Onslaught?

What exactly does onslaught do in the swords mastery using double axe? Does it give multiple strikes to opponent in pvm/pvp at opponents least resist? And does it work with double strike? Is it useful with elemental weapons geared for the opponents lower resist anyway? Does it increase damage output if you are at 300% damage anyway? (So far I have used Bushido mastery and it seems to be working ok).
Ty in advance.

Its a like weapon special so you can't use it with another special. They say it's great, but I don't see any extra damage numbers when I use it.

Onslaught is fantastic, especially if you match your double axe’s elemental damage to the target’s lowest resist. This is critical — it lowers the target’s resist based on the weapon’s elemental damage. For instance, take a fire elemental double axe to Navrey with onslaught and you will do incredible damage with double strike. It works for about 3 - 4 double strikes.

I just tried it in game. You have to turn onslaught on first then do the weapon special. I tried it on a Para Lich lord in invasion. Tried it on a Balron. It says I do an onslaught of damage but they are just 1 damage number that's the same as a normal hit. Everyone says its great. I don't see the numbers as being great. Seems its like those players who say their pet does 400 damage AIs. I am using a slayer weapon with elemental damage. Fire on Lich Lords Energy on Balrons. Community hunt happens to be Navrey right now, Ill try it there.

I guess I just don't know how to use it. Damage was the same as without it. Used a 100 fire double axe.

How do you use it? First turn on Onslaught, then DS?

Not sure why you're having issues, @Pawain. I just tested with my Sampire, a build of 120 Swords / 120 Tactics / 120 Bushido / 120 Chiv / 100 Parry / 100 Anatomy / 100 Necro. The difference was significant. Without Onslaught, I was averaging 180 - 220 damage for each successful Double Strike. With Onslaught, the damage was closer to 300 per Double Strike.

Ya I have heard players say its great for years. It just does not do more damage for me. I see the messages but no higher damage. The bad thing about the new CUO client is that you cant put masteries into a macro. So I was doing it manually by pressing the Onslaught Icon. Thanks for the numbers @ultima2005 I have been wanting to ask about it for years but everyone else seems to get higher damage from it.

Still another month to go in the event, Ill keep trying it on Para Lich Lords and stuff.

I went back to Navrey. It reduces the resist of your ele damage weapon. Between the webbing and having to single click it and use a macro for DS, I could see some damage increase. I didn't have a Spider weapon like you did so My damage would be 40s and increase to 60s. Hopefully they make CUO client be able to put masteries on a Macro. I got a 3 necro pink off her.

Thanks!

I think I see what you mean, you first hit you key for onslaught, then hit the key for DS 3 times? Or you have all these actions on a single EC macro?
I use EC, and use honor always, then nearest hostile target, then ds. Somewhere in these I lose the onslaught, and get a regular DS hit. Any ideas? I guess have to try moving the actions around, so the Onslaught icon does not go "neutral when DS is activated.

Onslaught works for 6 seconds so you can get 4 double strikes in. So you would onslaught, DS x4, then onslaught again. This also assumes you are swinging at max swing speed of 1.25 seconds.

I use it a lot when I am soloing hard hitting big bosses like champs spawns, peerless, big paragons, etc because it boots the amount of life you leech back. For lowish hp baddies you are better off DS or WW just depending.

Should also mention that you can also sneak in evasions as well but you need to be fast on the macros to not mess up the timing. If an evade hits while onslaught is active it benefits from the damage boost as well. So you would onslaught and as soon as it hits you hit evasion immediately followed by DS. Anytime evasion triggers just hit evasion again after your DS goes off and hit DS again. You have about 1 second to do this between each swing. It may take a few times to get in the grove but once you do it’s an even bigger damage boost.

Nice!. I was doing it wrong and put everything on a one key macro, including Onslaught and DS. Thanks for the info on timing since it is critical. Will keep experimenting till get it right.

I decided to do some more tests. It works with whatever damage weapon you use. Here is this Navrey normal and with reduced resists, depending on weapon. Consecrate has no effect on which resist, its the weapon. I tried the 3 weapon damages I had on me. (Not sure what would happen if you have a mixed damage weapon)

I just clicked the Onslaught Icon and didn't do many specials. Many times I get the prep message (You ready an Onslaught) and no result message (You deliver an Onslaught), So I assume it missed the hit and you have to activate it again. The only time the resist would change was when I got the result message.

It works with any damage type, but its best to use the lowest resist of the Mob of course. But, even if you have the "wrong" weapon, it reduces that resist.

This is an ability that benefits all players hitting the target, if they are using the same damage as you are.
I don't know if it would stack if multiple swordsmen used Onslaught with the same weapon damage. (my guess is it would for the time) I'm sure it would stack with Discord or Rune Corruption or another pet special that reduces a resist.

If you Discord the target, Onslaught will reduce the resist more and add even more damage.

It is a set number reduction. It reduces the resist by 16. With 120 Swords and 115 Tactics.

Correct. At 120 real swords and tactics, it lowers the specific resist by 20.

onslaught also works together with whirlwind attack special from axes and whips. Best for doing spawns like the current event spawn or severral champion spawns.
