Welcome aboard Regine! :)

Awesome to have a vet joining the Dev Team!

Oh.. and as a former rune librarian, you must have missed the ability to have the proper library house sign too! ;)

I have requestet access to the library sign (it's already there - *points at avatar*) since 2002.

I hope you can bring it to the selection gumb in the house sign menu. :p

Throw in an Italian or Chicken Poutine, and you got yourself a deal!

I hope Siege is on the list of shards you had played on.
I did play Siege for a while what seems like centuries ago. And yes, I have recently resumed playing on Siege. :)

Hello and Welcome to our world , Just a question can you make UO better?
All I can do is try, and try I will.

oh my...

While we're at it, what about:

"Why aren't you noobs in map?"
"GET IN VENT!"
"If one of your guildmate runs past you with his toosh on fire, dont ask if he needs a heal, just toss him one!"
"[insert name] has been wearing a death shroud for the past 5 mins. It's not a fashion statement. REZ HIM ALREADY!"
"Stop casting poison fields, It's PARA fields"
"We just kicked a ghost, be ready, we're about to get raided!"
"OMG guys! Those fields in Star are pathetic!"
"Oh wow, I just got brutally spanked by some [insert guild tag]. I wont be able to sit for a month."
"My gold!!"

Awww man, good times! :D

For me, the best fights aren't so much the ones over a champ as much as the open field ones that end up spilling all over the place and 1-2 hours later, nobody really remembers what/who initiated it and it ends miles away from where it began with other guilds jumping in.

So this is where Atlantic's sexiest GM has gone . Gratz , you'll make a great addition to the UO team , and thanks for all the great player events you created Sakk.

Champ spawn guild.?!?!?!?

How did a Fel player ever get past security? :p

Now put on your flame retardant suit, because since you posted, you will be held directly responsible for every error, bug, shortcoming, etc in the game for the next 2 weeks. ;)

Just watch these forums, people will be naming you in their post titles expecting answers.

Have fun on the Dark Side.

Seems to me like you spent to much of your life playing games and not enough time learning how to program. You should fit right in with everyone working on UO :loser:

I stealthed my way in. As for the flames, my mage's suit is all 70s, Corpse proof and I can chug with the best of them. Worse case, I'm sure I'll find a compassionate healer somewhere to take care of the more severe wounds!

I want to believe that I do fit in with the rest of the team. They're awesome. As for my scripting skills, I haven't caused a core meltdown yet (not for lack of trying too!) so I think there's hope yet :lick:

Over my 11 years of playing UO, I got to experiment the game in countless ways: I was a crafter/merchant and professional Treasure Hunter, which led me to start my own UO fansite; founded a champ spawn guild which became one of Atlantic’s main champ guild, was a DJ on UO Radio where I had the pleasure of interviewing many of the great guilds across every server, and had the honor of serving as EM to the wonderful people of Baja.

Well I am glad it resurfaced because I missed it! I was very happy to read the op. Sure it shows your are and experienced UO player in many areas. But more so it shows you have patience and a high tolerance for pain. If your ability to read and write code is a fraction of every other qualification you boast, then we are all in for some good times. Welcome aboard!

p.s. Heh not to defile Draconi's (and team's) hard work by any means. With the Mag invasion forward... I haven't enjoyed the game so much since I started playing it 9 years ago.

Howdy right back atcha! :) Not sure how I missed this thread the first time around, either, but CONGRATULATIONS!

I know exactly how you feel; I was on top of the world when I was hired by Sierra Online, way back in the day. I remember struggling not to add "I LOVE YOUR GAMES" to the end of my resume, heh. :loser: Here's hoping that you still have that happy rush, now that you've been doing the job for a couple of months.

Oh, and I have a photo from the late 1980's of my car sitting in a parking lot in Springfield, VA. There's nearly a foot of snow on it. ;) Don't think you're out of the wintery woods yet!

In your shoes, I don't know that I would have made it through the interview without fainting a few times. I was crazy in love with Sierra games. I used to say that some day I would be the next Roberta Williams, lol. :blushing:

Berta was nice. She had a talent for turning a simple idea into an entire lore. (I worked with her on PoR). Dan.. well there are laws about going to work intoxicated these days, but back then it was just funny. ;)
He reminded me of the Doherty brothers (if you remember Legacy of the Ancients) but they were that crazy sober.

I wanted to work on UO in the beginning, but was tied up until after it was retail. By the time I was available I had developed biasses on a number of systems in the game that simply didn't work the way I would have liked.
In hindsight it would have been a better move than working with Sony. I spent a grand total of 5 months working on EverQuest before I left in frustration.

As time goes on, getting a team that works well together is becoming more and more difficult. So if you all get along, don't let them shuffle you! ;)

Greetings everyone!

I guess it’s my turn to make my introduction post.

A couple weeks ago, I joined the ranks of the UO Live Team as Associate Game Designer. How did I get here? Well here goes…

I was always a game junky. In fact, I started playing video games when I was barely old enough to hold a joystick. And my first game was Pong on a Coleco. From there, I developed a fondness for adventure games such as King Quests and Gabriel Knight, and RTS games like the Settlers and Civilization. At some point, I would buy so many computer games, the local computer store owners knew me by name. Two of them even had me writing game reviews for them.

One day, my brother told me Ultima was going online and that I should check it out. I did, and OMG did I ever get hooked!!

I have been playing UO since Beta, with my main shard being Atlantic, though I have ventured on a number of other shards, including spending an entire year on LA at server birth. I had always wanted to be a Seer and signed up for the Volunteer program. Unfortunately, the program was terminated while I was going through the interview process. So I proceeded to run events as a player. Through this endeavor, I had the pleasure of meeting Soar who was the GM of the now defunct QuestMasters, a guild devoted to running player events. During his one-year UO hiatus, I ran the guild for him and we opened a few chapters of QM on other shards.

I was working on a game for Lucas Art in a Montreal-based game company when I was offered to join the UO team. Relocating to a new country, away from family and friends, and stepping down as leader of my guild was not an easy choice, but working on UO was a life long dream for me. So I made the jump and so far, it has been an amazing experience. Everyone here is very passionate about the game and working hard. And I’m definitely excited to finally be able to make my humble contribution.
