Stratics Connector Alpha Test

We are looking for interested users to assist us in alpha testing Stratics Connector -- a voice chat program being developed in partnership with Vivox.

Right now the program is very bare bones, however the long term plan is to offer completely free ultra-high quality voice chat (including voice chat rooms of unlimited size) as well as voice chat that is seamlessly integrated with Stratics content (for example, a voice chat room for a particular forum or section of a site).

We're especially interested in guilds or large groups that are interested in helping us with testing.

All of that is pretty much in the system right now. In fact we can even support voice House of Commons chats.

There will be sponsored channels (run by us) that will follow the same RoC as the forums. Users will be able to create their own private channels that they will be able to moderate themselves.

Right now the voice chat application is a download. There's a mac and PC client. Most of the features are there... most of the work is ironing out the remaining bugs and improving the user interface.

We're about 40 days away from a web based version of the client that won't require any download at all.

I was there a couple times. Was fun. Though I won't have a headset purchased for a few days yet. So I can listen only, and text reply. Was fun hearing so many actual voices after all these years. More yet to hear, I hope.

As much as I would like to ( talk vs typing ) to other folks that play Ultima Online; your sure opening yourself up to a whole host of problems! If you can keep the Porn bots and Havoc Bots OUT!

Yeah I use Vent and we're all pretty good about not talking over each other, but with the passionate people here on Stratics wow....just make sure that it's all push to talk and not voice activated...that might help ALITTLE lol.

I think I might just listen for the first few times....I don't know lol.

We will have our own sponsored channels in the same kind of working as IRC that will be staffed and monitored to make sure nothing bad is happening.

Saying that, there is nothing wrong with owning your own private channels which will not be actively monitored by staff, with the rules being up to the channel owner with whatever may go on there so the world is your oyster.

The usual cases of harrassment, racism etc will be looked into and dealt with on a case to case basis

I really think this is opening a can of worms. A lot of people cannot help themselves. Either by a slip of tongue, attitudes or so forth. I can imagine the mods will be very very busy.
