I could be wrong but I believe they put that in place a few years ago, maybe around the time when they started their own forums again, but it has not worked. Not sure if they will ever get to it but it may be worth asking about in one of the town hall meetings with Mesanna.

Not sure I am buying that. Blizard has the WoW Armory and I am sure other games have websites for something similar.

me either, it isn’t a new function. Character search was around for years before then, displaying the character, guild, top three skills etc.

had they displayed personal information, it’d be different.

That’s interesting. Opt out button must be pretty tricky if it’s been 6 years…

Lol, I've always hated that spaghetti code excuse. It just smacks of, "Oh, the economy is bad because of the last guy; it's not my fault." That may be true to some degree, but you're still the current custodian of it; the previous guy doesn't give you an excuse to cop out on your responsibilities.

Must also be the reason that everyone still has to use FireFox to stay logged in (consistently) on the official forums for almost 1.5 years while every other site I've been to in that same time span has had zero issues. Damn spaghetti.... they should have coded in penne.
