Someone was smoking some good stuff to think paying those prices is some kind of reasonable. 
Frankly, I want nothing to do with someone else's designs. I really-really love custom design. Something only experience gets better over time and one house to the next. I could never dream of accepting a "contest" design... just like it never made any sense to me why you would waste a vet pic on someone else's mini house design. I always thought it was a WAY better idea to have a mini house of your own design... or a snow globe. Just because the masses vote for something doesnt mean its "good". Sorry! Just like I love playing with custom keeps or castles and never enter the contest... because I dont want 100 people owning my design. Bad enough to see a good idea get copied someplace else. BUT its nice to know people are thinking even with a little copy theft.
The Japanese shards used to have wonderful custom house designs... before the massive population loss. Even so, you still see some beautiful designs. Want to have some fun? Log on, look around.

is there anyone who ended with an improper placed keep there to test if the switch to another design is possible?
Why does theese buildings have different storage numbers? I thought the size of the plot was deciding the storage? Shouldnt they all have the same storage as an old keep or castle? I dont mind different costs for different amount of materials as much as the difference in storage. How do I build if I want max storage? How do I know when I vote what place have the best storage?
the list is mixed up between keep and castle
the number you see is the number applied to that very account including the expansions
All of the new keeps have the same storage as a classic keep (4830 with full +60% storage increase), and all of the new castles have maximum storage like a classic castle (7500 with full +60% storage increase)
The pic at the top of this thread was apparently taken on an account with only +40% storage increase (e.g. without High Seas or the Housing Storage Upgrade code) so it only gets 4226 for keeps and 6563 for castles.
I wish I could buy a castle storage with a sandstone footprint. Did I get off topic? Yes, yes I did. Hashbrowns for me!

So if I were to consider to change to one of the custom Keep/Castle's from my old dumpy home, how would I do that? Would need to place a NEW custom structure
first somewhere, get the message that the old house is going to fall, then I would move ALL my stuff to the new structure piece by piece, then remove the walls floors, add-ins, any attached items gozas etc. and finally delete the old building?
Or just use the house placement tool and replace the current old house?
Also I assume that by Un-Building your old home, you get some $$$ back of what you initially put for walls floors etc.?

You can ONLY convert an existing KEEP or CASTLE to the new designs, once you have removed all gozas, stone work tiles, addons etc you will get the option to convert, if you still get a message saying to 'remove those type of items' it means you have missed an addon or goza etc. The rest of your items, deco, plants, chests etc will automatically go to the moving crate once your conversion is successful. Not sure what happens with a totally NEW placement, ie if there is room to drop a keep or castle down if you have to place a regular keep/castle and then convert of if you can just place the 'new' design, perhaps someone else has that info, all mine have been conversions of existing.
Thank you for the info..I do not have keep or castle, so how would I go about to make a castle or keep? Do I have to place a castle with a tool elsewhere, and them move? Or I can covert my present home to Castle/Keep? TY in advance.
You cannot convert your existing home to a Castle or Keep unless there is enough room room around it to demolish it and place a new one. Castles and Keeps are on the house placement tool, you can see how big they are by clicking on one and seeing the 'shadow' of the building to get an idea of size. Depending on what shard you are on there may be 'spaces' free to place a new castle or keep in which case once you PLACED one your old house would go into decay and you can move your stuff to the new one, but if you are on a high populated shard like Atlantic there would be no chance of finding a space big enough to place one.
I heard or read somewhere that if you want to change your existing keep or castle into a newer one you need to remove all of the things on the first floor. The reason for this is because the new one has a foundation and the old one does not. Everything in the old one if you did not move it to an upper floor would fall under the foundation and would be impossible to get. Everything in the old keep or castle would go into a moving crate when it was changed.

Oh I fully intend to pack everything I can fit into backpacks and beetles, anything else will go through the teleporter to my husband's house which was converted first. I've been having a clear-out for a few weeks now. I just wondered if there was an easier way than demolishing and then replacing.
if you resize you have to clear everything out resizing drops everything to the ground. I cleaned my keep out because wasn't taking chance my stuff going poof because of some glitch. then I decided to move my keep more to the left. I used resize option putting in the new keep I ended up on a raft with a gate. got back to my spot no keep was placed so I placed the classic keep and converted to the new keep. I still have characters sitting on beetles with full packs. character packs full, and filled banks. across 4 accounts.Can you change an existing 18 x 18 into a Keep, the old standard one, by resizing? Or do I need to clear everything out, place a keep, then change the keep to a new design? I'm a bit useless with housing...
just empty out 18 by 18 resize to classic keep convert to new keep saving you the trouble I went through

You would hope so, right? Imagine if not, and you want to change to another. Nice little waste of 21 - 48 M. That is nothing for the PLAT guys and gals, but for us measly mortals would be nasty..lol
Yes, you get the gold back that you spent to place the new Keep.
Clear everything out if you are going to use the resize command. Like others have said, everything in the house will be on the ground if you don't. Also, certain items are known to drop on the ground and can't be removed, preventing you from placing. When you use the resize command, your house spot is reserved for one hour for you to place any old or new style you want, providing it will fit in the area and you have the gold. I placed my Traditional Keep I haven't done anything with it yet gonna be a bit as for the next few days I'll be super busy putting bods on the tree, getting my gifts on all my characters on all my accounts which will take a few days I think I'm only 5 accounts in and still working.

I love just being able to have space for decorating, the old keep was a very flawed design, both of the new redesigned ones in the traditional style are a huge improvement but they still say 'Keep' to me! I'm really enjoying decorating, but I need to go slow or my tendonitis will flare up!
