TC Pet Taming Changes, Pets & things you've tried, their results

Last night I had some time and did some testing of these changes finally. I did a lot of reading and one thing i've noticed, is that people are posting things about their pets but unless you have done the testing yourself, you really do not know the full capabilities on a per animal basis.

I'd like to start a thread that can give some detail for every pet you tried, what abilities it had, maybe even screen shots. One other piece that may be important is testing what the pet control chance appeared to be as a guesstimate.

I am not at home right now, but i will do the same with detailed screenshots when I can.

For instance, one thing i tried last night was taking a standard horse, training it 100% and using all of its points. The horse had no abilities listed to be able to cast spells but i could give it special abilities. I gave the horse the ability to poison and mortal strike. I raised its max resists to 80s, gave it max stamina of 150, 700 STR, a decent mana pool of like 400.

I noticed that it was doing about 15 damage per hit to a player with all 70s resist. Nearly every hit while it had mana was a mortal or a poison. It appeared i needed about 65 Taming and lore to have max control of the horse after training. .At this time it had less than 40 in every skill.

Another Observation is that I added Disco to a bake kitsune. It would appear adding disco emoves the innate casting ability. the bake went around attempting to disco things but did not appear to have the ability to cast magery any longer.

Like I said, i did not have much time to play last night, and will go through this in detail again, but I'm hoping many others have already done some of this homework and can provide some detail for others.

Apparently the training gate that's set up ignores slot caps...so I give you the 5 slot weasel that uses armor ignore, poisoning, and flurry force!

I've done quite a few, mostly low level woodland creatures, as that's what I plan to play with. Basically everything was 80/80/80/80/45 (why 45 I don't know), 150 dex/stam, max regens, max base damage and str and hp as high as I could get it.

I made a 3 slot Dire Wolf that could cast necro spells and armor ignore with like 500 health, 500 str. Was kinda neat.

Made a 4 slot Alligator with around 900 hps, 700 str, flury force and armor ignore. even with 30 in his wrestling and tactics he was able (with healing) to take down wild greater dragons pretty well. If I had trained him up to max stats and 100 wrestling/tactics/anatomy I think he would be pretty powerful. I plan on rocking a gator when the publish goes live, though I don't really see the effects of flurry force. Might try a new one with another ability.

On Pacific I have a character who initially had enough taming to get her four dire wolves to bond, but now only uses a summoned dark wolf to control them. I wanted to see if the same setup would work with a trained dire wolf.

.
This is in the notes, if you click the button 'INFO' on the training screen, or read through the pages on the quest gumps, you'll find it. Adding any school of magery you will remove any innate magery the pet has. Disco is included in the list it gives as a 'school of magic'

A question is it possible to increase the resistances on pets during training?

Once you reach the training goal (100% on the training bar), you'll be able to use the training points to improve resists. You can raise them up to 80 with a total cap of 365 (so you could do 80 in 4 resist and 45 in the fifth). If, however, your pet has a resist higher than 80, you'll have to subtract that from the 365 total. This is provided you have the points (ie you haven't spent them on all the other things you can add to pets now).

I think "training" should be replaced by "level up".
In normal training you slowly grow skills and/or stats. This system is designed to do it in large steps. Per level only.

Unless they give ability to spend 15 upgrade points per each training 1% during training process. For example if you need 150 points to add 30 hp, you train pet 10% and apply changes before completing 100% training cycle. You still allowed to train remaining 90% for other stuff inluding more hp increases.

Currently testing system do not allow this DURING training. Only after you hit 100% progress bar.

Real good point. Can't you also control tsuki wolves with the summoned dark wolf?

I tamed a Bake with my gargoyle tamer, gave it max stats/regens/resists.

Base damage fresh tame is 20-30, it said upgrade to 22, and when applied went to 24-33, which didn't make much sense to me.

I then gave it Mana Drain, Whirlwind and Explosive Goo, it's pretty awesome for spawning.

I mean unless something specifically does poison damage like Paroxy, i'd likely just go for 80 in all minus poisoning. Couple that with the consume damage mastery, the pet is never dying. If the animal had spellweaving and cast attunement...damn

FYI, the summoned dark wolf and control of pets is a known bug and is gonna be fixed. I cant see any of what is currently on TC making it to live shards as it basically destroy 95% of the pets in game. Any pet that can go from slot 1 to 5 will be the most powerful pets in game, there is only a couple. Also there is no sense testing this in pvp scenarios right now cause of the 50% cut down in damage. Pets do half of what they do normally on live shards. Which mean no one will pvp with a pet as of right now.

Just changes how pets operate in pvp. Rather than the player being the weak link and the pet doing the damage, you have to change so the char is the primary source of damage while the animal does supplimental (like mortal and debuffs and stuff). Have no problem with that. But if it does go through in its current state, many pets can climb back up to their previous damage in pvp from raising stats.

They probably have a big problem though in pvm, regardless of pvp. the idea you can take such a lesser animal and make it better than top end animals now is pretty mind boggling when you see the lore stats or watch them in action.

Two 2 slot pets, one with disarm, another with dismount. :p

Birds steal shiny stuff all the time.
Yes, stealing magpies!

My Madilyn would love to have one or two "real" magpies on tow. :smile2:

Does anyone know if Ninjitsu allows the pet to cast mirror image? This would come in handy. I'm away from my laptop this weekend and can't test. Can someone check this out ?
