Silent, I hate to break it to you, but it's easy to get barbed kits, ever since they made it to where one can get a new BOD every time you turn in a completed one. Even non-scripters can conceivably get several a day, if they do nothing but BODs (and have a bunch of 0.1 runners getting BODs every hour).
Just turning in 150 BODs 2 nights ago (most of them junk cloth BODs), I got 8 smalls that fit larges for Barbed kits, and 1 large for a Barbed kit. A person that has just one account can do TWICE this amount on 3-5 shards (counting repeating the process with cloth BODs gotten back from the turn-ins, until one runs out of them) in a single day.
Add in BOD trade agreements (I get bods on your shard for you, and you get them for me on my shard), and additional accounts, and the numbers skyrocket. In the first few months of the Lake Austin shard, one legitimate crafter player using just BOD trade agreements and around 10 accounts, get the first Valorite hammer on the shard, and this was almost 5 years before the BOD changes - imagine what he could have done with the current system!
Granted, I do believe that there are scripters out there getting runics - but those are the bowcrafting runic scripters. A number of the extra valorite hammers floating around are relics of the Blackrock turn-in, or dupes made of the ones from the turn-in (and that's not counting the fakes like the valorite-enhanced smith hammers). There are even people GETTING valorite hammers in greater numbers now - I got 2 Valorite Hammer smalls in just the first 1000 BODs with my 120 smith, since this past winter's BOD changes (And the correction of the missing ")" that caused too many colored larges, and almost no iron armor larges).
Of course, part of you problem is you're talking about Atlantic (you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy...)
