I started playing about nine years ago, stopped about 6 years ago, and now I'm back and ready for action.

I wanna just be a lumberjack, but I gotta wonder, do people still buy boards? Having no luck so far at the bank. If so, how much should I charge? Anyone out there looking for a regular lumberjack? Leave your IQ if so.

Lumberjacks... well if you can sing the "Lumberjack Song" from Monty Python... maybe we could use ya at the theater... otherwise... with the whole random resource thing... and nobody really hangs out buying resources at the bank anymore. Just stand at Brit bank and see what wares the peeps are spamming. Personally, I've never seen anyone selling resources... it's all arties, marties, sparties and private parties.

I remember the old days too. Selling ingots at the forge and all. The economy doesn't work like that anymore. Nowadays, these crazy kids use vendors to sell their stuff and you need good house placement to get business. If anyone disagrees with me give a shout.

I'm just'a a scribe so I dunno... I just echo what my homie crafties shout to my eardrums.

You got that jive you crazy cat?

Peas Out!

Welcome back :)

Yes resource gatherers are higly wanted since its such a pain to gather them heh.

if you dont mind the hard work and time you will spend Chopping , you will have loads of fun :)
Also mining brings in some good gold...
I recomend checking one of the local rune librarys (Winterbreeze or Goodmans) at Winterbreeze i have a whole Building dedicated to the crafting proffessions with LOADS of runes hints and help. Winterbreeze Complex is right next to the road that goes from Empath Abbey to yew City and the School of Arts and Crafts is the big 18x18 Building

If you need a lift ...let me know :)

I'm suprised Aalia didn't offer you a vendor spot at her mall there. Hrmph. But if you decide to go that route I have a small vendor "mall" as well. The Insane Mages Tower. I don't really advertise it that much but I would be glad to give ya a free spot there if you wanted to get a feel for vendors, etc. It's in Minoc and near a couple of decent mining areas. I've not done any serious tree chopping lately so I'm not sure what kinda lumber you would get but you're welcome to come by and see for yourself.

From the Minoc stables, work your way north along the peninsula. You move through a low monster spawn area then come into a neighborhood with larger houses and some castles. You should find it around there somewhere.

Safe Travels, Sam

Welcome back Nequa!
You may find with the random resource changes the higher grades of lumber sell much better.
You will find a market though for regular lumber. A vendor is probably your best bet, as your time spent selling at the bank could be better spent in the forests gathering your woods.

Ah hah!

There!
Sam will have to be content with the milder Ginseng tea for now.

Wow, thanks for all the replies!

So uhm, how do vendors work? I will definitely try them out. Also, how do I get higher grades of lumber, is it through higher lumberjack skill?

Another alternative for you Nequa is to turn in your excess boards to either the Britain Library collections or the Vesper museum and spend yoru resulting points on Library / Museum rewards to sell. If you need someone to run you through the quest to become a library collections donator drop me an ICQ at 289-035-138. Oh and btw higher lumberjacking skill will produce the higher grades of logs. ( Yew, ash, Bloodwood etc )

Good luck to you in your travels.

So uhm, how do vendors work?....
Vendors take a percentage of the value of your goods as a daily fee. Some folks also rent vendor spots so that would cost more. You can convert boards into commodity deeds which are easy to carry like bank checks. You take your boards to the bank, buy a deed and then target the resource. Just remember, while your inventory sits on the vendor you are paying the fee.

I recommend you build clients privately then stock your vendors before sales to save gold... that's how I sell my granite rocks. I have one main buyer, I ICQ them before I stock the vendor, then they come by and buy them. That reduces my daily fees and keeps my customer happy.

So... chop wood till your eyes bleed... make the boards into deeds... save em up... and become involved in the community. Make friends, etc... let folks know you have inventory and then place that on your vendors when your customers are ready to buy.

When you are ready, I'll get you a nice rate to rent out the Cherry Blossom Lounge at the Semperoper Theater for the night and you can throw a party for your potential clients. After a few drinks and a couple free Frostwood samples you'll be the chopping trees till Sosaria is a barren wasteland. ;)

Safe Travels, Sam

Welcome back! Well you certainly will see some changes, I hope you enjoy them. You'll have fun roaming about looking for trees to harvest and you'll probably run into some lumberjacks that don't talk much. Just a little hint: there is a hatchet in the game that will boost your skill (if you even need it) and you get more per tree in Felucca. Anyway have a good time.
