eh? The idea behind RoT is that you *gasp* actually play your character instead of "train" your character to max before starting. Can you run around in god mode after a day of playing on Siege? No, and that's the way the shard is meant to be played. You are meant to have to "suffer" through playing your character with less than max stats and skills. It is a shard meant for veteran players who don't have to play with god mode turned on from second one. If that is the experience you are looking for, try playing test.

Hell, my Siege character STILL doesn't have max skills and stats and I started him back in 2000.

Many Siegers support a change that would make training take around a month. With the skill point cap increase I suggested, it would take 3-4 weeks. Of course, that number assumes you log in every day and get your max gains a day. Most players are not power gamers. For this reason, I suggested a skill gain "reservoir" to give you some extra points if you missed a day. This would help decrease the gap between the power, normal, and casual gamers and make it possible for someone who does not play as much to still complete their character in 3-4 weeks. Of course, at this point I'm not sure that's realistic since the devs seem to think it will consume too much time for a skill gain cap and timer change alone.

So to repeat, the suggested change would be 3-4 weeks and that would assume you get on every day and get your max gains a day, which means most players will take longer (and for some significantly longer) than 3-4 weeks.

Now how on Sosaria is that an "instant," "overnight," or "god mode" training? Too many people talk this "instant" crap when no one is suggesting anything of the sort. Nor am I suggesting removal of ROT, just a major change to it. So there is nothing "god mode" about it. Much faster than now? Yes. Still reasonable and in no way "instant?" Yes.

"You are meant to have to "suffer""

This is such a bs argument. Most who make this argument (though apparently not you) do so for no other reason than they had to "suffer" through long, boring, stupid and pointless training, and so should others. It is very selfish and it is hurting Siege. Players shouldn't have to "suffer" through training. I guess you don't realize or don't care that our population and community is also "suffering," no thanks to ROT.

"Hell, my Siege character STILL doesn't have max skills and stats and I started him back in 2000."

Thanks for adding this support to the pro- ROT change argument.

Also, if you're one who thinks long, boring, pointless training somehow makes the game more enjoyable and adds to the "experience," then might I suggest you place artificial limits on your own character to make his training take longer. There is no reason for others to have to "suffer" because you believe in tedium.

Btw, some players, such as myself, have been asking for a ROT change for a longgggggggg arse time. And depending on your definition of long, manyyyy posters (Siege and non-Siegers alike) have also been asking for a ROT change for a long time. This is nothing new as you suggest it is.

"actually play your character"

Many players I assure you are not playing their character. Many if not most of those who don't leave are logging in, logging out until their next gain, and doing that until the gains are up for the day. That, by my definition anyway, is not "playing your character."

One last thing....your entire argument is void when you consider that anyone willing to spend a few extra bucks can completely bypass training by buying an account. If that's not instant I don't know what is.

I don't want to have max skills my first weak on siege. but I hit seventy for every skill in no time. All it does is push me to only "play" my character for long enough to get gains then hit my prodo shard. As a new player to the shard it's a huge problem. I don't want to have god mode turned on. I don't want it to even be easy. I'm not interested in playing siege because it's so 'hard.' Siege takes players down a notch by forcing them to face the possibility of losing their items to thieves or pks. it makes your more responsible for how you treat people and how much extra crap you carry with you. i don't mind there being ROT. but a migraine headache isn't hard mode. it's just an annoyance that can be fixed by tweaking rot. it's not that bad now but i'm DREADING the thought of going to 120 in anything.

Im one of these fairly new Seige players and I disagree. I wouldnt feel right knowing that other folk had it harder then me. Give me my slow gaines, It should take me a good while to be competitive, But Its merely my opinion, No flaming neccessary

Except that there's a difference between long, boring, pointless and hard. A common argument against a ROT change used to be that it makes our shard harder. But that argument is ridiculous. There's nothing hard about training on Siege. Training could take 10 years. It still wouldn't be any part of what makes Siege the "hard shard."

a lot of vets like to say they had a hard time but i think they forget that we really didn't. at the beginning every skill was not in rot, only certain skills were. then they made it to were all skills were rot but when they did that we had power hr, the gate hop bug, server line gains (this way of gaining made no cap on rot). also like 4+ yrs ago to get the sp population going they took out ROT and had 8x8 gains for like 6 month or so.
ohh ya another thing when u started here u got a gift bag, it had a CBD, 10k gold and a ticket. 10k in gold back then was a lot of gp!

anyways! point being FIX ROT!!

Yeah, but it takes three times as long to get heard over there as it does here and you need at least 70 posts to post on that forum, so...

Something needs to be done about RoT. If I hadn't Rot'd my chars when the BR training was active, I don't think I would have ever trained them.

I would be in support of removing RoT all together and having Siege skill training work like other shards.

wish they would at least give us an answer of FoF!! :wall:
Jeremy gave an answer not too long ago. They are looking into it, but the code for RoT isn't as simple as you would think so it will take some time to come up with a solution.

I'd think that with Draconi in Japan for a week and a townhall coming up that a few things probably got pushed back until they get back.

She blew smoke. It's time for an update...la
Yup Yup she did blow smoke back on April 04,2008

She addressed RoT and even explained what RoT is for non Siege players.
Let's remember something here though it has not been 4 months yet so for
the EA team they are on time as far as looking into/ doing something.

Here is what was posted about RoT

"Can we ever get the RoT system adjusted/removed/looked at on Siege?"

(For non-Siege players, the RoT - Rate over Time - system is a method of limiting how fast players can gain skill on Siege-ruleset shards.)

This is something that has long been requested, and is definitely something we'd like to look at. I checked with the various Lords and Ladies of the Schedule, and it looks like we're not going to have time to get any changes in for the next publish, but I will continue to to bring it up for a publish after that. In the meantime, if you have specific opinions about the RoT system, send me feedback!

I created a toon on SP almost 2 years ago. I have barely played him because RL keeps me way too busy to spend time gridning away at skill gains. What little gaming time I have these days I dedicated to my PS3 and to my home shard (Legends).

I'd love to play more on Siege, but ROT is a deal breaker for me.
