Sent in a help ticket and got nothing :(

Well here's what happened. I got my first ever Ancient SOS last night since I started my fishing character and I felt really awesome. This morning I tried to fish it up and I kept getting fish. I've had this happen before with regular SOSes, sometimes they are just broken, sometimes the pin pops up in the wrong place and all you need to do is re opoen them. So I deleted the pin for this one and tried to reopen it and now it wont place a pin at all. I reported the problem to help and asked them to please fix my ASOS. I just got a email thanking me for reporting a bug and apologising for any inconvenience. So I guess that means I'm SOL. Just to make sure I checked to SOS again and sure enough it's still broken. :(

Do GMs regularly thank you and then do nothing to help you? This is the first problem I've had since coming back in April.

Did you try putting it back in your Davie's Locker? (Assuming you have one) That might ~Re-set~ it somehow?

I don't have a Davie's Locker :/

I've also tried typeing the lat and long into the enhanced client's map myself but I don't think I'm doing it right and I can't find any instructions for it.

Try rebooting your pc and trying again... Otherwise throw that in the bank box for 30+ days till it changes it's co-ordinates and try it again later.

What's CC? I'm sorry I'm still pretty oblivious on a lot of stuff. I only returned in april.
There are two ways to play UO.

CC = Classic Client. The original version (which I prefer personally)

EC = Enhanced Client. The newer one with additions like Pinco's user interface.

OK
1. Are you doing this is Fel or Tram. ?
2. What mapping program are you using?
3. CC or EC client?

As you have been told, sos "maps" do reset. If all else fails this could be the only way of "fixing".
Now mind you if you didn't enter in the correct way into ether UOAM or Cart you might be in the wrong spot.
Which would account for the plain fish.

I know this sounds odd, but have you taken a sextant and read the cords it gives you when your at the map location?

probably a silly question, but the mib IS in your backpack and not the ship's hold or elsewhere?

Petra has a point.....

of course when its at fault...
But I like many others make damn sure before we open our mouth and say something we have it right. The op didn't give a lot of info to help find his error if any.
So before you go saying UO is at fault.... best make sure your ducks are in a row.

Ok, the coords are 61. 57'S 133. 40'W
So, literally under the dock at the Floating Emporium? That might be an issue.

I know that, for certain locations (usually on old SOS), you could end up with some locations that couldn't be fished up in Trammel, because the volcano, casino, and underworld entrance area had displaced the sea in those regions.

You may have hit the lottery and found a spot that didn't get excluded when they dropped in the FE for High Seas.

I do know that I actually had an SOS that was within the buoy line at the FE, that I was able to fish up, but the coordinates weren't actually UNDER the structure.

I had a thought....

  1. Character Copy the character AND the SOS to TC1.
  2. Track down Kyronix where he's been monitoring the event tests.
  3. show him the SOS, tell him where the coordinates are, and ask him to check it out in person for you.

Again if you throw it in the bank or something for a month or two it will update itself with a new location...

Just get a rowboat (or your ship if you can drydock it), recall to Fel Fire Island (or the shrine at the south end), and set sail. They are easy to get, and almost no risk of reds (especially after leaving shore), other than a pirate captain NPC.

At least they aren't a T-map INSIDE the casino fence, like I had a few months ago.

Thanks guys. I JUST noticed that there were a bunch of pins for sunken ship right on the fish market. XD Man I guess I did get some crazy RNG there. I'll just throw the SOS in the bank for a month. :) Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll report it right now while it's fresh in my mind. Maybe they can take that location out of the possible ones to roll up.

Did you actually go to the FE and try to fish it up from there? It might still come up. Usually SOS coordinates are good for about a degree in any direction from the location on them, which makes entering coordinates from Davies' Locker useful, either manually, or having a spreadsheet convert them into data for a UOAM/UOC .map file.
