Pretty sure it's still @Andrasta that runs the Goodman Library. No idea if they're related though...Arya has a house falling today in Zento. The sign says "of the Goodman family". Does anyone know if this person also runs the Goodman library?
Guess you didn't read post #8 where in fact she did say she was going to bless itPerhaps Mesanna can save the house and bless it like she did one of our libraries on GLs...
Yeah I did... she's flighty... one min she saves something next min no no never happen... Sorry, hope you can keep the place going... it's sad to lose a landmark... more and more go all the time and it just leaves a hole in the community.Guess you didn't read post #8 where in fact she did say she was going to bless it
If you click on the link from post #8, you'll see the whole thread on the other forum and who bought itWho bought the Game Time Code?
She put a temporary bless on the house since the game code came in close to the collapse threshold. She specifically said she would not do this on a permanent basis at the start of the thread.Guess you didn't read post #8 where in fact she did say she was going to bless it
You can't wait to throw digs can you?Yeah I did... she's flighty... one min she saves something next min no no never happen... Sorry, hope you can keep the place going... it's sad to lose a landmark... more and more go all the time and it just leaves a hole in the community.
I think when Kazola's fell which it never should have... that really hurt GLs... Now I am to understand that Red Devils is gone as well... another major loss for GLs... not to mention at least 3 of our own have died in the last year... one very recently. I just have to keep remembering what my Grandmother told me about getting older... that you need to get used to losing ... as the older you get the more you will experience loss.
OMG Another one that I guess no matter what the DEVs do is never good enough. She is doing everything in her power to help save the house and thanks to @AtlanticRealtor who donated a GTC something special has been saved. She put a temporary bless on the house since the game code came in close to the collapse threshold. So unless the owner transfers the house or account, this is just a stay of execution for the moment
I think you’re misunderstanding my post. I have no horse in the game and if pushed to take a side I would have said that I didn’t think the devs should have stepped in at all. If the owner doesn’t want to maintain the house, let it fall.OMG Another one that I guess no matter what the DEVs do is never good enough. No, she isn't... She saved one on GLs... a Keep. So it IS in her power to do more... she has all the power in the world in the game. Don't buy into that she is doing everything BS as she isn't. If she was it'd be saved already permanently.OMG Another one that I guess no matter what the DEVs do is never good enough. Could she please bring back the player memorials she removed from Baja New Magincia? Pretty please with sugar on it?all the power in the world
+1I didn’t think the devs should have stepped in at all. If the owner doesn’t want to maintain the house, let it fall.
Nobody said it was permanently blessedI think you’re misunderstanding my post. I have no horse in the game and if pushed to take a side I would have said that I didn’t think the devs should have stepped in at all. If the owner doesn’t want to maintain the house, let it fall.
What I WAS saying is that the information that the house was permanently blessed was incorrect, nothing more.
Fairly sure the original owner passed on... and his son was maintaining it... now not sure if his son is ok or not but who would know...Sighs! When will this horrible, broken process of house decay ever be fixed and replaced with something more humane?
The only people who like house decay are looters. Yes land should go to active players But this guy ought to at the very least get his stuff put in a warehouse to claim when he is active. Life and billing errors happen.
Glad this one is temporarily saved!

Here is the post you were replying to where MalagAster is clearly referring to a permanent blessing which is what happened to the Keep on GLPerhaps Mesanna can save the house and bless it like she did one of our libraries on GLs...
Here is your response indicating the house had indeed been blessed and by extension of MalagAste's original comment implying that it was a permanent blessing.Guess you didn't read post #8 where in fact she did say she was going to bless it
In this case, Goodman along with his real world family were pretty open about how to contact them outside the game. Emails, phone numbers etc. were exchanged often for years. These days it's mostly Andrasta who communicates with them due to her being the one maintaining the big updated Goodman's rune library in Zento, while his real life son maintains the small original one for Atlantic historical purposes. It's been kind of a unique situation where the family who didn't play the game themselves still fully and actively support keeping the deceased players legacy alive in the game because they know how much UO meant to him.Fairly sure the original owner passed on... and his son was maintaining it... now not sure if his son is ok or not but who would know...
How many of us share such personal details that someone would really know if you dropped dead tomorrow? How many could contact your family and find out?
If I died tomorrow I doubt my friends would be able to contact my family and find out. Sure they have my phone # but my cell is passworded... who's gonna answer it?
Some folk their family probably don't even know anything about our community.
Makes you wonder.
I just hope that someone can find him before this comes up again in a few months... be a shame to lose it.
Perhaps, similar needs could be dealt on a Permanent solution basis by having a Policy that permitted, rather then a monthly subscription payment, a one time, lump sum payment which the owners of Ultima Online could decide the amount for maintaining an account as active, indefinitively, until Ultima Online's Servers were to stay up.....In this case, Goodman along with his real world family were pretty open about how to contact them outside the game. This is exacly the issue. In all reality this house shoud have fallen, there shouldn't have been a grace period. My houses will fall one day when I finnaly decide to stop paying, it would appear that the son decided he had enough with paying for the account. Who can blame him, paying to keep some random pixels around in a game he doesn't play.I think you’re misunderstanding my post. I have no horse in the game and if pushed to take a side I would have said that I didn’t think the devs should have stepped in at all. If the owner doesn’t want to maintain the house, let it fall.
That would end up with the same 20ish people owning half of Atlantic and doubling the price of all the houses for profit within a year. We've already seen how extreme the effects of one IDOC'er with 50 accounts can be on the Atlantic housing market, imagine the price gouging and house hoarding that would go on if that person could suddenly have 250+ houses instead of 50 at one time. Here's a thought, with so many people gone and with all but Atlantic being fairly empty perhaps its time to lift the one house per account rule again. Allow every character to own a house and people will stop playing the "pay for one month and let it go dormant three months" game.
While you make some ok suggestions I don't ever want to see IDOCs going to an Auction system... this only serves the rich. If anything it should be a lottery one entry per account... This would be more fair.
Heck they could even do a random 125 items per lottery... random. As many winners as the house held stuffs... then the spot then just randomly opens to one of the lottery winners... If they don't want it or can't take it then it is "forfeit" and drops. This would be far more fair.
As for the house issue I've always said that each account should get up to 32x32... if you want that many 8x8's then ok... but each account should get however many houses it takes to reach 32x32. 16 8x8's or 4 16x16's or whatever it works out to... 1 castle or whatever... but that's me.
Heck I still think they would make a killing offering basements... which allow 32x32 storage in 1 level...
But that's me... I also think they should maybe revisit the idea of you can have 1 house per shard... that might get folk to actually play more on other shards. Though I'd say limit it to 2 or 3 at most per account.
Just out of curiosity, how did he lose his houses unfairly?I'm reminded that Brian DeSpell lost, I believe, six of his seven houses unfairly recently.
He was doing the pay once every 3 months thing, but his houses were dropping in 2 months instead of 3 for no apparent reason which made it impossible for him to know when to apply the next gametime code, resulting in all of his houses but the one paid 100% of the time falling way early.Just out of curiosity, how did he lose his houses unfairly?
Ouch. That’s some BS thereHe was doing the pay once every 3 months thing, but his houses were dropping in 2 months instead of 3 for no apparent reason which made it impossible for him to know when to apply the next gametime code, resulting in all of his houses but the one paid 100% of the time falling way early.
