Ok my very first battle with Melissa, I got the cloak and the ticket. But about 20 go arounds later, I haven't gotten a second one.

I'm using a pally archer, shooting her full of bolts with my Night Reaper crossbow. With EoO, CW and DF, a combo i can only do a 2-3 times, I hit her for about 45 points a second.

Is it the TOP damager who gets the nod, or how many out of the group are usually included in the consideration? Because with the Greater Dragon tamers, I'll never be at the top. But I wager I'm at least in the top 5 out of 10 or so. Does this cut it?

At least I'm making out like a bandit with the ingredients and gold... so even without the trinket it's still fun.

Except for the law that every paragon balron will pick me out and never, ever untarget me.

You only get one per character, log on another character and take them down there to get your second one.

You can only get one of those per character.

If the paragon won't un-target you, run out through the south teleporter, which (on LS anyway) takes you to the FoA/Evil Mage level, and less than a 20 second run back to the pentagram and back in the fight.

Ok, so do my secondary characters need to do a majority level of damage?

I mean can I bring my cowardly little tailor in there, plink her with a few arrows and then duck for cover? Or does he have to do a lion's share of the damage?

i even fought melissa with my crafter and got the cloak and the 25K points on the first try. Bring some greater explo pots and prolly put on some EP jewelry. Should be easy enough.

Heres a tip Prince. Take your crafters or nooby non fighters on any and all accounts you have and bring Greater Explode pots like the other poster said. You don't even need the enhance pots stuff if you don't have it or don't want to insure/lose it. I used 30 per non fighter character and got rights every time. If it's a newly created character go ahead and put 50 hiding on him/her just to help avoid the spawn until Melissa spawns. You might even get away with using less explode pots. All ya need is looting rights.

If your crafters have Magery just cast a couple of EV's and let 'em go at it. Keep the EV's up and you'll get looting rights.

Which is 1/16th the overall damage, and Ill tell you what. I take the balrons down a lot faster then the greater dragons do on my archer, I mean a lot faster. So Id assume Im doing higher damage on Mellissa then the greaters as well, Can I ask why you folks are using your night reapers on this chick? Use a bow youd use in a PvP situation. Oh sorry this isnt in regards to the quote but if you get targeted by a balron while fiting mellisa cast Eo1 again, this will prevent the balron from hitting you for 80 damage in a full 70s suit. Ive done about 30 runs, scored a handful of minors off the paras, 3 pearl neclaces, 3 robes(these dont look to be anything special anyways) handful of taint scourge putrification and a ton of other ingrediants and some really decent non enhanced stuff with 0 luck.

Indeed, don't use the night reaper on Melissa, use a good pvp or non slayer pvm weapon with great mods. I just use the bows I use on the peerless (non slayer) or a mage. Or a tamer. Or a bard. Or a crafter. LOL

I took crafters and never trained charactors down there, all were carrying exp Potions, setting up a macro using last object, last target they would toss the potions at Melissa and get a cloak and ticket everytime. My biggest problem down there was if a balron was in the mix with Melissa he would be after the person tossing those potions as he hated getting hit by the flying glass of the bottles I tossed, so sometimes I died before she fell, not getting the cloak or ticket and having to wait for her to appear once more.

I also carried invis scrolls and used to keep my never trained people hid while waiting for Melissa.

A lot of folks don't know this but Balrons don't have a very good medical insurance plan. In fact their vision benefits only cover their yearly eye exams. Expenses like surgery (to repair detached retinas from flying glass) is pretty much 100% out-of-pocket for them.

You can bet they're gonna come after you for your insurance money if you get a chunck of flying glass from an explosion pot in their eyes.

Oh, don't even get me started on their dental plan... all the chipped teeth they get from getting smashed in the mouth with shields or pikes isn't covered either.

Iam on the understanding every char will get a 25k ticket and cloak so long as they use the summon word for melisa and do a really lil damage and dont die b4 she does...

Only the top 3 or 4 hitters get looting rights for the pearl necklace chance.

More people get looting rights than that, and everybody with looting rights has equal chance at getting the necklace. It's just normal loot as far as the looting system is concerned.

There's no need to say "eored" in order to get the ticket and cloak.

If you die and are rezzed before Melissa dies, you will get the ticket and cloak, if you did sufficient damage.

If you accidentally step on the teleporter and leave the room, you will also get the ticket and cloak if you manage to race back into the room before Melissa dies and of course, assuming you did sufficient damage.

If "she" is giving you a pearl necklace you are doing something wrong.
Heeeee!

Edited to add something that was actually constructive to the thread...

I got looting rights on my crafter by using a mage weapon bow alone. This may not work if there's 10+ greater drags around, but if you play it smart it'll get the job done.

Lol, i was wondering when someone was gonna say something like that.

Great Wyrms only do about 30-40 damage a hit to Melissa, 120 at full health with Firebreath. I used a High Stat/Resist/Skills one that was Fully Trained. Other time i killed her with my Tamer/Mage, i had another Tamer/Mage use his Great Wyrm to tank, while i used my 2 Fire Steeds. Each Fire Steed was doing 40-70 damage a kick to her, easily out damaging the Great Wyrm. So long as something is tanking, and the target doesn't have AoE Spells/Abilities/Aura, no other pet can beat 2+ Firesteeds in terms of damage (Unless the target is very Fire resistant.)
