cant believe there are no posts about this yet... dupers selling gold for $.65 per mil, barbed runic sewing kits $.75 per kit... they also selling runic hammers, fletching etc. This has been going on for weeks at least probably longer!

I agree! Things have changed alot recently and this could just be a case of the times. You know how difficult it is to sell stuff these days? Sure you might find someone to buy it eventually but for the most part people aren't buying anything these days. Sometimes i price things dirt cheap for a quick sale.

In my opinion there is a dupe or something to that effect going at the moment.
The dropping prices of gold rapidly. This could be just a lack of demand, but I noticed the last time gold dropped this fast, there was a dupe. Then again there are probably trillions sitting around in this game with now where to go. Though if it were in the general publics hands, there would probably be a spike in prices.
VALORITE, Verite and Agapite hammers all over the shards once again. Yes the drop for the deeds have increased, but not to the extent to produce all the hammers that appeared out of no where. I also have noticed and individual on Atlantic has a never ending supply of Powders.
Pacifys and other rares are popping back up once again on mulitple shards for sale. It seems the rares are all specific to their type. Exploited items such as the ice blue spellbooks are all over as well.
This is not solid proof of a dupe, just an observation that these items do not pop out of thin air. They maybe from missed old storage accounts of individuals previously banned. The ingot scriptor with the mulitple burned houses might be back or someone has found another dupe. It just needs a some looking into.

I'm a pretty active person in the rares community and I haven't seen a huge increase in item sales. Especially not similar items. Some big collections came up for sale, but nothing like 10 pacify's, 12 open books, 17 skulls mugs etc. All the rares that have come up for sale are from relatively reliable people.
So a dupe seems a bit unlikely to me at the moment.

No it isn't it's from dupers, scirpters, and chinese gold farmers. Real players hardly loot gold at all anymore because it's such a pain with the BOS changes.

Perhaps the Magincia event has also added to the issue - I know in my case notwithstanding lagg and other issues I was able to score a number of desirable pieces of rubble - As a result of selling them I am financially secure for at least 6 - 12 months (depending insurance cost - have been known to burn through 1 million in a night!!).
The magincia Event was one of those rare occasions where we, the Lower/Poorer class, had an even chance. With a little bit of luck, were able to extract a lot of gold from the Upperclasses and Rare collectors for our rubble and the gold came our way rather than it being the other way round
I suspect this wealth movement our way for a change would have slowed the market. However, I have no doubt that I, along the vast majority of the rest of the Poor will soon enough again be cash strapped and the market will turn

Every time I've seen a huge price drop like this, the cause was some kind of exploit; usually a dupe.
I'm giving up trying to sell gold. Playing just to earn gold to sell rl money and for no other reason is kind of lame, but I could see how some folks that are tired of working at McDonalds for minimum wage could see that as a way out of the fast food kitchen.

Why not add it to Phase 3 of the clean-up? There are many people out there that claim to not have enough to turn in... why not allow gold? Of course you would have to come up with a reasonable scale... maybe... 10 gold or 100 gold a point... *shrugs*... not sure... just a thought!!!

Some possibilities...
1) ok, the nasty one is a possibility.
2) the gold/item seller may be packing up to move to Warhammer or somewhere else, because they're not selling as much as they'd like.
3) same seller maybe just getting rid of stuff before they get banned, trying to sell quickly so they can bank $$ and get out.
4) some old dupers that were missed in previous clean-ups, now selling stock before they're detected.
We can only guess what's going on, I'd suggest reporting URLs or players who seem suspicious, then if EA care they can take action.
I'm honestly not surprised at this though

spend some time around Luna bank and you will see more happening then you are privy to.
A few weeks ago I posted about the numerous times LS had been going down and referred it to the days that crashing a shard was a known method of dupping. I would think this is a direct result of that. Nothing was ever posted that LS going down was a Hardware problem, so I stand by my belief that it was duppers at work.
Whoever is selling, dont buy, if nobody bought their stuff they would go somewhere else.
bear in mind some are multibanned chars that ea just ignore, i suppose for the monthly subscription as they would be amazingly easy to get

Sad part is that it's easy to get 14/45 day free accs.
So it's very cheap to make a bod farming account.
There is an active dupe right now. And it is responsible for most of the things mentioned in OP post.

Well...i give up then, no point in even collecting anything anymore now that theres a new dupe every week, I hope someone reports this to the devs, or they find out soon, because the exploiters never seem to stop ruining the game, and won't be happy until gold and items become worthless, which is happening soon enough.
I have noticed an increase in Legacy Tokens on my home shard. The guy puts up a house, sells for a few days then boom gone. Just an observation !

I was told that cheap legacy tokens were more the product of credit card fraud rather than duping.
The UO economy is, and has been for years, litte more than a mechanism consisting of scripters and dupers churning out gold/items/resources and trickling them out to the public through Luna vendors and cash-sales websites. The "legitimate" economy doesn't even matter anymore, except as a market for the dupers and scripters.
Remember when they made that announcement on how they banned/deleted over a trillion gold, several million ingots, and so forth? Back before they started blowing up Luna houses and stuff? All that stuff they deleted was ONE GUY. And there are plenty of guys like that out there.
There are more artifacts stashed away in the hands of big vendors than it would take to equip every character of every person still playing UO. There are trillions and trillions of gold stashed away and parceled out for sale, normally at a rate that doesn't make the price drop too much. Every single rares-dealer and Luna merchant will tell you he's totally innocent and doesn't know anything about it, but look around you.
And if you don't believe me, tell me, when's the last time they banned a scripter? How many legitimate players would it take to earn the trillion gold and millions of ingots that ONE guy had? Yeah.

It is a combination of duping and people leaving the game. With less people playing the demand goes down. When the supply stays the same the price plummets. Combine that factor with duping and you have a group of people who cant sell thier gold because there is no one to buy it for the price they want.
Back in the day, a "Rares Collector" was once a respectable and prestigous title. Nowadays to most people. it basically equates to "Dupers and their' Fences".

I do disagree with you in that there are acceptable variations to cheating. Illegal scripting is cheating. I'd like to hear of one single rule-breaking activity that could not possibly have an effect on the game's economy (~on the game).

EA is not allowed to give out personal information.
They do not keep the public updated about who gets banned and who doesn't.
Its obvious theres a gold dupe or smoe major scripting going on. For instance, two maybe three people suddenly pop up selling gold on all shards and undercutting everyone else. Like most largish traders, I know all the main traders on my shard and none of these three have been heard off.
I'm damn sure that you dont get gold on all shards without trading or... scripting/duping it. I dont give a rats arse if they can produce 1,000 references either. That just means they sell alot of gold and certainly dont have enough time to gather it legally without either trading (which I'm damn sure they dont) or (which I am sure they do) scripting or duping.
I'm pretty sure those two (or three) know I'm directing this at them as one of them at lest has posted on this thread, I wont name names (I dont want a warning, pure and simple) but I challenge you to prove how you gathered so much gold on all shards considering theres only 24 hours in a day.
