Any NEWS on the shard crashing issues of Atlantic, considering the last few days of drama?

I'm sure this really started since the High Seas update, but I could be wrong.

However, I spend so much time outside spawn, doing crafting and business... lag and even disconnects are not a big deal. Annoying! Just not a big deal. Then the whole Atlantic shard crashes. The last 3-4 days, this has been very reminiscent of the "bad old days" of pre-AOS. Doesnt seam to have a logically flow. Time of day, amount of people I see hanging around. No warning, BAMB... down.

Its like you dont want to risk going out and hunting. I'm sure anyone that goes back before AOS knows the feeling all to well. hehe

Has any chatter been going on about the cause and the repair?... I'm sure it will happen vs. "if" it will happen.

Heck, I have always looked at it as being the price ya pay for being on Atlantic honestly. I would not feel right never seeing the shard crash.. I would think I was on a different shard.

My best guess is one of the owners of several of the unicorn puke houses that got "fixed" is pissy so therefore they are doing some sort of DDOS like attack against the server causing it to crash often.

I really dread to think that is the case... but I wouldnt put it past what is possible these days.

I know a level of "questionable" favoritism has taken place on Atlantic between a few and EMs. The stories... even from dependable people. You just never know.

It reminds me of years ago when a few houses were "exploded", reduced to a pile of black ruins burning on the grass around Luna... examples made of hard-core cheaters. Who knows?

I just want us Atlantic folk to play without fear of crashes. :)

So someone is upset that the devs heavy handidly blocked a large portion of their players designs and automatically they are engaging in criminal tactics in retalliation? Thought you were better than that Mal. Btw at least the Devs have now walked back on their decision and are now making it an option in the settings to see or not see things.

Europa has gone down a few times too since Publish 104, we also had a couple of reverts, other shards have crashed too, it's not just Atlantic.

I'm happy that they fixed the exploit... personally I think being forced to look at that unicorn puke is disturbing. But yes I think that the players who are crying over it are the ones responsible for the crashing.

I described it "as if a toybox threw up". :)

I've been working today... noticed quite a few little lag pockets in the morning (afternoon EST). No clue if it crashed before that... but you would figure they would do an emergency fix, what means a downtime, and they normally post something "normally"... or some warning.

It would be amazingly grand if they would have an auto warning come to the play screen before a crash happens... like they would do at the end of the day. At least give you 10 seconds to get out of battle.

Well ****. Let's just get rid of all house customization while we're at it, because there are only a handful of houses I have ever seen that aren't a ****ing eyesore. It takes a good bit of design sense to not make a catastrophe, and there aren't many people playing UO that can do it (no, I'm not one of them).

But that customization is different.. it doesn't have to load each and every item... it caches those for you reducing lag... the hand built crap with all the junk puked up all over on top of the cached bit that you are forced to load causes significant lag and processing...

Description is great and pretty accurate of any hassle like this.

Now, I am going to clarify something about the second bolded part. Let me ask 1 question: does your microwave warn you before it stops working correctly? Or the fridge, your car, etc. Point is that with electronic setups like the shards, there typically is no warning when something goes upside-down.

Not to mention rectal bleeding and the diabeetus

Lot of dupes used to occur when someone finds a bug that crashed a shard.

They’d transfer to the shard and crash it on an alt account.

I recall drunkenly crashing a few shards after the in game store first opened.

You’d open the store tab and cross a server line and poof down.

If it’s happening on multiple shards I’d turn off shard transfers until they found the bug.
