Which is generally better for a warrior? I have a feeling healing is kind of outmoded by chivilry because chiv can do my than just heal.... Which should I take and why?

I use both on my PvM Paladin. Enhanced bandages with 100 heal/anat can be applied while fighting and heal more than the chiv spells. I use chiv for SJ, NS and others as needed (Consecrate, Cleanse, etc).

PVM I am doing an axer build with parry though I kind of wonder how useful parry is without a shield...
Then dont think about it twice and make a sampire, you need 100necromancy to cast vampiric embrace, then try to get high parrying and bushido to cast evasion.

There are some nice sampire templates on stratics boards, check them out

I don't have a Sampire, never made one. I do love healing tho, works fast enough in most cases, will cure and heal at the same time, and, most importantly, a one button macro push will apply it and it can be done on the fly. Don't have to stop like with Chiv

Mine does, but I'm not running very high chiv (80'ish) dont know what 120 chiv would heal

Ummm, did you read what I wrote earlier? You know, where I wrote " ... Enhanced bandages with 100 heal/anat can be applied while fighting and heal more than the chiv spells. ... "?
Sorry man, I did read it actually but I am tired and forgot that you said that. Thanks. I think I'll go with healing.

I have a paladin that I have invested nearly 17 yrs into. I do not have any other magic support skills beyond chivalry - so I guess you could call him a "pure" paladin. I keep revamping skills & gear to try to keep up with the ever increasing damage as they update mobs. I simply cannot live without the healing skill. You can basically keep healing / curing going constantly without missing a swing or having to try to max out FC / FCR on already cramped template. Bandages are cheap & are a tremendously powerful combination with leeches on your weapons. IMO if you only have chivalry for healing, you will need to max FC / FCR, have high mana regen (and maybe have some hit point regen) as well as have good mana leech on your weapons. It is difficult enough for a paladin to keep enough mana for specials & the normal chivalry spells without having to constantly use mana for healing. I have tried the no healing skill route, & for me the benefits of having healing skill over close wounds is a no brainer.

Are you trying to choose one or fit both in?

I have healing and chiv on my dexxer. Like they said Bandages are a lot better.

My archer uses Chiv for healing because I try to stay away from damage.

Seems like they are saying both are good to have on your warrior. I agree with that.

One or the other, as I only have room for one. I want to be an axer. So I am using lumberjacking on the template. I could drop parry I guess.

I was trying to do 5x 120 Swords, Tactics, Anat, Parry, Healing or Chiv and 100 Lumberjacking. with 20 points left over. I admit, I am not the best at designing templates yet so I'm open to suggestions.

You could imagine that, during the fight, you need to cast mastery, special move, chivalry spells, plus constantly cast close wound, and cleanse by fire, wow, you really need fast fingers.

I stop at 90 on tactics just so the specials work. That way I can fit more in. (probably not a smart thing)

But you could put 60 points on jewels 15 each of two things. I put chiv and something else on jewelry. You can put 3 items on jewelry if they are not in same group. That would get you almost there. I doubt you need the Chiv at 120. EoO and consecrate weapon work with <120 chiv.

But someone that knows the game mechanics might have a better idea.

You know I forgot about jewels. I always do. And the poster above you brings up a good point about needing fast fingers. I guess I don't need chiv to heal. Maybe bushido would be better than chiv anyway since I would be parrying with a two handed weapon right?:)

I probably could afford to stop at 90 tactics, I dunno... I mean with the bonus damage from lumberjacking it might be ok...

I actually use Bushido instead of Parry. Works great with Axe. Back to the fast fingers.

I think you could come up with something to fit it all in.

Swords, Tactics, Anat, Bushido, Healing and Chiv and 100 Lumberjacking

Doesn't bushido rely on parrying?

Edit; Huh.... apparently you can't parry without a shield unless you have bushido anyway so parrying is wasted on my char XD I totally have room for chivalry and healing. Problem solved.

Let the character tell you what it is, and start from there.

PS: Healing is not outmoded, it can be of great use on many templates. Whether or not yours is one of them, see above.
