You mean we could easily have a search function for the jewelry box and it's just stubbornness that keeps it from happening...
"I've been playing UO for almost 20 years without a search function for the jewlry box just fine. Let me tell you my simple 20 step process to work around it. First, you buy 20 bags from the provisioner. ..."

That being said, perhaps you should just change the way you think about the situation. Rather than, "I just lost stuff," try to think "It's going to be so much fun getting all that stuff again!." If you don't play for the enjoyment of playing and rather "to have stuff," perhaps you should sit back and think about your relationship with the video game as a whole.
And that's why you regularly delete your accounts and start over completely, to show us it's all "just pixels."

Keep in mind... if you reverse the charges with the bank, your Mythic account will very likely receive a ban from EA. At that point, recovering your accounts after the fact would be an extremely arduous process through EA billing to get unbanned. This goes above Mesanna and anything Broadsword will be able to help you with.
^^
^^ This is 100% what will happen, beware, as soon as you open a claim with your bank, EA will Ban your accounts (UO included) and you will loose everything.
I recall that this was official policy stated on the website, once upon a time. I don't think it is any longer, but it falls under the reservation of their right (their excuse) to terminate any account for any reason. It's understandable in a way, so that someone can't reverse charges even just once in a while, and they wouldn't catch someone playing such a game.

UO under any leadership has always had bad customer service, and they live up to the Ferengi's First Rule of Acquisiton. Compare them to, oh, LinkedIn. After I canceled my premium membership, it was definitely canceled, but somehow they kept billing my credit card for a few months. I didn't even notice until my bank manager and I were going over my statement about something else. He's the one who contacted LinkedIn, and I got a refund with no problem.

So just to be clear.....The original poster lost a beetle, not lost $500, correct? At first I thought he meant he somehow lost $500 in goods that were on the beetle or something.

? So.....Personal attacks based on something else are ok? Huh? Is that what I've been missing all this time?
It’s a way of subtly telling people specifically why posts were removed, instead of the generic “trolling bad” message, which is just pointless usually since everyone already knows the rules. I also try to use words directly from the report so the person who reported something knows we saw what they wrote and that their reports don’t just go into a black hole. Other personal attacks are prohibited too.

Yes, she just lost a beetle and some low value artifacts it was carrying, not $500.

I guess I'm confused. If the issue is personal attacks, and that's what's not allowed, then why not say "personal attacks?" Or are you saying that looking through someone's post history and then composing a new post based on someone else's post history to point out contradictions or reasons to doubt someone's credibility on certain issues is, itself, always a personal attack? If so I guess I'm in trouble because I've done that plenty of times, including to you. *shrugs*

Before I was a moderator I thought it was kind of pointless when a moderator would post “stop the personal attacks” or “knock it off with the trolling” with no further explanation of what happened, so I try to be more specific than that.

I assume everyone already understands that general personal attacks are always not allowed, so I mention the exact category of personal attack that occurred so people can avoid using that topic in future posts. I guess I can add a “stop all personal attacks, including: (category)” before those messages if it makes it more clear. Thank you for the feedback.

Bringing up someone’s posting history to contradict them is fine, it’s just against the rules to antagonize them out of nowhere on a personal level to get them to fight back, like posting “wow more garbage from (name) stop posting this trash you stupid loser” in their thread.

The way a moderator breaks that down is “you stupid loser” upgrades it to a personal attack because it’s insulting the person’s real world value/intelligence. Without that part, it would only have been trolling which is a lesser infraction, as it only attacked their post content and not them. The aggressiveness or snideness is what changes it from acceptable to trolling. The non-trolling way to say it would be something like “You’ve made 3 threads this week about the same thing, just stop already, it’s getting annoying.”

It can also be considered trolling if the person posting the comment has a long history of purposely trying to rile up the target to make them get themselves in trouble, despite only using barely within the rules pokes and prods, although that’s mostly just up to the moderator’s judgement on intent and discussion about it with other moderators. There’s an appeal process as well in case the moderator judged a comment too harshly.

@Captn Norrington - weren't you just posting that you hadn't needed to clean up a thread or give warnings out "in quite some time" literally last week? I guess you spoke too soon lol.
He did. He asked for content, I give him content. He says he doesn't need to do much moderation, I spit out some personal attacks for him to moderate.

