reason: it's slow, and brittle. 30 splintering on a brittle is rough, each time splintering goes off it removes durability and since it's brittle you gota repair it before it hits 0. basically you'd be constantly repairing it and keeping an eye on it.

thanks very much re weapon....... i do not play melee char in UO (i plan to) so it can be difficult seeing the value in things or their deficiencies relative to other items...... so your info is appreciated
