Unless Im confused, there seems to a little bit of spawn missing from Deceit level 3 in Felucca.

So I paged a GM, got the usual canned response, about not knowing anything. Man I wish I had their job, you get paid, and can be as dumb as a bucket of hammers.

If anyone feels like taking a quick jump down to Deceit level 3 for me, check if youve got any spawn.

So...Ive been enlightened. As a player you gotta kick start the spawn. Most times Ive been down there its always been packed with mobs. Heh.

You guys need to give Azureal a break. Not everyone does champs, not everyone knows where the altars are.

Had a GM taken the time to set down his coffee cup, click the mouse button for " Go To Player" and taken a look, done even a cursory "investigation" on his own, and had actually ever played the game he is charged with supporting, the "Gamemaster" would have recognized this for what it is.

But, its easier to give that canned message, one click and done...I'm sure it's pre-programmed and selectable from a menu.

Btw ... your the only one actually "saying" stoopid ... Azureal DID catch a break, some slack, bene of the doubt ... Question (re spawn) WAS quickly answered, tested, and worked ... ie. figured out and applied (spawn started)

GMs need not have been involved in "the discussion" ...

Which goes to the "tone and intent" of the original question ... easy enough to figure out, how "better" to have phrased the inquiry ... A simple "where the spawn" (when accompanied by those pictures) ... likely would have received "more polite" answers ... to the SAME effect (need to start the spawn) ... but ...

Not the case at hand ... is it ? No "simple" one part question ... had to ALSO address the "wrapper" that it came in ... ie. the GM aspect.
And, again ... for the hall ...the op got off rather lightly ...

Never seen that any Ilshenar Champion Spawn ever needed a kickstart and never heard of it so either link that you need to kickstart a cham spawn or it is just a rumour.

Correct that Ilsh champs and the Tok champs don't have to be started.

The Fel champs do though, using your valor gump (must be knight of valor to do it) and clicking on the skull on the alter.

Soooo, we have a stuck option for if your char cant move, a fine KB for any of our information needs, and now we know, that if the spawn has disappeared from a dungeon region for some reason (even a reason we dont know) we can find those answers in UHall.

Pray tell, WTF does a GM do then? When something falls thru your floor and you can't retrieve it, even with object handles, they damn sure dont show up in a timely manner to assist. They obviously don't chase down scripters, you can page and page and the same guy keeps right on working day in and day out. If ya have a char that is bugged, and cannot see in a dungeon, nightsight potions, nightsight armor, nightsight cast, no nightsight period, the GM says he cannot do anything about it...

I want THAT job, gotta be easier than what I am doing now!

I will say, whether it was his job or not to answer the question in a simple page, just taking the time to answer the question anyway, would have been a civil, efficient, Customer Servicely (new word there :0) thing to do.

From the UO Stratics info page on the Valor Virtue:

The Virtue of Valor
Valor is the courage to take actions in support of one's convictions. You gain Valor by battling creatures in Champion Spawns.

Virtuous Ability:

The reward for following the path of this Virtue is the ability to initiate or advance the progression of champion spawns. Under normal circumstances, champion spawns cannot be started by players. Their activation is based on a random timer; so, the ability to activate any champion spawn at anytime is quite a perk for those adventurers that seek scrolls of power.

You can activate your Valor Virtue ability by double-clicking the Valor icon on the Virtue window, then targeting the Idol of the Champion which sits on a nearby champion spawn shrine. The champion idols appear as large grey skull statues at the center of an inactive or active champion spawn shrine. Issuing a "Virtuous Challenge" to affect a champion spawn will cost a number of Valor points.

Activating a Shrine:

If you are a Knight of Valor, you will be able to activate a champion spawn shrine. This will cost you a large portion of your Valor points. However, if you are successful, activating such a shrine will summon forth the first wave of the respective champion spawn.

Advancing a Champion Spawn:

If you are a Seeker of Valor, or higher, you will be able to advance a champion spawn shrine--the more advanced the spawn, the greater the required Valor title. The first levels will require no title, while higher levels will require Seeker, Follower, or Knight titles before you can even attempt a Valorous Challenge. Advancing a champion spawn level will cost you a portion of your Valor based on the current level of the champion spawn. The higher the current level, the more Valor it will take to affect the spawn.

A champion spawn will only accept one such Virtuous Challenge per session. Only one person may affect a given champion spawn session, and only once during that session. Once a champion spawn’s level has been increased by a player, no one else can increase its level until the spawn has been completely defeated and has restarted.

Otherwise, a poor dummy like me, would have no idea he needed to click a virtue link. The whole story is, no one was looking for a spawn, the question was asked, where is the dungeon spawn...as I read it.

No. Spawns trigger automatically every once in a while, not just server up. When spawns came out that was the only way they worked, then the current Valor function was added to make it faster to get spawns going.

Misunderstood is more likely at the moment ... "dumb as a bucket of hammers" can also mean .... in terms of the topic re: lack of information.
mute ... unspoken ... didn't say anything usefull ... much like a bag/sack/bucket/drawer full of hammers ... no knowlege obtained via interogation ...

And ... though the " immediacy " of the query ... seems to be disjunct in its presentation and received response ... further analysis shows that the "system" actually worked as designed ...

I guess i have been spoiled all these months. I have done many deceit spawns and i have never seen it look like that. I thought there was some inital spawn or something down there.

This has been my only experience in Deceit (Felucca) as well. Id pop down to level 3, and been confronted with several hundred wraiths, spectres etc etc.

A friend saw my post last night, quickly ICQ'd me, told me where I had gone wrong, and thats when I posted a second time. I went to bed not long after that, considering myself to be quite foolish.

I wasnt/am still not going to delete my post, I wont hide when Ive made a mistake. Take it on the chin and all that.

It was my fault. I was rash, and jumped to a conclusion that something must be wrong.

I do however stand by my comments made about the GM who sent me the canned response. The fact that the response sent me to referred me to Quality Assurance and included an email to file a bug report, and not a Game Guide was and still is somewhat disappointing. Any GM worth their prestigious title might have taken an extra 30 seconds to teleport to me, notice where I was, and slip me a little note detailing what I had to do.

Who knows, maybe Id have been posting screenshots of of my corpse getting violated by 200 lich lords.

Two final points
1. There could have been an actual problem, there, that shard, at that time ... and depending on whether or not you actually bothered TO fill out the report, as requested ... it may still be there ... catch the drift ? As a matter of course, " I generally " check the KB, and provide a link thereto ...

Not this time, time for alllll the other "common knowlege wizards" to display (prove) how readily and easily availible, that particular bit of info ... IS ... (about using valor to start/bump a champion spawn) ... I submit that : IT AIN'T (easy) to actually find out that particular bit of info ... via the KB ... The Games KB, the one listed under support
