They didn't say "open beta" so I would assume 'x' players from the respondents or a "closed" beta. Possibly NDA with that. <shrug> This is from testing programs for years - from alpha to production.

Doubtful. It seems skill gain is done through questing. Why would you need to do a quest to get a PS to do a quest to gain skill? Then again... it is Broadsword.

My takeaway was that taming would be available but not until later in the ”story.” It will be interesting to see what that looks like - I cant say that I’m jazzed about the way they’re implying it will be but it’s way to vague to draw any meaningful conclusions yet.

I don't disagree, but I have tested some games where NDA was in force up to open beta. And here we are talking of EA/BS - the folks who put "fun" in dysfunctional;.
For a game that has been declared dead for many years, there sure is a lot of money to be made.

Yep, generally, if a game doesn't want you talking about the beta, it's because it's afraid of bad press ahead of release. They're afraid of bad press because they haven't done an excellent job communicating expectations.
If they're not going to wipe characters at the end of the season, it is reasonable to think that gold wouldn't be wiped either since that's stored as part of the character info now.
The playstle for many on a seasonal shard is quick play marathons. Players will advance using any method. Especially if they have leader boards. UO has many ways to play. Competeing on the leader boards will be fun for many.
The only thing that UO said was the character itself Skills/stats would remain. That says everything else is wiped. You will be naked and broke.
Yes that's what I read too, the problem there is you will still have a huge headstart on other players who are starting from scratch as all your skills will already be maxed, this is not the original intention of a level playing field. It makes zero sense to do this and it's actually very unfair. As usual they are trying to please everyone but end up not doing so.
Did they specifically say they were naked and broke? No snark on that; I'm genuinely asking here because I don't recall the exact quote. If it is true, then people will still be upset because they will want to save everything about their character.
IMHO this will only effect PVP so if you are doing this for the sake of PVP then leave your char, if not then do as you please. My major question is how many chars are we going to be allowed per account. As others have said I am going to use this to make chars for unused shards.
They said your char could remain. They did not say your char and equipment or your char and money or your char and whatever will remain.
So in other words they've told us nothing and are just making it up as they go along?
