New Taming system broke my Greater Dragon ????!!!!!!

Belmarduk

Adventurer
Hi
My GD seems to be broken now due to the new system.
The skills which could earlier be trained up to 120 are now stuck where they were currently:
Resisting Spells 110.5/110.5
Most skills I still wanted to get to 120 are just above 100 :((((

I am being VERY careful with my legacy pets not to activate new system until I REALLY know what I am doing, but as GD is slot 5 anyway it seems he is stuck now ??? (with the skills xxx.xx/xxx.xx)
Greetings

not all GD go up to 120 in skills, in fact very few go that high.
most will have maybe 1 skill that will cap out at 120.
are you sure your GD was cleared to go up to 120 in all skill before the patch?
i dont run EC so i dont see that fancy list like you guys see.

hm - all skills in question were slowly rising and all were over 100 - I dont know when they would have capped if only 1 can go to 120 tbh

i just took out my GD in EC and went and killed it, its showing it can still go to its cap.
youll note each skill has a different cap.

My greater dragon that I've had for years is the same - all skills are maxed already, so they read 116.7/116.7 and so forth

That "fancy list" doesn't exist in EC anymore since the taming upgrade - at least in mine running Pincos.

I just checked with one of my GDs that has several skills over GM that haven't yet reached their cap to make sure it could still get gains in those skills. It did gain. With about 15 minutes of training, it went from 107.4 to 108.9 wrestling, 102.8 to 103.7 tactics, and 102.5 to 102.6 resisting spells. I'm not quite sure what the caps on those skills are for this particular dragon. I usually keep track of starting skills and their estimated caps for the GDs, but this particular GD is one that someone had abandoned (or it went wild) and I tamed it for myself. Not sure yet how much more training it's going to need, but anatomy's still just 83.1 and evaluate intelligence is only 88.5, so I'm guessing he has a bit more training to go through to max out wrestling, tactics, and resisting spells.

Yep, that's what EC Pinco's pet lore menu looks like now.

pubish 97 has had no effect whatsoever on greater dragons. You are forgetting:
Pet Ownership – Ultima Online

Where a creature has skills above 100 pre-tame there will be a skill drop of 10% on taming. The skill shown when tamed becomes the pet’s ‘cap’ in that skill. It can be trained back up to that level after a death,

You know GD's don't Gain in Magery or Eval Int... they never have. Unless it was under GM.

What you tame them at is where it is... Period.

If it dies a lot it may or may not get back up to where it once was.

The only skills it "can" gain up over 100 by itself are Wrestling and I think Resisting spells... but.... and this is a BIG BUT... they won't just gain all the way to 120... some might go higher ... but again it's based off where the skill was after you tamed it... It gains a certain percentage Post tame and that's IT.

Its the xxx/xxx skills i am worried about.before they were all gaining slowly and now they seem capped
My GD was still in training and now training is over it seems because wrestling etc is capped

Before publish i had a great pet with lots of potential after finishing training, now i have a fully trained not so good pet... they should have left the legacy pets untouched

Nothing's changed. If you still know what your pet's skill levels were right after it was tamed, you can figure out what it's skill training caps are. For wrestling, tactics, and resisting spells, take the skill level right after taming and multiply by 1.25. That's the new cap for those skills. For magery, whatever the skill level is right after being tamed, that is the cap; GD can retrain to that point after it dies. For every other skill, the cap is 100. If wrestling is still under 100, you won't see parrying skill. It is a newly visible skill that will show up and train up to 100 after the GD gets to 100 in wrestling skill. GDs now show 90 detecting hidden skill, unless they've died a lot and have lost a lot of that skill and haven't been able to retrain it. Presumably they can train it up to 100.

If you didn't note your pet's fresh-tamed skill levels when you first acquired it, take a look at it's anatomy and evaluate intelligence skills. If it had normal opportunities to kill stuff while training and those are still below 100, chances are good that wrestling, tactics, and resisting spells aren't maxed out yet. However, if anatomy and evaluate intelligence are already at 100, your pet's probably maxed out it's wrestling, tactics, and resisting spells skills. If your pet did some kind of passive training to gain resisting spells, then I can't really offer you much guidance on guesstimating caps for the other skills if you don't know where they started. I don't train pets that way so I have little experience in knowing how they gain in other skills with passive resist training.

They DID leave legacy pets untouched! Your greater dragon is EXACTLY the same as it was before the publish. The problem here is in YOUR lack of understanding of dragons' stats.

Hi
Thx all for answers
Then it will be this way
I just think it was quite a coincidence that the skills in question stopped gaining and are capped exactly since the new publish ( they were always slowly gaining - If I had known this I would have tried to "hardcore" train the GD before the publish :(

because you do not know what the skills were Pre Tame or Post Tame (pre-training) you will never know whst potential your pet would have been. For all you know is your pet is fully trained and it just so happened right when this pub hit, which is most likely what happened. Always write down the skills and stats or GD before you Tame and then right after Taming write them down again. There are formulas to tell you what your GDs max will be after fully trained, they are ALL different.

The new gump that shows the skill cap means you dont have to write anything down anymore which is how it should have been from the start.

Sorry but TAMING has been around a lot longer than the EC and most Tamers Lore before they Tame to make sure it is worth it.

Not sure what you are on about. The OP had his already tamed dragon hit its skill caps when he thought they could all go to 120. The new lore gump update removes any of that confusion of calculating their caps once tamed by showing their cap which is why there is no need to write down post tame stats for calculating caps to know when it reaches them.
