Time of Legends Upgrade Question

Hey guys -

I've finally been able to retrieve my account - hooray! Now, to get everything updated. I currently only have Mondain's Legacy as my latest expansion. If I buy Time of Legends ($20 on the Origin store I believe) will I automatically get Stygian Abyss and High Seas in between it?

Thanks

Is time of Legends worth buying? I bought High Seas, but not sure if it was worth it, I am not very good with cannons!

Yes its worth buying if you want to play at a normal/decent level, as there is clothes, bosses, arties, dungeons you wont be able to get without the expansions.
Also makes it easier to hunt if you are in a group as there is no restrictions where to go to.

Hmmm yes I did wonder if the new items would be worth getting it for, my gear is pretty out-dated now, most of it probably needs to visit the trash barrel! Are the new dungeons all for high level characters?

Most of the last few publishes are building on Time of Legends, if you don't have it, you can't take part in the quests etc that are being done. As for high seas, don't forget one reason some people bought it was solely for the storage upgrade that came with it.
Much of the new content is aimed at groups, so joining an active guild is a good idea. As for 'high level' characters - I play it, and though I've been playing for years, I'm still not a very competent player and most of my characters wear crafted, imbued armor, or crafted parts with clean-up reward suits.

Id recommend that if you want to update your suit, start by getting one semi-custom made via Imbuing/Tailoring.... this suit does not have to be max spec, just some nice LRC,LMC, MR,MI as basics, which in time will open you the option to hunt for legendaries in harder dungeons, and then slowly start adding legendaries to the suit.
Although just for saying legendary a piece doesn't mean its going to be the best piece, as you may find that some Greater/Mayor artifacts may fit better into the suit. Its matter now of pick & mix till you get the mods you want on your suit and feel comfortable playing it.

Going with a good guild or group of players, should allow you to be able to hunt without being a high-level char, also, what do you mean by high level? Skill wise?
As for say, if you were 7 x GM, you can still hunt this places, just your spells or damage output wont be as high as a specialised character for say, Mysticweave mage, which can WoD at 120 SPWeave.
Id like to add also, depending what shard you play on, you might find legendaries for cheap for grabs if you got some gold saved up which should help to aim for a higher end suit.

Yes it is. Loads of fun, quests and with the new Dungeon and reward for turn ins from same dungeon will be well worth the price of the exp. You know the only reason why I brought the high sea exp was to be able to get on the Big boats and also do the corgul, I have two ships, one I brought the other is from building it from the ship plans, both are dry dock as I never use them, neither has cannons either. When it was time to kill stuff in the South seas, I used the old school boats, If I see priates I quickly move from the area. Same when fishing up SOS, I use the normal boat. I really don;t care for the ships, but will join events by mates and manned the cannons while fighting.

Thank you all for your excellent advice! I am working on improving my gear just now, but with 6 characters it mostly involves shuffling items around. I have bought a few 'All 70's & full LRC suits' from a well-known shop on Europa and I am using them as a basis from which to make improvements.
By 'high level I just mean characters which are well-geared and would be considered 'finished' as far as skills/templates go.
We are looking for a guild but not many seem to be actively recruiting, we will keep looking!
I totally agree about the storage upgrade and the ships, I did buy a big new one, but I definitely prefer the old ones for fishing up treasure, I thought it was just me!
Thanks again everyone. :)

There is many ways of building a template, no one way is perfect as you will always lack something elsewhere, its quite common to find now for PvM mage temps to be running:

120Mage, 120 Eval, 120 Focus, 120 Mystic, 120 Spellweave, 120 Meditation - You will have a lot of Mana regen plus the option of good summons and WoD to kill bosses under 30% as long as you have arcane focus.

Sampire ( Many ways to build also) this build hits that hard caps of GM and Legendary so you get the most out of the skill

120 Swords/Fencing
120 Bushido
100/120 Tactics
100/120 Chivalry
100 Necro
100 Resists/Anatomy (Depending what you fight you can change the skill out)
60 Parrying

These 2 templates can cover most things plus have a strong damage output.

That Mage template looks interesting, I do already have a Legendary Mage and I was wondering if the template needed bringing up to date. I can't imagine how much all those 120 scrolls will be though!

The High Seas Booster is a separate purchase for $14.99
But I do get Stygian Abyss in between, correct?

Also, thank you to everyone else in between giving me info on the new armor and such. Definitely a lot to remember and probably just as much to learn with new content.

You need to buy Stygian Abyss separately, I'm pretty sure. All my accounts that got the free Time of Legends upgrade did not get upgraded to Stygian Abyss.

This was just confirmed to me via the support email. Ugh.

Anyone have any thoughts on which one might be better to pick up for a returning player?

To me, SA is the most interesting of all the expansions, especially if you play solo a lot and have an imbuer. There are so many things to do in the abyss and underworld. You can solo most all the spawns, that's where you get imbuing ingredients, and there are some drops that still sell for quite a lot. High Seas is great for high-level ingots from merchant ships and fishing for nets - and Scalis fights with groups. Eodon has high level loot if can coordinate with a group to get it

So I purchased SA first and my order is still sitting at the Origin store as "Pending" - how long does this normally take to receive my account key?

Check your spam filter, I just ordered from the store and while my order confirmation came through the email that followed with the code was hung up in the filter.

Nope, nothing. Still listed as pending in the Origin store too.

Typically the first time or two you order it can sit there for 2 or 3 days until it "clears" and processes with your CC and you don't "reject" the charge instantly.

That's sad - you should not have to wait but it happens. The Origin store is the worst part of this game. If you read these forums often, you'll see that's a constant complaint. I hope it doesn't kill your fun.

It is understandable that EA waits until a CC clears on new purchases. I have had the same CC on my accounts forever and I get all my codes instantly because I have a proved good track record. With identity theft at an all time high you really can't blame them.
