Town Governors ?

I know there are Trade Deals connected to towns and Governorship; But can someone explain to me what a Governor does, or is meant to do.......

Why are there towns with no trade deals, does it cost more to offer a deal ?

Are there meant to be story arcs created by the player/Governors ?

Having never been a governor there are more qualified people to answer this. But the governor picks the town bonus like SSI or whatever which you can get off the town stone. That's (hopefully) paid for out of the city treasury. The treasury is boosted a great deal by the trade deals and donations on the city stone (I'm a Trinsic guy and our stone is at the bank). Often a governor is allowed to request some decorating around town like once a year. I know some dedicated governors will help the treasury out of their own pockets when necessary. Council meetings occur rather often and your governor should be in attendance. This is often a role play setting and I'd think it would be possible to get some sort of informal events going there. These aren't like the usual events we are use to where there are EM drops. But are the usual source for items like Britannian Royal Guard Sashes and such.

A governor is a pure RP position and they hold no powers other than the ability to choose the city's trade deal and the ability to grant titles to citizens that last until the end of their term (the title system is somewhat restrictive).

Most shards hold an EM-led Royal Council meeting once a month in the council chamber in Castle Blackthorn (Siege/Mugen use the Counselor's Hall in Serpent's Hold). This is the northern most room on the first floor (directly under the throne room). When/How these meetings are run varies wildly from shard to shard, but most serve to recap recent events and help springboard future ones. Citizen participation is encouraged.

"Deco" for a town is almost always a non-starter and most governors have stopped bothering to request it. However, they can get temporary, event-related lockdowns through the PEC (as any player can). Governors can, if done properly, request improvements to their city. These tend to be made through the shard's EM(s) and may require a somewhat involved process (resource gathering, RP events justifying the addition, etc.). These improvements can, in rare instances, result in a change to the map file; such as the addition of the stable in Vesper and the docks in Minoc and Yew.

A governor-led, PEC-assisted event will NEVER result in an item drop. Any player can run an event with the assistance of PEC Raine.

Well said. But if you didn't know the ropes who would ;) Just one thing was I remember long long ago getting sashes that were based strictly on attendance. That isn't done anymore?

So no additional cost in having a trade deal ... then why do we have 5 towns with no trade deals *sigh*

Governors do get lazy sometimes and you might have to bug them about putting up a trade deal ;) It's been awhile but the city stone should tell how much is in the treasury.

There are attendance-based rank rewards on some shards through regular participation in EM events. Royal Guard sashes have been a available a few times from EMs, but anyone can get them from the clean up system and hand them out. Nothing stops a governor, or a player, from personally handing out prizes or gold during their event. Its just that the PEC system will not initiate an EM-style loot drop of any kind.

Trade deals cost two million gold a week. Gold can be generated for a city through direct donation to the City Herald, through the purchase of city loyalty titles, and from people successfully delivering trade orders originating in the city (the grater distance of the delivery and the more times you're ambushed the more gold generated). Governors should know that they can set the trade deal to automatically renew each week (with the same buff) assuming there is enough gold. If a governor isn't setting a deal, and there is gold in the treasury, vote them out of office during the next election cycle.

If a city has a governor, but no gold in the treasury, loyal citizens need to be more active. (Expecting a governor to foot the bill themselves each week never worked)
