PSA: Acid Slug Pit Training Advice

So, i keep seeing people train characters and pets at the Acid Slug Pits, when there are far better methods of training those specific skills. Those people end up slowing down the gains of those for whom the Acid Slug Pit is actually best for.
Gregorio the Brigand (near the Skara Brae Ranger Huts and farms) is superior for training a pet's Magery, Necromancy, Chivalry, Bushido, Ninjitsu, Mysticism, or Spellweaving skills. Gregorio is immune to virtually all damage (with a few specific exceptions) unless you're on a specific quest, so you or your pet can cast on him indefinitely without having to switch targets. You can even have Gregorio disarmed, and have him aggroed onto you (he won't deal any damage unarmed), then tell your pet to Kill then quickly Stay from several tiles away, which will have the pet rapidly spam any spells it has, increasing the rate of skill gain (this will also prevent your pet from using any melee specials like Bleed or AI, and allow it to focus 100% of it's mana on spellcasting, including Chiv).

The only time the Acid Slug Pit is better for Magery, Necromancy, Chivalry, Bushido, Ninjitsu, Mysticism, or Spellweaving skills for a player, is if you're in Wraith Form and able to leech Mana from the Slugs then. Otherwise, Gregorio is better for it.
The Acid Slug Pit however is absolutely superior for pets to gain Discordance skill. It's a never-ending supply of rapidly respawning targets for them to discord. So please, leave the Acid Slug Pit for the Discord pets, they already gain slow enough as is.

For discord gains you can use dinosaurs in Eodon, pass bridge of Urali village, then drag several dinosaurs there and jump over the river by teleporting yourself, If your pet is non mountable -relogin fast. Can also have good gains in pet's Healing therethere (need Dimetrosaur for that)

Another way to train Discordance on a pet is to stay on small island in Shame and let pet attack Diseased Blood Elementals roaming there. You can open boxes on that island while pet is in training.

But slyg pit is nice place anyway. I collect quest items for alchemy potion there, train throwers, mages, spell weavers, necromants and even warriors.
P. S. if you think there are too many afk folks there - just drag bloodworm to the pit. it will eliminate unattended characters and their pets in no time.

P. P. S. all this pet training options are boring. Wanna fun? Do mini champs in Stygian Abyss. Gains are good and you can get tinker legs or berserker breastplate + essences

The slugs can take to high wrestling. But the Tactics stops around 70s. So you have to do that elsewhere.

I think players use them because you can be afk and won't time out like you can at gregarious.

Throwers and Archers use them.

Problem is, once a pet successfully lands a Discord attempt on a target, it can't continue to use Discord on it as long as the Disco effect persists. You'd have to offscreen or invis your pet for 10+ secs for the Disco to wear off, before it can discord the mobs again. This is why having mobs that instantly respawn in the same small area (Acid Slug Pit) is so damn useful for training a pet's Discord. The Acid Slug Pit is a LOT better for Discord gains on a pet than the Dino or Shame Islands.

Kind of confused 1. You say ppl and pets then go on about pets this and that,... so this pet issue?... 2. You say to leave slimes to discord pets at end which I don't see how any of skills mentioned really effect you doing your discord... 3. How is it slowing down my gains when all five people in the pit are me? ;) Not arguing better place to train just don't see how and who is getting you all bent about this. Am I missing something? Like how are they actually lowering your gains? Tact cap is 75 on dexer in da pit fyi Paw bruh

Seen some people basically hogging the Acid Slugs in the Pit by spamming AoE spells like Wildfire that instantly aggro onto them all the Slugs the moment they spawn, when they're not even in Wraith Form. They could literally get the same gains casting anywhere else. Yet because they instantly aggro all the Slugs onto them, the Slugs won't aggro onto a pet, and so the pet won't auto-defend and use it's Discord skill. If there's too many pets in the Pit as well, it's difficult to get the Slugs to aggro onto your pet so it auto-defends. End result, is the pet gains Discord skill much slower, if at all.
Just pointing out that there are better places for certain skills to be trained, so it thins out the amount of people/pets at the Acid Slug Pit, so those of us training Discord on a pet can do so effectively. Showed a guy earlier how to train the Chiv on his Blaze Cu faster at Gregorio.

This here is an example of a pet at the Acid Slug Pit that would get faster Chiv gains within 2-3 tiles of Gregorio using the All Kill+All Stay commands. It wouldn't be using MS/AI at all then, just Chiv Spells and Dragon Breath. At Gregorio you could even use discord skill on the Chiv pet to increase what Chiv spells it could gain off of, which would be very risky on a pet at the Acid Slug Pit.

I've been to the slug pit when I was working disco on my pet (few years ago); it does work well. I've also had people using like a Chiv pet while I've been trying to use discord. Holy light will aggro a bunch of slimes and essentially makes the training consist of "all kill" a million times. Def see where you are coming from given that the pet could easily use gregario to train chiv / combat.

My solution to this was to add SW to my tamer and then say "all guard me" and cast wildfire on the pit. Most slimes auto aggro on me due to fire which my pet would attack.

There is no problem with discord. Pet is using both discord target and mastery. Mastery give gains too. Try it. It is also effective especially if you discord your own pet.
