He likely pays a subscription, probably $20 to $50 a month. Is true he has to pay to do these attacks? @Stinky Pete
He gets players and shard owners to pay him to stop. I know of one shard owner who paid him like $300 to go away. What’s his point/motive behind the attacks?
I'm still unsure this is all related... cuz when was the last time the shard went down this much and during a scheduled server migration too? I've seen those trolls claiming it was them in discord but like there's also many trolls in gen chat everyday saying a bunch of none sense. I've only seen bad crashing and reverts during big idocs as of late and I have my theories on that one cuz a certain idocer that seems to find himself on top when it's the case...He gets players and shard owners to pay him to stop. I know of one shard owner who paid him like $300 to go away.
Sneaky said been fighting him a year..So hopefully we will not be subjected to this next week with migration over and hopefully better protection of the services? If not, anyone has an idea how long this type of nonsense can last? Any precedent to this?
Worked for me just now.Anyone else having trouble with the official forums this morning. Page isn’t loading at all after being slow to start.
it was hanging up and not loading for a few minutes and then started working again. Thank you.Worked for me just now.
It's a historical attack? And it is attacks! and we all know I believe in acknowledgement and accountability not please be patient..Why?
What is the outcome you’re hoping to get from doing that? It's a historical attack? And it is attacks! and we all know I believe in acknowledgement and accountability not please be patient..
I think it's the developers responsibility to communicate with the player base? What is the outcome you’re hoping to get from doing that?
They report on it and then what?
I don’t think it’ll change anything that they’re not already doing.
Im not disagreeing, but I don’t see how getting massivelyop to report on this is going to change that.I think it's the developers responsibility to communicate with the player base?
Because it's easy for Mesanna to be herself in the darkIm not disagreeing, but I don’t see how getting massivelyop to report on this is going to change that.
I think most people by now know what is occurring despite the vague response from the devs. (Again I agree this doesn’t absolve them from reporting it). I just don’t see how massively reporting on it will help.
Well, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who still has problemsI was disconnected 4 or 5 times from about 9pm Eastern time to 4am, each with 15 minute or so reverts. Might have happened more but I went back to Pac for a bit when Atl wasn't on the list.
If no one spoke up you would never know it was still happening.Im not disagreeing, but I don’t see how getting massivelyop to report on this is going to change that.

Yeah, only if we had a way of somehow getting Mesanna accountable. It's my humble opinion her personality is the sole reason UO has been going down the drain for the last 7-8 years.Because it's easy for Mesanna to be herself in the dark
They should just pay some professional services costs for a aws security guy to configure it.AWS Shield Advanced overview - AWS WAF, AWS Firewall Manager, and AWS Shield Advanced
AWS Shield Advanced is a managed service that helps you protect your application against external threats, like DDoS attacks, volumetric bots, and vulnerability exploitation attempts. For higher levels of protection against attacks, you can subscribe to AWS Shield Advanced.docs.aws.amazon.com
They have been using AWS for a while now. Even before the migration to the new hardware.
At this point, one of the following must be true:
- They lack the know-how to properly integrate AWS shield advanced to their servers.
- They don't want to pay for AWS shield advanced because it would lower their profit margin.
I can't think of any other explanation.
AWS shield advanced is a proven DDOS solution with proven track record of success. It is able to mitigate OSI layer 3 and layer 4 attacks.
Since both the game servers and AWS shield instances are hosted on the same AWS data center, the additional lag should be reasonable.
All of that being said, right now UO has 4 people:
No wonder a script kiddie is able to take down all of their servers for 2-3 weeks now.
- Mesanna, no higher education, no engineering skills. Previous job experience is answering the phones as a customer service.
- Mesanna's husband, no higher education, no engineering skills. Previous job experience is god knows what.
- Kyronix, no higher education, no engineering skills. Previous job experience is being a GM.
- The other dev, I don't know much about this guy. If I'm not mistaken, he was a fresh hire out of school.
I don't think Garriott alone is good enough. We also need Starr Long.Still ongoing then.

My company provides that service. We actually employ one of the best security guy I have ever seen and I attended black hat in Las Vegas before. So it's very hard to impress me when it comes to network security. Admittedly, we mostly focus on OSI layer 5, 6, and 7 but this type of AWS shield advanced integration or any kind of integration with a DDOS mitigation service is something we can easily do.They should just pay some professional services costs for a aws security guy to configure it.
They probably need to go cap in hand to EA for funds, and I don’t suppose they want to put their heads above the parapet and show them how incompetent they are being taken out by a kid.
So 2 Nepo Babies, one guy who tries, but obviously can't do it all alone and the one guy who actually does the code work? Sadly that sounds like every tech related company these days, especially in the gaming sphere. Not at all discounting you or your companies work, just seems to be the actual state of affairs we find ourselves in all too often these days.AWS Shield Advanced overview - AWS WAF, AWS Firewall Manager, and AWS Shield Advanced

Normally, I would not mind doing it free of charge for a game I enjoy playing.
With that being said, there is a lot of bad blood between me and UO and there is no way in hell I would do it for our narcissist in control even if they decide to pay triple the hourly rate. Also, I did not hear about UO/Broadsword hiring external consultants in the past. I don't think that is something they do often.
Edit: They just closed multiple topics discussing this on the official forums. So, I doubt this is going to be solved anytime soon. In the meantime, come join us at New World MMO. The season 7 is starting tomorrow. It is a blast although the end game is a bit lacking. I'm 400 hours in and I still enjoy it daily.
Go start another thread!Closing multiple topics on the official forums with no updates from them?
They closed multiple on official forumWhy is this closed? I just connected and was surprised.... Atlantic isn't there. I've said it and I do it, every time I realize it I write. Block me on the forum but what is happening is unacceptable and unacceptable.
Let's hope not. If Garriot was a such a great game manager, his post-UO titles would have been more successful. That's not to take away from what he founded with Origin Systems, but I think UO would be closer to the end under his management than under the current leadership.Still ongoing then.

Well again, what do you think would change not being in the dark?Because it's easy for Mesanna to be herself in the dark
Nothing, we all know what is going on. Some like to complain about anything they can. How does complaining help then solve the issue?Well again, what do you think would change not being in the dark?
Do I need to copy and paste what needs to be said and done?Nothing, we all know what is going on. Some like to complain about anything they can. How does complaining help then solve the issue?
