Suggestion for Magery Mastery pet?

Hey folks, happy Halloween season!

I plan on building an AI / Magery mastery pet and I'd like to hear your recommendation on which animal to use.

I will be on an elf, and can use male or female toons. My primary intended use is Plunderbeacons.

This animal will not be used for PvP of any kind. I will put 110 scrolls on it.

Currently I'm bouncing between a unicorn, nightmare, or firesteed.

What would you use, and why? Appreciate any input, thanks!

I would not use the firesteed because it does not come with innate Margery and is already a lower intensity pet.

Unicorns and nightmares both come with innate Margery making Margery mastery cost just 1 point. As for which I would choose between those two, it would come down to personal preference. nightmares would have the edge on beacons due to dragon breath as an additional ranged damage component.

After my Bug went wild at sea I decided to take my new color NM that has MM. Works great on ship crews. Pet hops onto ship and kills them.

MM pets do not do much damage to the Dread Pirate compared to a Chiv pet or beetle.

I have not got mine to jump onto a Beacon. I may have to get closer?

What would you use, and why?
A Beetle with rune corruption or any pet with AI/Chiv for Dread Pirate ships. I scuttle the ships without messing with the crew, then board and the pet wipes out the crew and then the Pirate.

Any pet for Beacons. MM works if they hop onto the pontoon. A pet with an area damage for doing some damage to the crew. One of my guys takes a goo/Mystic Hiryu to slightly damage the crews and kill sea monsters.

Serpentine Dragon. They are the "Archmage" of pets. They have the highest INT of any pet, up to a staggering 1,040 INT (WAY overcap). The high INT not only boosts their spell damage (slightly) and mana regeneration rate, but it also plays a big role in Mind Blast damage, which Magery Mastery pets can cast. They also come with Dragon Breath. Trainable Animal Bestiary | uo-cah.com
Just be aware though, that Magery Mastery pets will cast Death Ray, which deals Energy damage, and the Plunder Beacon itself is immune to Energy Damage. The pet will continue channeling Death Ray until either A) they get hit, B) they run out of Mana, or C) you give them a new command.
With Magery Mastery pets, a higher Magery skill actually does affect their damage output, through Death Ray and Mind Blast. They are the only pet i would even consider putting a 120 Magery PS on.

Also, even a Serpentine Dragon with 1,040 INT/1,500 Mana/30 MR/120 Magery/120 Eval/120 Med/120 Focus and Magery Mastery, cannot compete damage wise with a Chiv+AI pet in melee. They excel in ranged damage, but don't compare to a 120 Chiv+AI pet in melee. :(

This is true though I usually take a MM Unicorn and a MM Serpentine Dragon with me when I do pirates... I love that they jump right to the Pirate ships and start killing... they were sometimes jumping to the Beacons but after the last "fix" of Beacons they quit doing that...

But the main beauty of a Unicorn is they are immune to poison... I rather like that. In some cases it helps them quite a bit if you are fighting something that poisons a lot... I've found at the spider champ and such you don't have to worry a lot about them... they are also great at the Turtle champ... mixed with a Mystic Mage tamer in stone form you and your pet are immune to poison.

But if you scuttle the ship first, MM seems superfluous as you can take any pet across, no?

Also, did they ever fix MM pets going poof when the pirate ship crosses the server line with the aboard?

Right. When I first begin I take my mage with the MM pet. I'm after Dread Pirates for filling bottles. And for GM cargo.
After he scuttles I go get a Chiv pet and bring my other toons on the ship. Then they stay to continue hunting.

So, I use MM and non MM pets.

I have 60 GM cargo now so I am changing to Beacons now for Mythics to get more Tritons.
I give 2 Triton stautes to returners who have HS. I tell them to open them and they can keep the one I dont want. (that way they are bonded to them) Usually they get to keep both. I dont have to make them go poof.

I have magery mastery on a phoenix just have to be careful about the dread pirates/orc ships sometimes he teleports on board those boats. If that ship is sailing in a different direction ur pet goes along. Once ur pet teleports over its hard to get the to teleport back.
