We Cannot Help You With This

I have personally locked down soulstones I own in a house of a friend, some other people also have done this.

That friend quit UO and his account is suspended.

Due to a BUG not I, nor any others having done the same, can no longer retrieve the items we locked down and/or secured in that house REGARDLESS of the security settings on each secured/lockdown item being "Anyone".

I cannot release my items in other words. My friend is NOT responsible for this, guaranteed. We live in the same area, we have known each other for like 10 years. Not his fault, he did not touch anything.

It is just that I cannot release what I have personally locked there because of a BUG OBVIOUSLY having to do with him suspending his account and leaving.

I am still co-owner, I have been trying to get those items back for weeks.

Today I paged a GM and after 4-5 canned responses mixed with the usual "Sorry we can't do our job for a split second." responses I got GM [Devs may ask me for the name] telling me that either my friend reactivates his account (PAYS ANOTHER 13 EURO WHICH HE DOESNT WANNA SPEND ON THIS GAME, AND NOW I KNOW WHY), or I can't do jack.

Because it is his house.

BUT IT IS ULTIMA'S FAULT, A BUG. I know my friend's account's details and I can turn it on anytime. I REFUSE TO PAY.

IT IS A BUG.

So can someone help here? I paid for the stones, paid for the expansion, whatever. I won't PAY to activate a suspended account in order to petition a GM to THEN fix the bug.

Sorry for you loss. It is a risk you take when locking stuff down on someone elses property. And, Yes it is your friends FAULT. Kiss the stuff goodbye and get over it. you, most likely, will not be able to reactivate a supended acccout anyway.

Well, sounds like your friend had a house with other items.

Why not re-activate the account for 10 bones.

Get your soulstones back...and then strip his house clean and sell the house.

Surly you can make 10-15 mil off his items and then sell the pixel gold for RL cash. You now have your stones and your money back and your friends account is stripped clean so that he wont want to play this game anymore and waste his own money.

You have killed 3 birds with 1 stone.

BTW: This is your fault for putting your soulstones in his house and what makes 0 sense is. If you guys live in the same area. He couldnt knock on your door or call you, or ICQ you and say:

"Hey homie, closing my UO account, get your stuff and do you want my stuff?"

So the chances are: You either are too lazy to use my first advice or his account was banned because did something to which I say "your own fault for dealing with a scripter/scammer"

Actually, you can release anything you locked down.

I do it all the time at my guilds castle.

usually yes. But I had also to experience various issues with security:
some years ago, with the patch, which applied the security changes to rune books, the setting was changed to coowner. Unfortunately the owner account of that house was also offline for a while.

Each house transfer changes the settings regarding the locked down items also, even if you get coowned afterwards again.

Security on doors and teleporters seems to change to anyone again and again.

Of course the house setting will change if you sell or transfer the house.

Thats supposed to happen.

GM will do nothing because he cannot go by your word that they are your soul stones, and that is why he told you have your friend reactivate his account.
Have you tryed releasing the soul stones with other characters on your account, you might not be using the character that locked them down to begin with. If you havent try that

Your friend should have warned you that he was closing the account so that you would have had time to retrieve your items.
It isn't a bug. You cannot unlock things from a house that is in any state of decay or owned by OSI.
Sorry for your loss.
GM's cant help.

Its not a bug if its functioning as intended. It is intended that items in peoples homes are not unable to be removed after their account is suspended for many reasons. One of these reasons is due to bans. One of these reasons is so that people that are your "friends" can't loot you blind after you leave the game.

In 90 days if you don't own another house and you are still on the co-owners list you will get that house or have a chance to get that house. If you own another house that house will go through the decay process in 90 days. Either way you (unfortunately) have to wait 90 days.

In the future, soul stones are an item that should definately either stay in your own bank box or in your own house. Thats a lot of work to put anywhere else.

Uh, Soulstones are account-bound. All the GM has to do is LOOK at the stones and the person asking, and see that they ARE the same account. It is well within the abilities of the GM to look.

Whether the rules allow them to unlock the stones, is another matter, but the GM CAN tell exactly who the soulstones belong to.

Where can I begin to reply..

Ok here goes.. Facts :

I have no reason to strip my friend's account, I've got a little more respect than that. And much more items than I need.. :) Except one, but that's another story. I also have no reason to pay to retrieve what's mine, with virtual or real world credit.

I have done this for others in my house and vice versa and never has this happened even if the other person (or me) suspended their account. This was a bug.

I wasn't just a friend of the house, I was a co-owner. Even if I was simply a friend I should be able to retrieve what I locked down unless the owner changes the security settings.
Which he hadn't. He didn't touch anything.

It's noone's 'fault' putting things in their friends' house. Been doing it all the time in UO. Read where I'm saying I've been in this situation on both ends again and *never* did anyone have the same issues.

I am not lazy. He has done no cheating, and some people assume too much.

State of decay you say Flutter?? How come then in the (recent) past while I had my account suspended, my house hadn't even entered decaying mode and everyone I had friended could use it just fine? Why is this situation different?

LASTLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY :

"Whether the rules allow them to unlock the stones, is another matter, but the GM CAN tell exactly who the soulstones belong to."

The GM REFUSED to look. Now THAT is lazy. I wasn't asking for that Ornie hanging around in the upper level chest. I wasn't after that uber suit left in my friend's strong-box. I ASKED for what I PAID for, given REAL LIFE MONEY to EA, and which is now locked down in front of me.
They can track it to me, they can release in on the spot for me.
But they won't do it, and here some of you suggest I pay for that.

Tell you what, next time a GM helps you when you are struck with a bug, you pay them 15$.
