12/5/2025 Greetings, As we continue to monitor feedback related to the Shattered Sanctum event we are pleased to announce the following changes will be released to Origin, Izumo, and Baja during their next regularly scheduled maintenance, Investigations into the unknown origins of the Undead Invasion across Britannia have discovered the Solen Tunnels have been used by the armies of the Undead to gain access to Britannia’s cities. As a returning player, I like to see activity from the dev team. Seems Broadsword has been very active the last few months.

I suppose that means the trolls will have to find something else to complain about, blame the devs for and generally air the more ridiculous conspiracy theories.

We will see how the addition of the tunnels impact things. In my opinion, it will depend on how it's implemented because if they don't adjust how the spawn appears or how much (specifically ATL) then adding the tunnels won't really have the intended impact. I've played on Origin a couple hours doing the invasion and even there, the spawn in a town like Moonglow seemed a little on the light side to me so it will be interesting to see how the tunnels are implemented there (will it only be a few monsters walking around?).

I'm glad the Devs listened to some of the chest feedback but again for ATL specifically the poison was just one part (and not really even a big part); the other bigger part is the fact that once a thief detects/picks the lock then anyone can loot. Another issue there is just how crappy the loot/spawn rate is in 98% of the chests.

All that said, I am glad that they are at least trying to do the right thing and improve the gaming experience. Now if they would only tell us how much longer the colored mares will be spawning! :gee:

I think if I understood correctly the towns are based on how many people are in the town. And I've been on Origin playing sometimes it's busy sometimes not so much.
I just went in the tunnels. The spawn was heavier when I entered...didn't stay long enough to see respawn time and amount of mobs. I lost connection a couple of times so decided to wait till later in the day.

Oh they will complain!! They will not like how far the travel will be to find a healer if you die. Granted I didn't stay down there long enough to see if they have put healers in a couple of areas. From the little I saw it appears all the regular spawn is still active there also. Which is great can do some of the quests as the same time....maybe? I popped in right after server up....so hopefully this afternoon things will have settled in on the server and won't be losing connection.

I posted something about this on the main UO forums, but like most events, the primary focus is almost always on specific classes. Almost everything seems to cater to sampires, which makes sense since they are the most easily scripted class - which is likely their biggest group of customers.


I am happy to see these changes though, and I'm really hoping the inclusion of the solen hives will make being in the cities actually playable. Then I could just completely ignore trying to find chests and maximize time on my sampire like all the bots get to

I just popped into Origin and the tunnels look to have a good amount of spawn right now BUT there isn't anyone else in there so my opinion on the spawn amount might change based on how quickly it respawns.

There is a necromage that will spawn in there as well. I killed him (solo) and maintain that killing the necromage is a waste of time. Took me a solid 8-10min and I only got 2 drops.
