If you plan on buying them, then the Gypsy Camps that can spawn in Ilshenar are the best place to buy them (the Vagabonds sell them). Their prices are reset every time those respawn.

Miners can also mine up gems like that once they consume the book "Mining for Quality Gems". Takes a long time to acquire a decent amount though, so usually only scripters obtain a large amount of gems this way.

Dragons (8 gems) and Greater Dragons (16 gems) also always carry gems on their corpse. You could just hunt them and acquire gems over time as you farm Leather/Scales and gold. Each GD drops around 1,750 Gold, which is enough to buy 24 Citrines from the Gypsy Vagabonds at the base price of 71 Gold per Citrine.

If you are looking for citrine (common), you can find NPC vendors that sell them in most towns, including Luna. If you are looking for Ecru citrine, let me know I have a ton of them. Can sell some to you for a good price

They have the best price for citrine, resets to around 50 gold per every morning, that and amber

years ago when I decided to make an imbuer on every shard I milked the Ilsh venders.
really is the only way to go, they pop in and out all day resetting themselves every time.
also work good for arrows and bolts too.

So the trip was interesting; Kalkin was pursued by paragon skeletons, 2 imps, an efreet, a paragon bandit and speckled scorpions.

You'll be surprised to learn it's actually 5 ea per day, and caps at 50 . I have one but I hardly ever keep check of it ...

you can get lots of the small jewels quickly from them.

Guess I've always been a UO hoarder... Way back before imbuing I used to gather every gem ever and just stick them in a chest... all the years of killing mobs, dragons, elementals, etc... had a huge fat stack of gems when imbuing hit... up at 50 or 60k... or more ... and yeah the gem cart... and all that. I've never bought gems. Ever.

you can get lots of the small jewels quickly from them.

This is how I've collected many of mine.... although at this point clicking and dragging the 8-10 stacks of tiny pixels isn't worth the patience so they are trashed lol. Wish I had it like that in real life where I have no problem throwing a bag of jewels that includes diamonds/sapphires/rubies/emeralds/etc into the trash can

I used to do the same. I had a cache of gems ready to sell for when i'd start to run low on gold. Like my own little treasure hoard.

Most Elementals... I know there are other mobs that drop them but Dragons usually have the most which is where I got a vast majority of the gems I have. They are lighter than gold so they were easy loot for me. I want to say the captains in Blackthorns drop them too...
