Make Doom Great Again

Premise of this thread is that Doom was actually fun content and Uo doesn't necessarily need to keep adding new encounters and items but can revisit old content that was introduced and make it fun to do.

They could probably revamp some of the monsters in Doom BUT they must make the loot relevant again with what is being dropped/available via other means. I updated the Doom Artifacts to actually doing the gauntlet appealing again by adding stats to items to make them competitive with what is out there.

It is kind of a lengthy read (comparing item stats etc) but I hope the Devs take notice of this. Why can't this be done??

We are beginning discussions for Publish 96 which includes an update to Dungeon Doom as well as continuing work on the Pet Revamp. Check out the sections below to learn more!

In all honestly, I had no idea but I am pretty behind all the stuff going on, kinda came back recently and just seemed like the loot lagged behind.

I don't think the recipes should be a thing, proper stats in the drops need to exist. Thanks for filling me in though, I am okay with the devs stealing some of my suggestions for item stats though ;)

I mean you consider what is out there as loot from monsters vs doom artifacts, doom artifacts need to be relevant again. I loved running Doom, and that updated way back where they had you collect points properly vs randomly rewarding people was fun but then items started to be better then what Doom could give minus the ornament/AoF but then the VVV items got better then the actual items which is silly as well.

I tried to balance as best as I honestly could to make them appealing vs what drops out there. I didn't like that the VVV item (that you can literally sign up and get immediately) had better stats then what is available right now.

I accept that it may be a touch above what is acceptable though.

On-topic: Some of these are REALLY nice. However, Gargoyle versions are lacking.
I didn't even take into account gargoyles. Sorry.

The devs thought that it would make the items attractive to pvpers by buffing the properties on them a little.... they ignored the ease of accessibility when implementing the Faction/VvV versions of doom artifacts.

I never agreed with them being "better" either. just making a version available without endlessly grinding would have been plenty for the pvpers during that time... now there are only a couple VvV items being used anymore... CC & Supernova potions are by far the most commonly used. the rest is not even comparable to mid to high-end corpse loot since the global loot changes.

In your opinion, what pushed the version of the orny I suggested over the top?

No doubt I'd use the hell out of your updated version, (I still use the non- VvV orny on quite a few characters) 2/3 casting is what keeps it some-what relevant.

@Kyronix that is the most exciting thing i've heard since the announcment of a new expansion early last year. Thaaaaaaanks and please keep rolling out new toys here and there after 96! Peerless/champ drops as well! Revolve that loot door my friend.

As was reported in the last newsletter, a Doom Upgrade is in the works for Pub 96. We should have more information about the new artifacts up on UO.com tomorrow.
Are they at least close to what I am posting here? The loot needs to be in line with what people can get elsewhere as drops or else there is no incentive to go to Doom. Please consider my item change suggestions. This kind of stuff would make people want to go down to Doom, I had a LOT of fun down there and your new point system made Doom awesome, now we need the loot to match.

I really like the idea of having an Orny with 20% EP. I liked a few of your other artifact suggestions, and to be honest, with the intensity value of some of the loot that gets pulled now - I doubt any of the items you just theorized would be game breaking.

To put things in perspective, most revamped versions of Doom Artifacts that have been introduced have resulted in an intensity increase ranging from 150 - 900 points, with the average coming in around 350 points. With the latest group the increase range is approximately 90 - 837 with the average coming in around 400 points. This doesn't account for the new item properties since they don't have established intensity values, but gives you a rough idea of where we are.

With your suggestions (I only compared the 8 base artifacts we updated on TC1) the intensity increase ranges from 480 - 1280 with the average coming in around 900 points. With increases like that, there have to be some drawbacks like decreased durability or lifespan and negative item properties to balance them out.

As a player I want phat lootz just as much as the next guy, but finding the sweet spot between desirability while not completely going off the rails with power creep is why we are releasing these so early in the process. Thanks for the feedback!

How is the average the same as the maximum? This should never happen, perhaps a typo. :D

Can we please have Hit Mana Leech on the bow instead? Really that's a must mod on a bow along with SSI.

A Doom revamp has peaked my interest in UO again. Please put more effort into the new arties... Turtle loot and Roof blows away almost all of the "new" doom arties on test center. Please make the new Doom arties worth the time and effort.
