Well, think about it this way, if you were them. What are our choices? Call the Feds for federal cybercrime? Good luck, they would put us in bottom priority, "its just a game". Then they would "put in a work order", and "ok, we will look into that (lol)".
Hire a cybersleuth find where the packets are coming from, and identify the juvenile delinquent? The cybersleuth id's the ip's that are sending us these "gifts" and also the kid's identity address etc. Now what? What are the consequences to uo? Pay mint for the hired expert, then what? hire a legal department to go after the kid/hacker? Another super major cost. Would t he kid face the consequences of the federal cybercrime he/she is committing?
I suspect they are trying to mitigate this themselves, with perhaps some outside help and software/hardware that will not break the bank.
It is embarrassing to say the least, to admit that one immature hacker can bring their business to a screeching halt. We can all assume they are themselves fuming mad about this, and trying to fix this. They are also victims of this as all of us.
