Dear Broad Sword,

I was working my t-hunting magic on a level 7 chest in a very very nasty place in Ilshenar when all of a sudden the chest emptied itself of its remaining loot...

You put some tough baddies in level 7 chests, unfortunately one of the renegade changelings didn't like me and decided it wanted to rid the world of me, twice...

Walking back twice and getting my stuff took some time, I admit, but I think it's rather unfair that the chests empties itself after a certain amount of time while you're still grabbing things from said chest...

It's not the first time this happened either. One level 5 chest even disappeared while I was emptying it and was only halfway sifting through loot.

Surely a chest can be flagged in some way if you're still emptying it?

Bleh.

Awww that sucks! I've never had that problem as I play EC, but I can imagine how nasty that is. I have had t-hunts where I just died and died, Ter Mur is a horrible place for that, it's the surrounding spawn that often gets me! How long does it take to vanish?

I think this goes back to the days when we had T spots lock-in stone and just in Tram/Fel and there was several, several, complaining of not being able to do a map because someone would forget to drop the chest.

I did think it was a long timer, but of course accidents happen and I know emptying the chest takes longer in the CC. I agree that if the chest has items in it should stay, it should only auto vanish when empty, Problem is that sometimes people leave items and forget to get rid of the chest. I know a couple of times I forgot and had to go back and dispose of it. We wouldn't want chests being left half full all over the place. Tricky thing to find a solution for I guess. :(

I did not time it. I was killing things with a trained giant beetle. In the end I had to switch to a Cu several times as the beetle had a tough time with the Renegades. I had worked on it for an hour maybe?

Damn, sad to work on something for that long and it go *poof* I would have been gutted too! :(
I agree with Fridgster too, there is so much junk even in high level chests. I often don't find anything remotely worthwhile. I know they did a revamp on the t-hunting a while back, but it could do with more love, it's such a fun profession, in my opinion! :D

Actually there is really an easy fix. Spawn less crap loot in it! Quality over quantity!
That would help but you can easily set it to a 20 minute timer. Everytime you grab something from it - reset the timer. So it can go on for 3 hours if you need as long as you are puling one item every 20 minutes. If it is abandoned - no one pulls for 20 min and then it decays. Simple.

The problem is the renegade changelings on L7 chests in Ilsh - I’ve managed to solo them before by keeping them poisoned so they don’t heal, but now if there are those changelings in the spawn, I usually just move on to the next map - just not worth the trouble

I don't know your t-hunter template ofcourse, I'm sure you've tried Fey Slayers?

Yes less crap in the chests please, just a few nice items is sufficient. BTW nobody considers gems, scrolls, and reagents to be fat loots.

I don't know your t-hunter template ofcourse, I'm sure you've tried Fey Slayers?
lol, that’s what I mean by too much trouble for me :) I usually treasure hunt with a gargoyle disco mystic mage

I primarily do ( low-end) chests for the regs and gems - why buy alchemy/scribe supplies when you can do t-maps and get paid to get them?

That said, on the original subject, I had a level 6 that I had the contents decay in front of my eyes, when I finally opened it.

It was on Tram Buc's Den, and the guardian spawn was SIX Ancient Wyrms and 2 Greater Dragons. It took an hour to kill them, because of the rubber-banding and that fighting them where multiple guardians could attack was suicide.

Had the same problem on TC when level 7 was released. There where 3 or 4 FD which spawns and i was solo
When i want to get the loot the chest was empty. Thought it has todo with TC.

I take all the gems and regs but I recently got rid of a ton of regs when I down-sized my house. I only started t-hunting about 18 months ago and I love it, along with fishing up SoS chests it's the most fun I have in UO. I can only manage lvl 6 chests so far though.

We've had to endure "you must rest 5 minutes before we continue our journey" for how many years now ? Because players were making too much gold back then escorting more than 1 npc at a time. Little changes like this would go a long way to improving everyones gameplay.

By the way, I love Stratics, but this thread needs to exist somewhere else now unfortunately, in order to have an effect.

I am pretty sure that @Kyronix still comes here... He's the best... but yes if you are having an issue you might try submitting a bug report on it and explaining the problem. Especially since the next publish will focus on bug squashing.

I hope they do something about those flesh renderer bugs in Doom. Those are rough. hehe
I agree, I cant do it without death lol. hey let make a creature that takes almost all your life and poisons you, too funny. I see people using another account to cure/heal their char. bush evasion can help but can still die.
some use the auto cure/heal. coughs ! I was excited about doom but not so much not lol.

Lol, I stand corrected! I assumed all players just buy bulk.
