[Discussion] Returning Alchemist Needs Update

Good evening!

I have just returned to my old account (2003) with my GM Alchemist. I used to make my living by selling greater potion (explosion, poison, cure, heal) kegs at the Malas bank. I have a lot to learn about how things have changed over the years. What are the potions in demand these days? This is on Catskills shard which I know is not the most populated but I'm not interested in moving shards. Catskills has been home since I started in T2A.

Cure, heal, dex, str, conflagration, and refresh are main pots now a days. Orange petals and purple petals too. Atl would prob be the place to come tho, all other shards are fairly low population.

Catskills native here. With the new vendor search it doesn't matter where your house is located people will find your wares. Just pop a vendor up and put your potions on it. If you don't see any forsale on Catskills check out Atlantic for prices. I do agree with Happy Rage, it will be more difficult to make sales on any shard but Atlantic.

Well I'm not out to get rich but would like to be able to sell again. Maybe if more vendors would create a supply in other shards, people might migrate. I'd love to see this game back to what it used to be...population-wise. A person can dream...

you could also create a toon on atl to get a vendor, and make friends with or have a friend of yours with shard shields xfer your pots/wares over to atl to sell once every couple weeks or how often they transfer. just another option for you so they aren't sitting not being sold

I do not want to discourage you, like truly do not. I am 100% for any effort to revitalize shards. However, one of the biggest reasons a lot of shards have empty vendors isn't because there is NO ONE to sell stuff, its because it takes so long to sell stuff the vendor fees eat up any profits and people find its not cost effective to do that. Many people end up making friends or have friends with shard shields. Most commerce happens on Atlantic and then once their wares are sold on Atlantic the profits (and any items they might want to buy for themselves) gets sent back to their home shard.

It was one of the larger populated shards even when UO was more popular and its been the migration point for PvP and commerce. A lot of guilds/players have moved there. Some transferred their characters over, some created duplicates of their characters but rarely touch their originals on their home shard anymore.

I also play on Catskills, potions will sell on vendors over there but not quickly. Instead of doing a vendor to sell your potions and paying the fees.. What I would do is make in bulk and spam in general chat or post in the Catskills trade forum on here.. like I would do deeds of 1000 healing potion bottles or 10 kegs of healing and then yell out in general chat or post in the cats trade forum that your looking to sell X-amount for X-amount of gold.. You will save in gold and can probably find repeat customers that way also. When you make a sale I would try to up-sale the person and ask if they are looking for more or need other types of potions..
