Interesting...New Magincia

While messing around with UO Music, i noticed in the Music Folder for UO there is a file called "Newmagincia". I've played Ultima IX: Ascension and there's a New Magincia in it, and the file in the UO folder is the same music as that region in Ultima IX. I've also noticed that alot of music files in the UO folder are from Ultima IX: Ascension.
But couldn't it be possible that Magincia is going to be rebuilt in UO and have this music tagged to it? Maybe it would be something like how there was an alternate Moonglow in the Rift, or how New Haven came into existence. End of theory.

Possible, but I wouldn't say the music is a hint of it. There is a song for Ambrosia in U9, which was in a long time before talk of Gargoyles as a playable race. Not to mention U9 music has been in UO since Third Dawn/LBR days.

Personally I like id destroyed. People had a chance to leave it and maybe rebuild it. But trhye were more interested in decorating their own places.

Well ... with Stygian Abyss is planned to introduced Gargoyles as a players race. There needs to be a place for them. My personal guess is, that the rebuild Magincia might become their new home. (If SA ever gonna get released.And if not ... Magincia probably will be destroyed forever like it is today.)

It'd make sense. Gargoyles had pride associate with them. It'd make sense to give them a city they can be proud of given its history.

It'd also make a nice contrast to how their introduction was in Ultim VI.

I think it is pretty certain it will be released, and I'm pretty sure before the end of this year. Everything that is happening now is leading up to it.

The expansion SA already has been finished. But its not possible to publish it yet. The problem is, that it is heavily based onto the KR-client. Sadly the client is yet not ready for it.

Don't read too much into that song being there.. it's what Magincia has used since they shoehorned the music in with LBR.

I'm not certain, but I seem to remember reading that in SA, there is to be a huge new Dungeon. And you have to go through this Dungeon to get to the Gargoyle City. Again, not certain on this.

I mean, I'll pay some money to upgrade the account itself (I'd guess that there's gonna be some new items they want to limit (like the ML-only gear)), as they seem to want some money for whatever expansion this is so okay. But I sure don't anticipate loading up the KR client for anything, and if 2d can't get in there, will be as though those new expansion areas don't even exist as far as I'm concerned.

There is the hint that there will one day be a New Magincia. D. dropped tantalizing hints at a town meeting or whatever they are called.

No...they are simply not stupid enough to do that. They already messed up the game by making you use a poorly designed 3d client to access a certain part of the game which they later added to 2d. Lets hope they just learn from that mistake and realise that only allowing one client to access an area isn't going to help the game.

I would have to say more than half of the players (generous estimate) are still using 2d for multiple reasons. I don't think they really want to alienate over half of the player base, so I really don't think they are going to make a KR only expansion.

That song has been labeled as NewMagincia since they put it in with LBR because, it is the New Magincia theme from Ultima 9. That's all it is.
It's nothing new.

I believe that was their original plan. To make SA a KR ONLY expansion. No idea what they plan now.

No the music in UO has nothing to do with what is planned. I am sure of this by now.

The U9 music was added to UO quite a while ago to freshen things up a bit nothing more.

Now had there not been U9 music in the folder and this track added in one of the recent patches I might be thinking the same thing you are but since it has been around long before the event with magincia I am fairly certain it has nothing to do with what will happen in the future of magincia.

Hey now that I think of it though. What if the time shift in moonglow were to open up a way to return magincia to the way things were before the event destroyed it? What if like yew things will eventually go back? Well just a thought anyhow...
