I decided to create hi detail maps for each facet today because there didn't seem to be any around on the web.

The entire project took 7 hours to complete.

The Trammel and Felucca maps will be scaled down in this post due to the size and to help cut down load times some. Expect to wait anyhow...

You can find full scale versions for Tram and Fel on my web page in about 30 minutes just hit the link in my sig around 7:30 EST tonight.

Update: All maps are now uploaded to my site.

Yeah I do plan to branch off with maps of dungeons and other areas but for today this is what I got. I put in a full day of work just on what is there lol.

But I may do a few smaller things tonight if I have time and get bored.

Nice try.. but just taking the maps directly from UOAM and scaling them down slightly in a non pixel-aspect ratio is in no way "high-res". You even forgot to remove the Minax base from the Tram map.

Nice first try, definitely, but also not quite useful (since UOAM does better on its own already).

Sorry if that's all a bit blunt, but you can't learn from mistakes if people gloss over everything.

Ha what mistakes? Other than the minax base? Seriously can you create something better? If you can go to it and we will all enjoy better maps.

But like I said the reason I created these was because there weren't any good clean maps of the different facets. By the way UOAM wasn't used to do this. I used another tool to pull the maps data.

UOAM is great but I don't feel like loading the program to look at the map real fast I would rather have an image i can pop open look at and close again.

Actually, the maps I provided for the KR "classic radar maps" package are already better, and have all the mistakes fixed that UOAM and InsideUO don't correct for anymore (the Minax base, New Haven, several other places I forget at the moment). If I can't find the links to them i'll reupload em tomorrow.

And i'm seriously, honestly not trying to be rude or condescending, I swear. I know you had to ahve put a lot of work in (you said you didn't use UOAM.. that means you had to have used InsideUO for it.. hell of a lot of scrolling and screencapturing to use that).x.x;

Nah I used something different that I am not at liberty to discuss because I am not sure of the rules around this forum they seem to have a decent grey area for legality on things and so on.

But yes the problem with pulling map data using anything is that is does not correct for any of the changes. None of the existing tools are up to date.

But like i was saying if you can do better I would love to see your work since there seems to be a huge lack of decent maps these days.

Seriously I went to look up a location today and couldn't find what I needed and that is what started this whole map project.

I actually planned to take the maps I have so far and refine them in flash form to add interactivity as well as clean up any mistakes. I didn't have time to fix new haven properly so you can see I improvised a little at the last minute with it lol.

But if I get the flash files created I plan to add both old and new haven to it so that people can see how things used to be and how they are now.

Yeah I will pass. PDF is a horrible format. I never understood the idea of waiting for an hour on even the fastest of machines just to look at a digital picture book...

That's because you are using Acrobat Reader, the most crappy program out there. I always recommend the free Foxit Reader:
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/
Unlike Acrobat, it'll open your PDFs in a second and hardly uses up system ressources.

The advantage of PDFs are: You can easily print a PDF document and the printer output will always look the same. Cross platform. It is way batter than Word documents (that are not even compatible across different versions of MS Word) or trying to print a JPEG or other graphics format.

Ooooo.. those maps are the kind I was looking for... not simply carbon copies of the in game radar. Obviously edited from them, but that change in style is so what's needed.

However you do need to do a version with the Minax base removed and the southern half of New Haven gone, not to mention with darker walls for the hedgemaze. I can provide you with the UOAM fixed maps I have if you want to use them to update these. Combine these with the flash version idea and it would be perfect really.

Also, how about doing similar for the dungeon maps? I've always wanted to see high res maps of them that matched a handrawn style of some sort, kind of like the original UO cloth map. :D

Since the last two versions of Acrobat it has been lightning fast compared to a few years ago. It only took a couple seconds to download and open any of those files within Firefox.

Foxit is great :) Thanks for showing me that. I have seen these maps before. Still not what I was looking for. I wanted the radar style maps like UOAM, InsideUO and other programs produce.

Your maps are really nice for other purposes but when I have the game open I need to be able to match the map up to my radar in game to find where I am.