I applied for a staff position at Stratics a while back, though their reasoning of why I was denied was understandable and respectable, I now like to think it is because I'm too good at what I do here and if they made me staff, it would take too long to train someone else to fill my current position.

Yes, it was pretty funny, within hours of me posting that the drama and reports started flowing in (all real ones too, not even people nitpicking). I think we’ve handled something like 10 reports in the last few days which resulted in 3 warnings, 2 thread cleanups, and 2 ban evasion investigations. It’s been nice to have something to do again.

I was in the CC. I use the the beetle to empty my backpack between stealing runs, at 10 stone a piece dang dungeon stealables get heavy.

Wasn't anything major it's the principle of the matter.

I spent $500 on game time codes so I don't have to worry about the accounts while sis and I deal with our father's passing and all the stuff that goes along with it.

Only to log in and be reminded that "Peace of mind" with our UO account is an illusion. It also chaps my hide that there is zero accountability with Broadsword/EA/Mythic/Origin.

Stuff like this should not be happening. If I had not been sitting on the beetle then I'd have taken the "black eye" and gone on. However my char was firmly astride the beetle then

POOF he's standing there with his face hanging out.
A little taste of some incoming EA accountability for ya.... Or maybe just a pregame snack.
(on a side note - Mesanna should probably quit renaming characters on Test Center 1 "Sue")

All of this reminds me of why we quit UO in 2009. High Seas had just been announced—which made my husband & I furious. There were so many issues with the game & instead of fixing them, the Devs chose to focus on yet another new supplement. We walked away.

How dare they put more content. Such a stupid idea. Every day 99% play without any affect from these bugs. We would rather have content.

So you think it is acceptable to continually keep adding new content to the game without lifting a finger to fix major problems with the previous new content? Take a good look at your backpack. Did you know that bank boxes used to look like that? Changes that would have made the game more playable, and that players were begging for were neglected in favor of—you guessed it—new content! Did you know that we paid for new content (I forget which) but couldn‘t access it for 4-6 weeks because our characters weren‘t powerful enough to fight our way through the dungeon that you had to go through to reach the new content we paid for? A little something the devs forgot to mention when they described the new release. Or that prior to 2009. There was one profession that shall rename nameless that was so powerful that you had to run that profession to do certain dungeons. That is not my concept of balanced game design. So suppose you lost valuable, irreplaceable items to glitches in the new content. Now there are glitches in 112, and there may well be more that come to light. This is normal. Suppose none of these glitches were fixed because the devs were working on yet more content?

I play every day, unlike you. I experience nothing other than Vendor search ,which they are reorganizing, to be coming between me and many others having fun every day.

When you say "many others" what percentage of the (I'll be generous here) 20 players that LS has remaining are you talking about?

They are having fun on all shards. LS is not the only place people are having fun.

We had 18 players last night in 2 parties so you are really going to say the whole population of LS was on and in the same area? Is that the hill you want to die on?

Community hunt starts in 5 minutes all welcome.

One day you will find something you actually know about to post here.

Forgive me for not bringing the other dying shards in to the equation.

What's the percentage of people having fun VS people not having fun?

It works as good as it did last week. I just bought some acid ropes for Parox later. Yup still having fun in the game. Not just a forum warrior that keeps whiffing.

OK maybe I don't understand this from pub 111 but it says:
  • Bonded pets (Non-pack animal) can no longer go wild and will no longer respond to commands from their owner until the pet owner feeds the pet
  • Dead bonded pets no longer decay until after 24 hours of in-game time have passed
I understood that "non-pack animal" to mean that pack animals do still go wild and disappear if you log off with items in them? They put the bold on non-pack animals.

Also, from pub 111 TC changes:
  • Pack animals and hirelings will now only stay in the offline auto stable for 24 hours after which they will be removed from the world if not retrieved. The auto stable is an offline facility where pets can be stored till their owner logs back in – it is not your stable. The offline auto stables are not a part of the transfer process unless a player unloads their pack animals in the world.
Pack animals that are mounted are stored on your character and can not be lost.
So unless the pack animal is mounted it will disappear in 24 hours regardless.

What she was saying was it disappeared when she was on it.
