Fatal crash on toons that had active Yukio Quest?

Hey folks,

I posted this on the official forum but for those that don't go there I was hoping you could post here if the same is happening to you. Below is what I put on the official forum:

Here's the bug report I posted in Bugs just now for reference:

@Kyronix

On one of my accounts I had 2 characters that still had the Yukio quest. I tried to log into them today and the client crashed as soon as the world appears in the client.Yesterday morning before the daily server update I was using one of these toons in Fire dungeon. This morning I logged to do so again and got the crash. Checked other toon that had Yukio quest and the same thing happened. Please help!

Shards affected: Lake Austin and Siege Perilous
Character names: Gorgiamus (on LA) and Calavera (on Siege Perilous)
Location in game: Both inside a co-owned house.
Client affected: Classic Client (Enhanced works)

I tested several other characters across 4 accounts and only the ones that had Yukio quest seem to be affected.

To be clear, I cannot take any action in game, as soon as the vet reward gump and greeting message try to pop up the client crashes completely and closes in the process.

mine didn't do it when I logged in, but it did when I used the runebook
to go to where Yukio's studio is located.

I checked other characters that also had Yukio's quest and I still can't open their quest log.
I did discover that Origin still has the quest giver there.

Yeah, in Enhanced Client I no longer see the quest listing with my others. I tried resigning from ALL quests in enhanced and then trying again in CC but still getting the insta crash.

I click on quests in CC or in EC (with Pinco's)
I don't get to see the list at all.
all characters that have Yukio's quest, can't view their quest log
(except Origin, because the NPC is still there)

Same. At least I am not insta-crashing.

Based on Maldar's comment I checked Origin. Found a toon that still had the quest active there (but wasn't crashing at login) so I was able to remove the quest using quest dialogue. Problem must be tied to how the quest was removed on other shards since it is till in place on Origin.

Mine works fine in basic CC. Can see the log no crashes.

Pawain Lake Superior seems to behave as Origin. I had a toon there with the unfinished quest and it let me open dialogue and resign. Lake Austin and Siege are not so lucky.

Yeah, it's absolutely broken. Checked a few characters used for testing the event when it first came out. Can't open the quest log. Glad things work for you @Pawain but it's busted for so many others. Poor decision by the development team to make edits on a Friday if not planning to support the issues that arise from it. Period.

Hey folks, Khyro suggested nuking the entire folder for each affected character in your Docs/EA games folder. This worked for me. I had tried nuking a few files but not the whole folder. I can now log into the characters that had been crashing the client immediately on connection again. Quest button works, though all my quests are gone.

It's great that there's a workaround - and an old one at that (this method used to work for many "black-holing" issues way back in the old days) but it's sad that it came to this. It was a foreseeable outcome that not all of us would have finished or cancelled the quest prior to the whole thing being taken down. Also a lot of us seem to have thought that this was going to continue for longer.

I don't want to lose the quests I have.
I guess I will just have to live with not being able to see my quests.

I can turn in quests when they are completed, I did today.

You do not lose quest info when deleting your charcters profile. If you did we could edit the file and add quests.

Let's not spread falsehoods.

someone else said that when they did that, that their quest log was empty.
that is why I made that comment.
because I don't want to risk it.

I wasn't trying to spread falsehoods.
I was just saying that I'm choosing not to do what they did.

If quests were in the files, we could get quests and save the file, do the quest and then copy it back. Would make Paroxymus and Exodus pretty easy.

I have deleted my files more than once. I have a few years old folders I replace my character files with so I can have my macros when I travel or on TC. I delete and make characters for getting Tabards. I copy and paste deleted char files to the new character so I have macros for them. They do not change your quests. That person probably quit all their quests. That is why they were gone.

She is referring to post #10.
I know, and quest info is not on our computers. Read what neat things we could do above, if they were.

Add to that getting the rewards for quests over and over if our quests were in our character files. Do quests that require a final step like Zippy and most Eodon quests, we could save the file in a folder, then go get the reward and copy the file before we got the reward back and get the reward over and over.

Quest info is not stored on the PC like that. This is a fact. It is 100% all server side. Like Paiwan said, if it was just sitting there in a file on our end, we could edit it.

Want to do the Abyss house quests again? Just add it to the file. One and done quest do-over? Edit the file. Don't want to do a quest at all but get credit? Hey let's edit the file!
^ all fake options.

I can accept quests all day and delete that folder. It does nothing and those quests are still there. Doubt it? Grab an EJ account and test away.

That solution may fix a fatal login error some uses have been having, it has 0 effect on the quest log itself.
