I have a similar " duh why didn't I think of it.." type of a book related thing. Had dyed but otherwise normal vendor bought empty books for ages. Wondered what the heck they are; how did they get dyed?`? Surely some rare event or invasion or whatever books! Wish i had more like it!!
Well, turns out you dye things with...dyes.

Actually, not being able to double click it open sounds odd. By default, a normal player crafted books should simply open up.

This why I thought it might be "unique"...
It's clearly the Necronomicon. It's nothing but pure evil and I wouldn't open it. Just ask Ash.
