This is why this game is dying because of people with power silencing / ignoring the conversation all together.

It did, but it started getting civil again. The real reason it was asked for to begin with is because Cetric wasn't getting his own way.

Actually it was closed after the forum admin and moderators discussed the numerous reports the thread had generated. We have places you can pvp trash talk within reason in multiple forums. By with in reason I mean in those threads it’s fine to tell people how much they may suck, but not about the wild romp that you, their mother, a capybara, and a circus midget had the previous evening.

The thing is, it is a no win situation for staff, if left open it would have cycled back to trash talk and more warnings would be issued, likely suspending someone and the staff will be viewed as “Nazis” for it. Lock the thread so we don’t eventually have to suspend someone(s) who usually are a productive member of the community because they lapse in regard to that 1 subject, and guess what? We’re still looked at as “Nazis” by some folks.

Leaving the thread alone and doing nothing isn’t an option either as believe it or not we get new members daily. The first impression of Stratics they receive shouldn’t be that we’re a forum full of bullying jerk-offs, and that our Staff condones and/or endorses that behavior through inaction.

We’re in truth rather lax, if we took the advice of people who build up and manage numerous “Big Boards” (High user/post count) a person might get one warning before being banned so they don’t risk polluting the community. We don’t take that route, we play the point game and provide chances for users to redeem themselves if they have a lapse in judgement and break the site RoC. When we see threads like this that by their nature break our RoC it sometimes makes us wonder if we’re wrong in taking the softer stance. But that’s a discussion for another time for now this thread is closed.
