I released my 3-slot legacy firebeetle and retamed it, and it did not go down to 1-slot.
Now what? Should I discard it and tame a new fresh one?

Go tame a new one. Fire Beetles are fun because they are essentially blank slates with a lot of points and virtually no intensity spread, so there is no farming required.

They only differ in fire resists - the spread is from 70 to 75 - you want to 'farm' one with 75% fire resists - worth the time!

It seems sort of unfair, my fire beetle has been with me now for over 15 years and he's fully skill trained. So I'm sposed to just axe him and send him to wherever old pets go huh? Why not let us just reset them to the new stats but keep all the labor we've done training them, not to mention the "love" you've had for them over the years? I know, I'm just a bit of a sentimental slob but this game means a lot to me and so do the characters and pets I have had for years and years.

I hear you. But they did have it so we can reset the slots. And some people found out they can exploit this and did so. They created pets with way too low slots, that they then could train into way OP pets. This caused the Devs to install the non-slot revert code. This ruined pets that should legitimately be able to be reverted, like 4-slot Cus, and 4-slot legacy pets. It was the exploit nuke code that did it. There was no other way. They had to do this. Sadly I let all my 3-slot fire and blue bugs go also. Just using up stable spots. Its easy to get both fire and blue bugs. Most shards people will get 2-3 for you for free. You can get them at one sitting, 3-4 of them, then invisi them, then walk out-recall, log off and on and wala: 4 brand new bugs on your side.

Maybe dead unbonded tamer pets get 72 virgins?

How is that worth the time - as they can be imbued to 80, and the total resist is constant... is no extra points in that.

It would be 15 total points. That beetle would have 5 more HP than a 70 fire. Too boring for 5 HP on that pet type for me.

Guess you cannot get a max intensity base pet that fast as you can with a fire beetle - sometimes you only need kill one or two - in my 'eyes' - that is always worth the time ... simple.

Nothing wrong with putting it out there. Since you only have to look at one thing and just cast one more E Bolt to make another one. :)
