Keeping those in a pack happy while hunting

I just fresh tamed five scorpions and took them up against some over-land ogres and gargoyles to test what pack instinct bonus does now. While the damage is pretty nice, the trouble I was having was keeping them wonderously happy. I was also having trouble getting all five scorpions to attack the target. One or two would just hang back and stand there. I was having to spend half the time feeding them and double checking their happiness level. Is this the downside of trying to run a pack to get the bonus damage increase?

whats ur taming/lore at? I only ask to make sure its high enough that they aren't getting unhappy because of that. I tried the whole pack thing back around when ish was first opened I had 5 predator hellcats bonded. I never had any issues with pet happiness, tho that may have been changed over the years. The hellcat pack I had did pretty nice they were able to kill dragons (*not greaters) with only 1 dieing usually. They weren't full gm either so if I full gmd them they may have been able to do it with no deaths. I ended up releasing them to free up stable space they were fun but in the end it was too much work to keep them all alive and together when I could accomplish the same things with a single pet. I never had trouble with them not attacking that I can remember. You could try giving them seperate names and telling them individually to attack instead of all kill that might prevent the slackers. Have to set up 5 macros tho.

You might also want to try Wolf Spiders, they are GREAT in a pack of 5! (And have better HP than Scorpies.) Though indeed at times they can be stubborn as well, refusing orders from someone well above the requirement level (120/120). Usually the next order will work so haven't had an issue with happiness though.

I have to agree here.

Also do a lot more damage!

Near same damage type.

I do like the significant bump in base damage. I'll give them a try as soon as I can. One thing, though. I bought a couple of the drakes a couple of hours ago thinking that they had pack instinct as well. I came to find out that the energy drakes have the pack bonus but the frost drake does not. Why didn't all the drakes get the drake pack instinct bonus?

Pure speculation here, but my guess is because newer pets were introduced with the intent of the pet leveling system, not for their pack abilities

It seems very irregular indeed as Xare says, what surprises us is that the Stygian Drake at 4 slots still has Pack instinct, while when upgrading pets to the 4th slot they will lose their pack instinct. Maybe because the Frost Drakes don't have the Dragon Breath disadvantage, they don't get the buff from pack instinct? Also speculating. One maxed would seem better than 2 with pack bonus anyway we think.

I've been wanting to try that for a long time. Stable is full though. Started a new treasure hunter tamer today though so may get to try it on him.
