I think this is what I’ve read before also.Wasn’t that the god awful Steam equivalent application you had to buy/launch EA games through. Everything goes through the EA app now and EA storefront.
Don’t think this means anything for UO.
They are closing down the Origin app and forcing people to use the EA app. Im guessing they realized it was dumb to have two seperate apps to maintain/update when they could just be all on ONE main app. With a broader appeal and brand regocnition, EA. My assumption, you know what that means, is that theyll probably have the UO digital download links there. IE Sovs and expansions. Again, my assumption. My understanding is that this would only affect people who used the Origin digital storefront exclusively. Some folks might need to find different path for buying Sovs.
Missed this reply. I didnt mean to say the same stuff. =)They pretty much shut it down when they switched to ea play in 2022. If you use EA play app you have until this date to transfer your info over from the origin app.
It's only the app they are removing from use.
I would wish this applied to UO "clients"... *dreams*Im guessing they realized it was dumb to have two seperate apps to maintain/update when they could just be all on ONE main app. With a broader appeal and brand regocnition, EA.
Wouldnt that be cool. The EC is just looks even more outdated than the original client.I would wish this applied to UO "clients"... *dreams*
There was talk from the dev team years ago about going on Steam. Then it just withered into the background never to be heard about again. I suspect alot of it has to due with showing player count.UO should just go onto Steam as the whole world did, even EA with their Gamepass for crying out loud. There is no reason not to do it. Lots of players like deep and complex games. The influx will be astounding.
At least they could probably get by with showing active accounts rather than unique players.I suspect alot of it has to due with showing player count.
Steam never shows non-Steam player count, this is well-known.There was talk from the dev team years ago about going on Steam. Then it just withered into the background never to be heard about again. I suspect alot of it has to due with showing player count.
I'm sure if you search Steam on this forum you will fElder Scrolls Online has tons of people playing outside of Steam. These are not counted towards the in-game player stat Steam shows. So what?
Put it on Steam already. The last years have seen almost any old game that ever did well be put on Steam.
Well then your guess is as good as mine as to why they didn't follow through.Steam never shows non-Steam player count, this is well-known.
