You still have to farm the stuff to unravel though correct?
And in order to farm the stuff you have to have other skills more than 50 magery / 50 imbuing.
Just my thoughts though.

But realistically, it'll probably never happen.
So figured I'd just make it a rhetorical thread.
Even the lowest level critters drop an item or two. With 50 imbuing from character creation you can unravel and imbue enough lrc on 6 pieces of npc armor to get 100 lrc. With 7 slots, it's easy to create a warrior with enough skill to kill low level critters for the base items to unravel. Usually that limited hunting also provides enough gold for the few gems required for the imbuing as well.
Yep but how many low end mobs do you have to farm?
I know it's happen eventually but not in the time frame many are thinking
I would be all for this. Shard consolidation and then adding era specific servers. UoR/T2A/AoS/SE/ML etc etc. Leave 1 WC and 1 EC prodo shard intact and have all the rest start over.
For 1 lrc suit?
It takes 4 residue to imbue 17 LRC... times 6 pieces is 24 magical residue... add a little in for failure and maybe you need 40 residue? That means roughly 40 items to unravel... stay 2 items per mob... you need to kill 20 mobs? So maybe 30 minutes depending on what you're killing?

In answer to the question I would play a new shard without xfers as long as the connection was OK.
I'm going to test this later, it's an interesting thought.

That defeats the purpose of such a shard. Unless it's limited to transferring resources, it shouldn't be in place at all. For that matter, shard transfers shouldn't exist either, IMO, but that ship has long since passed.
It's like my wife and kittens. I tell her she can only have a kitten when 2 of the current cats are officially dead. We're up to 3 cats and a kitten and we're encroaching on the crazy cat people realm.
You gotta tell her about the cats vesus sanity formula. It goes like this:
S = 1 - (C - 2) * 0.1
Or in other words, for every cat over two a woman owns, she is 10% less sane. So like someone with three cats is 90% sane, which isn't that bad. Seven cats? Now she's only 50% sane. Anyone with 12 cats or more is completely a crazy cat lady.
Your wife is currently still 80% sane, which is all right, but keep a close eye on things.

It's possible but shards are subjective to those in it.
It's not likely all housing spots would be gone in two days.
Yes, but depends at what time the server goes active, I would like to be awake for it!
They wouldn't be gone in two days if you had to start from scratch on a brand new shard. You'd have to get resources to train your char AND make a suit, pvm/sell to NPCs to get gold, etc. In all honesty, a house would likely be the last thing a player gets.
This is my line of thinking also.
There seems to be a lot of concern with scripting and while it is inevitable, it will be nowhere near the degree of 19 years of it on regular production shards.
But that could be a detriment, because farming resources sucks.
The only reason I'd do it now is a clean start on a new production shard.
