"I wish to release this"

You may not release this while it is in a container
You may not pick up this item.

Its MY item, gimme. If there is an exploit with containers inside a locked container, mmmmk then don't let me put a container inside. Problem fixed without a lot of fanfair (like insured items on vendors). Why for all the goddesses among us can I not take out one item locked down inside?

For example: I have a metal box locked down for community donations. You drop in a bit o' gold on the pile you would like to donate or other items. I have to unlock it each time I want to retrieve one item? I'm not a lazy person, I promise! But seriously? The guilt felt the one time I forget to lock it down again or some unknown visitor swipes it in the process....seriously?

That's just one example I am currently experiencing. Are there more out there? If it's not an unreasonable request to have this reconsidered I would just like to put it out there. I know I read a thread on this when it first came out but it seems to have died down so perhaps it is already the norm and I as usual am not the norm *winks*

I have already seen houses that were, and had always been public, now made private. I saw a vendor house, add wall/doors behind the vendors, and made the doors private. And i agree, it is only a matter of time, when doing stuff in the house that we forget to lock the main chest back down again.

Because of this change, I've had to almost completely wipe the friends list on my houses so that they now only include my own characters or characters of people that I trust much more than others.

No longer can one of my characters that was just a "friend" on a house leave items at the house in a container, to be unlocked one at a time, if necessary, by my characters that own the house. Now if I need one item out of such a container, a character on the account that owns the house must unlock the entire container just to get to one item. After that, though, the character that had locked down the container originally can no longer get into it unless I make the container secure and set the access to friends. Can't do that if there are folks on my friends list that I don't want to have be able to access those items.

I will admit that this wasn't something I did often, but it was a handy thing to be able to do in a pinch....at least stuff I wanted to exchange between characters was out of sight in containers. I guess now if I want to do similar exchanges, I'll just have to leave the items dropped all over the floor.

Oh how I wish they would just expand the co-owners list so it would include a lot more than just 10 characters! It would sure solve a lot of problems.

Wow, thank you Lariat and Kelline but with 2 nods I'm thinking this will get filed in the "no interest" folder titled, "when hell freezes over."
*hugs for the thoughts*

It is really a shame EA can't fix a bug without disrupting everyone else. As i released some containters the other day, I was wondering how many folks will lose valuable stuff because they forgot to lock the container down again.

What's the big deal? Just make the container "secure." Problem solved, you can take items out as needed without unlocking.

Nothing to see here, move along...

Uhm.. the problem is that other ppl can´t drop anything INTO a secure container, unless they are set to anyone.. and then ANYONE can take stuff out.

Back in your other post a poster replied that people were exploiting the locked containers and storing more items than allowed.
My question to that was how can you place more weight or items in a container that holds 125 items and has a capacity of 400 stones? I think thats crap. Why do we have to suffer for a few people who exploit the system? Why can't they fix something right for a change?

My question was never answered.

this is a serious issue.

it is a major pain to have a bag/box/chest 'locked down' and have things you need inside.

what kind of crap fix is this anyhow ?

alot of us use 'locked down' instead of 'locked down and secure' because it allows us to let others see/access our belonging without being able to take them.

now...

in order to release one item, say bandages.. you have to release a box/chest/bag that potentially holds 125 items, this is a major problem.

also...

how does this actually fix anything ?
'lockdowns' are figured into our housng storage.. you have xxx lockdowns availiable...

ok when we secure a box/chest/bag then it automaticly deduct's the 125 items.. where as simply 'locking' a /bag/box/chest only uses one lockdown untill something is added to it,, then it sebtract's lockdowns availiable as item's are added to a max of the box/bag/chest 's item and weight..
secures give unlimited weight, but are still restricted to 125 items.

bottom line, don't fix something if it isn't broke ..
whats up with spellweaving focus anyhow ?

I'm gonna have to sign this too!..... Though I seriously wish they would come up with better systems for us on "friending" folk to our homes....

I have 8 accounts there are only so very FEW co-owner slots... most of the time I have to "friend" my own characters all 40+ of them ...... this is REALLY annoying.... And it means that NONE of my real "Friends" can be granted access to anything in my house..... I have to set things to "Guild" if I want them to have access..... But wait then my characters don't have access!??!?!?!? What I have to have only one "Guild" too for all my characters??? All my home owners have to be in the same Guild???? what if they aren't.... What if they are in the same Alliance but not the same Guild???? NO what I really need is a way to make friends friends and make my other accounts all Co-Owners.... cause really I am a co-owner of my own house!!!!

And then as for Guild Can't we have an "Alliance" Setting????

And what I would really really like is to have a way to make a room or a chest open to a "Renter".... So my Inn can work like an Inn..... folk can pay me "Rent" on a chest or room.... storage spot... Special setting on a door that has "Rental" quality or a deeded door that works kinda like a rent agreement or a chest that is deeded so you can "rent" it out like a vendor contract.... and if they don't pay or pick up their things it goes into the house sign for a special period of time until it becomes the home owners property..... But like vendors once set they can not be moved... Only the renter has access to the stuff inside.....

That's my 2 shillings.

While it IS an annoyance, it is also a major inconvenience to many players. Is it game stopping? No *sighs* but surely this could have been thought out better? I know the devs are busy but can more than this "quick fix" be done?

As long as the exploit is fixed, I wouldn't be opposed to them fixing this.

Instead of this implementation, they should just fix the primary exploit - make unlocked items in locked down containers decay, problem solved - legit players aren't punished.
