I've decided to start a thread to showcase some of the Greatest Rare Museums in UO's history, i'll be updating this thread with such content. Being a rares collector and merchant for years i've helped many buy, sell including low count/seer/uniques even entire collections! Same if you would like to hire a home decorator to display your rares and not sure where to start, I have trusted contacts as i've hired a few myself throughout the years. Please contact me via Stratics PM or discord archnightuo if you'd like to discuss as I would like to keep this thread as clean as possible with just the museums being displayed.

I'll start things off with my Luna Shop "Tiesto's Luna Tent Outpost", it's located SE corner inside Luna on Atlantic. You'll find a wide variety of rares being displayed and auction safes to the right with many valuables for sale.

This is the Grand Britannian Repertory located outside of Zento on Atlantic:
Designed and decorated by Halister Marner of Atlantic.

The Repertory houses both a rares museum and a collection of over 1000 player written books from past Atlantic role players.

First floor, a collection of (mostly) Atlantic EM and seer items:

The Wintermoor Museums, these were located on the southernmost tip of Dagger Island on Atlantic up until 2007. Xanthar was the owner and considered by most as the first big rare collector in UO.

Few of us may remember but once upon a time, circa 1997-2001, there existed the player town of Rivendell located inside the Britain guard zone, just west of Britain, Felucca. Zym Dragon owned a large house with patio there, placed inside a farmer's field, that was a museum of his worldly possesions AND a working blacksmith shop. For a pretty chunk of gold you could buy yourself a nice verite plate helm marked "Zym Dragon", for example.

Sadly the house has fallen but it contained only true rares, items no longer made or obtained from long ago, and a few that were never meant to be owned by players from the day the shard opened. Real old-school rares, not the latest event type which are cool but certainly not old.

For a trip down memory lane travel to the area in Fel, it's inside the guard zone NW of the brit moongate, and find a tavern called the Hungry Halfling Tavern. You'll be welcomed with a pleasant experience, old school decor and, if you're lucky, the tavern-master will be online and serve you a pint. He'll have stories from 98-2001 to share with you as you reminisce of what the game once was.

t'is a good place to visit, at least once. Zym Dragon helped forge what this game became, the right stuff.

T'is also with great regret that Zym Dragon passed away some years ago. His is one of the "museums" and histories one should seek to glorify. Our game has had many who were not only awesome but also helped others enjoy the game just a little more. Goodman's run library comes to mind as another good example you might want to improve this 'list' with.

The measure of a museum is how much it inspires and helps others.

Zym Dragon's "The Hungry Halfling", was a tavern located in the player town of Rivendell on Atlantic and went IDOC in 2019.

@Blackie The Hungry Halfling has been rebuilt in honor of Zym Dragon. I tried to capture the spirit of the original. Unfortunately, Zym's houses up in the fields collapsed after he passed away. There is a seat reserved for Zym, a memorial nearby, and a suit of his armor and a smith's hammer on a mannequin inside. It is in the same location.

Edited to add the memorial:

Additionally, the Serpent Cross Tavern still stands in its original form, IGM blessings and all:

I thought there was already a thread dedicated to this that dates back to 2010? Looks like a lot of the same museums and pictures as well. Why not just add to this thread instead?

Just curious on why re-build the wheel?

It should be noted that I did add this at the beginning of this thread "Please contact me via Stratics PM, ICQ 691820408 or Discord Archnight#9037 if you'd like to discuss as I would like to keep this thread as clean as possible with just the museums being displayed".

Now as per that thread unfortunately it's dated and stuck in the rare forums archives, this thread will also be more up to date and include more rare museums once completed. So again I kindly ask to please msg me first regarding your questions, I also have no plans going forward to post Taverns/Libraries/Historical buildings unless there main focus includes rares... anyone is free to start such a thread if they chose to do so. Thanks

Pampa DH's Museum "LS Rares", located on Lake Superior inside Luna. It focuses mainly on rares from LS and is the only completed shard museum in UO! There's also some rubble and seer rares included :)

Laina and Hermes Museums "Smithsonian - East Wing", located on Baja near Umbra east exit. These two big houses give the illusion of being one and include a wide variety of rares in a beautiful display, including a Dragon's Cave!

I miss pictures of the fantastic "german" museums on Drachenfels. Menetekel owns one of them and Tanage too. Loads of uniques and very, very old rares from the early Drachenfels days. Both are still owned by themselves and nothing has been sold.
Hi!
Where are they located?
Cheers

Shumer's Museum, was located SE corner inside Luna on Izumo. It went idoc early this year and while it was saved minutes before dropping the house was put in storage, there was a wide variety of rares being displayed including many server births!

Great thread. I loved talking with Xanthar Of The Museum back in the day when there was only Fel. I was new to the game and he would show me around his places. Good dude. Owned Wintermoore on Atl. Thanks.

she lost some Billion when GM removed the extra floor and she removed all other rare and closed museum

View attachment 157909

Thanks @panoramix2009, I edited the post above and knew of this "basement" but lost the pictures when ICQ went out of service... it's a shame as she truly had a lovely museum with lots of rares.

As we're on the subject I would like to bring up another rare house that had "basements" as i'm sure there's others with one and please note that they're highly illegal to have if caught, GMs will delete as they've done with Peil's if reported. This was a house on the Izumo shard, near Fel Yew right above the public stables.

You can always find the "basement" houses with the item tags feature, it will show locked down items way outside the normal housing perimeters. I know of a dozen, but I don't want to cause anyone to lose their items, so they shall remain secret. ;)
