If you're wanting to buy a newspaper, you have to buy it from a City Herald. I just did one of the beefed-up trade orders on Balhae, so it's active there, of all places.

Yep. Started a new thread for describing odd loot from trade orders. Got an odd item and for delivering 5 wizard hats, got 20 frostwood boards.

You'll know when you get one....there's a humongous pile of crates and monsters that spawns and you get a message that your trade order was stolen!! LOL Looks something like this (this is from Test Center last week.)
No, all the ambushes are now with the big pile of containers, flames, smoke, and what seems to be a new mix of monsters. Some of the monsters I've seen so far that are different from before the publish are flaming gargoyles, bone knights, hell hounds, liches, giant serpents, and mummies. I have not tried doing any by sea. Kind of leery of doing them because they lagged me so much previously that they weren't doing. Afraid the new ones will probably crash the client, with my luck.
I believe the newspapers only come from City Heralds (got mine on Atlantic from the one in Britain). Have not tried a trade quest on Atlantic yet.
Are you just getting the same old spawn and no big piles of boxes, with flames and smoke, and your trade container is not stolen from you by the ambushers and then returned after you kill them all?
I've only had a chance to do two trade quests on Balhae so far and probably won't get to try again until later today. However, on those deliveries, all of the ambushes were the new type.
There should be another line on his gump. It's weird that I bought a paper earlier on Sonoma from the City Herald in Britain but now when I try to buy one from him again using a character on a different account, the option to buy a newspaper is no longer there. Very odd.
I think they turned everything off, Larisa. Going to check on Balhae and see if it's old ambushers again there too.

Yep seems that way...just got another 2 normal ambushes.
The thing is.....with the NEW Ambushes...they steal your trade order and you HAVE to kill them to get it back...and there is some random items on the corpses sometimes that you need for the Arc Event....sorry to say that you'll HAVE to kill them :/UGH!! I thought I was done with these, lol! I have a character that's venerated on every city from doing these to collect guild signs. I think I'll skip this episode since I've done 15 of them so far and no new rewards that I can see. One nice thing I've found is that your order doesn't get taken from you if you don't take damage so it's quite easy to leave those worthless ambushers by the side of the road twiddling their thumbs.
I guess the point of this is to increase city treasuries since I think they're gonna need funds for the next phase?
