Anybody else crashing on recall?

I think I've crashed about 30x now when recalling or using teleporters. Started a few days ago, but has gotten worse.

Yes...It has happened for a LONG time....but does seem worse lately.

Every single time I use the Luna moongate with a golem basher spamming near it, I crash...also whenever I leave a peerless area....and whenever I trade something in the trade window and someone casts a spell when I click to accept the trade.

This has been happening for almost 2 months now.

Like I said in the other topic.. most of this is caused by someone nearby dragging an object at the same time as you teleport. Most people now are going to places where a lot of fighting and looting is going on, so of course it will seem to happen more often.

try recalling when someone is dragging an item from a corpse, specially down at Melissa, I crash every time I leave there, either by recalling or hitting the teleport pad while they are dragging items in the corpse. I hope they do something to fix it!

Never in my UO life has this happend to me untill Mellisa. Every single time i recall out of there i crash. It may very well have somthing to do with people dragging items nearby as this is no dout happening in there, however it is somthing that should be adressed asap. I more often then not recall into Luna so safety isnt an issue, just the annoyence of it, however the first two times i recalled to my house and was distrressingly killed both times by a dam reaper that spawns out the front of my house. I didnt lose any items as i quickly rezzed and killed that rascally reaper :lick:

But yeah, it could start getting quite annoying.

Adding my voice to the frustration. Using teleporters, recalling etc. CONSTANT crashes. I have been back a week and a hald now. My 30 days isnt up yet. This had better not be how the game is now.

happens to me occasionally.

A few weeks ago I found a bug that crashed everytime I right clicked to move ontop of britain bank. It hasn't happened since that day but Im sure its a reoccuring bug.

I've been crashing on recall...

I've also crashed twice using a moongate in the past week (never have prior)

I've also crashed I can't tell you how many times leaving the Melissa part of the most recent event.

Crashed earlier on entering Labyrinth while someone was putting their stuff on. Of course, Miasma just happened to be waiting at the entrance.

And what's with summons acting even dumber than before? Lost count of the number of times EV's would just mosey around while a critter was on my tail.

I even crashed when recalling from the item turn in place behind. someone must have been giving an item. it is really quite annoying

Yes, I have been crashing almost every time I use certain teleporters. I mostly crash in Melissa when I am leaving.

Sometimes on recall. Recall always takes me where I'm recalling too... sometimes good, other times bad
Sometimes at certain banks when opening/closing back box and recalling
Often in the new quest areas

I crash a lot, more often than not, going thru the luna moongate. It Never happens at any other gate but that one.

I've been crashing at Melissa, and in the Etherial Fortress.... For years i have Crashed anytime I have made a trade at any bank.... Used to be only Yew Bank but now it's al of them...... drives me crazy.....

I do it so often on IDOCs, got to thinking it was the norm, anymore.

This issue is actually not a NEW issue, however it has become worse as of late. This particular client crash has been around since KR went live. You can blame issues like this and others for the latests (and probably easiest) dupe in UO.

I often crash when I recall from Luna Bank to my house near Yew - perhaps one time in four. I am always at the destination when I log back in. Unlike another poster, I've never crashed recalling from Melissa. Perhaps it depends on the destination.

am having more crashes then usual, spec at the new quest places ,or crowded areas . can say in general more crashes on recal

Yup, Just started for me, Mainly at Melissa. Teleporter or recall. And it makes since that mine would possibley be from ppl dragging items but it needs to stop.

"Ok, I am getting ready to recall out, everyone refrain from looting the corpses, thanks. lol" :p

As I observed in the other thread
Surely that would make recalling to a busy bank nearly guaranteed to cause a crash?

I've been crashing like this since the dawn of UO time, but it definitely has been worse lately, and it has been especially worse recalling out of the Melissa event. I've also been crashing a lot when a character or pet dies near me. This crash has also be around since the dawn of UO time, but also seems to have been worse lately.

