I'm hoping that's not the case. I definitely prefer the old ones. Why do people like these ones anyway? Because they have moods and new smileys?

ahh...so account info like the number of posts and age of acc are gone forever then. i just hope they didnt loose all the stuff on house deco and the roleplay stuff.

OK, to bring everyone up to date:
These message boards were in testing to replace the old ones already, but were no where near ready to use. They were brought up asap in a very basic form because of the emergency, which means we have the default vbb settings in a lot of areas. Customizing them is going to have to wait till we get everything up and running properly again.
To translate the announcement at the top into more basic terms. The people at the data center went and formatted the wrong server, the one they should have done is identical physically. The people we were paying to make 3 per day backups - 1 local, 2 remote. Hadn't actually been doing it, despite telling us they had and being paid for it.
Anyone who knows how hard it is to recover data from a formatted drive with a new os installed will realise - given the size of the Stratic data base, why it's takiing so long.
The recovered databases are being imported into these boards, but that's going to take a while.
There are things on these boards I wish were handled differently, there are things I miss, but I'm just trying to be patient until they can be addressed, which won't be till after we get the rest of the forums back - mostly the professions, and the user data base merged in.