I've noticed this more lately, but for this event I'm going to places that I don't usually fight. Using the "sparkly" gate after fighting Melissa has done it to me the most. Never thought about the issue with folks moving loot until I read this thread but I could swear every time it happens an Imp is squeaking. (Or some kind of sound playing as I use the gate.)

Anyway... my 2 cents...

I haven't crashed once. Recalled out of there no problem several times. Had no issues with teleporters. I also have had no issues recalling from areas with lots of looting happening.

I wonder if the crashes are connected to something else? Like client settings, a certain type of hardware or software combination?

I am a playing a brand new install of the 2D client from the 8th age CDs with UOA. I typically play on an out of the box Dell, unmodified on windows XP. My CFG files are as of yet unmodified (I normally turn desolation off and trees back on for Felucca.)

I've experienced the crashes on recall/gate, and the crashes on nearby player/pet deaths across at least three completely different hardware configurations (including both Intel and AMD processors, and nVidia and ATI video cards), and three operating systems (Windows 95, 98SE and XP). I'm pretty confident it has nothing to do with my hardware or operating system and it's configuration.

This particular client crash has been around since KR went live.

My guess is it has nothing specifically to do with KR. As I said, I've had both of these problems for years, literally, although the crash issue with recalling from the Melissa event seems to be pretty specific, so it may well be that it isn't the same issue. But I would be pretty surprised if it had anything to do with the KR client, and I would be surprised if the KR client had the same problem at all.

My guess is it is a crash on a specific server/2D client interaction, and it isn't easily reproducible, so I expect these crashes have always been difficult to isolate and fix.

Exactly. The same with the nearby pet/player death crash. I've had that problem as long as I can remember as well.

How about rubber-banding in Fel? That was supposed to be fixed years ago.. still get it all the time =/

Yes, especially in the Mellissa area. Happens almost every time, if we don't move away from the room first. Very annoying. Luckily, we aren't usually going to another dungeon. That would truly suck.

But yes...lots and lots at Mellissa. Much more infrequently in other areas...even from other dungeons like Destard.

We play in the 2D client mainly, and have plenty of speed, good graphics cards, and RAM, if that makes any difference.

I'm crashing more and more now. Even if I go thru the portal to get out of the Melissa area - not just recalls/gates now! :-(

I said earlier that I had never crashed recalling from Melissa (but often recalling from Luna). I shouldn't have said that. I've now crashed the last three times I recalled from Melissa and once while fighting her. This is getting very annoying.

Crashing when recalling has been around seems like forever.

We just go through periods where it's worse and thus much more noticeable.

I've crashed 10 or 12 times now when recalling, in the last 3 or 4 days. Much more than normal.

I also have 25% of crash when I recall from Luna Bank to my vendor house near Umbra. It is so strange I never crashed when I recall from Luna Bank to my main residence in Ice Island (Felucca).

Just using recall normally i'm not crashing much more than normal which is about 1 out of 10. BUT..... In the new Melissa Area I seem to crash 4 our of 5 times when trying to directly recall out of her room. There is definately some issue with recalling out of her area that much i am certian.

A lot of players in Japan including me often experience these inconveniences.

- My 2D client, for example, crashed when I recalled from Melissa's room during I saw others looting items from Melissa's container(I normally use 2D to save journals when I participate in events). Many players reported similar cases.

- And many players also mention the instability of 2D client when they change characters in Luna.

Your 2D client will crash quite often, when you recall out or push log-out button during you see items go up and down in the air(=someone moves items from one container into another near you).

It is a very serious problem for Bulk players.

Bottom line is it *should* never have existed, and *should* be fixed ASAP, regardless of who is in Japan and who isn't!!:talktothehand:

Yes it IS the bottom line... BUT it should NOT happen almost every time of recalling, pulling or not. its a bug & should be looked at, it's not like we can't re-create it over & over for Dev's.
